- Blockstream Green is a mobile Bitcoin wallet for iOS and Android. It boasts a lot of great features and security options while still remaining accessible to new BTC users. This wallet also allows users to pair it with a hardware wallet, create watch-only accounts, and enable multiple forms of two-factor authentication to ensure their funds are secure.
This video teaches new users how to use a Bitcoin wallet, while also diving into some of the more complex features that will attract power users.

Can you send Bitcoin to the green wallet from a Bitcoin machine ?
This is open source and likely to get some advanced features like liquid , satellite integration for sending messages and they are working on integrated coin control like found in electrum or core

Great video , one point of clarification as I understand it with the 2 of 2 signature scheme . By definition , if its a 2 of 2 multisig than both signatures are always needed to sign a tx , even if it doesn't meet the threshold you set . This has several implications, If blockstreams server is down you will not be able to sign a tx , restore a seed (inside the nlocktime) , or create a wallet even without any 2fa use and even if you use your own full node . Now to be fair this is the same problem with many spv wallets (exception electrum where you can toggle servers) but still an issue of inconvenience on rare moments . This is specifically why they are creating single sig setting ... and IMHO it would be nice to have multiple wallets some 2 or 2 and others single sig on different cards withing green wallet
Thank you! I had definitely missed that point and came to realize it after posting. I agree that the addition of single sig paired with multiple wallets where you can decide on multisig would be great.
I allways have two identical Phones. The older One and the new One with the same Authenticator codes on it and also the same Bitcoin Wallet with the same private Key (Seed). The older one never leaves my Home and it is allways offline and switched off. When the new One got stolen or lost. I can immediately reach my Bitcoin without Problems. I switch the older One on and have Access.
That's a great idea !
Another solid product from Blockstream.
A few suggestions:
1. You set up Google Authenticator but don't discuss backing up the 2FA manual key. If you lose the 2FA device, all services in Google Authenticator must be set up from scratch. If you don't have the manual key, you won't be able to set it up again without going through a 2FA reset process with Blockstream; not sure how Blockstream handles verifying that, exposing credentials, KYC, etc.
2. The option to connect to my node isn't available on the iOS app -- no "Advanced" settings. Seems like that is only an Android option (like Samouri), which should be pointed out.
3. You mention connecting Green to a Casa Node. I run a Casa Node and am pretty sure it's not possible to accept external connections because it sand boxes Bitcoin Core to only the local Lightning node.
They will be releasing single sig option soon too . right now only 2 of 2 and if imported from desktop 2 of 3( this will be added to android soon.) Sats has already been added to the next release as well
I never received or sent anything with Green yet, thanks for showing, really enjoyed the showcase.

If they have one of my keys, what if blockstream goes out of business?
Guys don't worry if the transaction takes a while to appear on the app. It took almost an hour to appear to mine. Also link ur emails with the app so will be notified when the transaction appear on the app.
Takes awhile for the Communist Chinese to take their cut.

I like your explanation of the wallet setup, but you lost me on enabling 2FA va SMS. Sure it's easy, but it's also easy for me to SIM-swap your number and reset your 2FA. So please don't use text-based or call-based 2FA. It is as secure as your social engineering skills on AT&T/Verizon/Sprint employees. :)
Doesn't it force a significant time period before 2FA reset works? 90-365 days I think? More than enough time to notice there is a problem.
The desktop version now supports Ledger. Pretty cool.

Is it still Only for Bitcoins or are other coins/tokens available to send and receive???? and you also forgot to mention that it is a good idea to save the 2FA setup key somewhere safe so you have it in case you loose your phone or need to restore your phone,,i know you said we could set up an extra 2FA like SMS but i have example all my 2FA setup keys safely stored on a extern USB stick easy to acces on a device not connected to internet and restore all your 2FA keys in case of lost 2FA.
Been using this Wallet for a while now, for my “walking around” wallet, so I have a little BTC with me wherever I go. Really like it so far. Might be the color scheme that has me hooked though. Lol. For some reason, it’s difficult for it to connect through Tor. Was wondering if it was just me, or if anyone else might have issues trying to connect through the Tor network.
Confused about the 2FA Authentication using Google for amounts larger than the threshold/ If I lose my iphone, doesn't the person who stole my iphone also has access to the Google Auth app on my phone (assuming they can hack into it)? Or are you talking about just if I lose my iPhone? Is the solution to keep a safe copy of the Recovery code for the Google Auth app so I can set up that app on my replacement phone too?

Your bank takes your local currency (e.g. dollars). If you have Bitcoin, you'll need to exchange the Bitcoin for dollars if you want to make a deposit in your bank account.
However, the idea is that Bitcoin allows you to be your bank... so you may want to keep it yourself (or spend it when you need to).
why is taking long for them to confirm the withdrawals it has been 2 days now
the issue I see is what's happen if you set the 2FA, then later Blockstream company end activities, and so you now are locked for ever
Worst case scenario funds would be locked for one year because the 2fa is a time - locked smart contract. When the year is over your backup phrase will work by itself.
Thanks, I see, by the way, I will never use here the 2fa because it's rely on other infrastructure or smart contract, the state status of smart contract is a burden when there is blockchain fork, it's make sense 2fa rely on third part infrastructure for centralized web exchange case, while not for a hodl type wallet in my opinion.

It means you can spend your btc even when the Blockstream servers are down. But it's less secure@@SerPapus
2 questions , lets say i lost my phone i can just use my words and start over again using any other wallet service and recover my funds right? And if i set 2 multi factor one for .01 and any bigger i have to use the second 2mfa but if anyone had my first 2mfa they can just do multiples .01 until they drain the wallet right?

So, I have been waiting for a while for Samourai to offer their wallet on iOS...would you say this green wallet is a good alternative? I have been using jaxx but I am not completely satisfied with their security features.
Yes, this is DEFINITELY a contender for that kind of caliber. I would also check out HODL Wallet, which I did a video on too. Both are great fully featured Bitcoin-only wallets.

they want you to put your country code *_and_* area code in the first field and then put your regular number in the 2nd field. so just add your area code to the +1 field. you probably figured it out by now so this is just for those who come afterwards.

Unfortunately Blockstream Green is meant specifically for storage, not to buy/sell. Obtaining Bitcoin can vary based on your country. In the US I'd recommend checking out Swan Bitcoin and Cashapp. In Canada Shakepay and Bull Bitcoin are pretty good.
If you're not in either of those countries then you'll likely have at least a couple local options that you can buy from and then transfer to this wallet easily.
@@BTCSessions hey man! I’m from the UK and just trying to find a wallet/storage that lets you add funds aswell ask for no ID, I used to use CoinCorner but now there terms have changed and It’s now mandatory to add proof of address and passport
@@cainewray1365 with the regulations in the UK any centralized exchange is going to require ID. With that said, there are some decentralized options to buy like Bisq and HodlHodl. You'll likely still want to withdraw to your own wallet after purchase. These solutions are also a bit more complicated than a regular exchange.
