I'd have to add Nándor Hidegkuti, whose role as a deep-lying centre forward (the original false 9?) was pivotal to the Aranycsapat era. Also, from the great French team of the early '80s, dominated by Platini, Marius Trésor - a defensive rock who retired before the 1984 Euros.
Juninho Pernambucano was overshadowed in the Brazilian national team, also Jorge Burruchaga was an incredible player in his prime, very elegant on the ball, quite fast and athletic and had great vision but he is not as well known as his teammate Diego Maradona.
Goalkeepers, even if the best player on a team, are rarely the most appreciated. So it's kinda fitting they don't even get credit in a video with the purpose of giving credit to those who are overshadowed. This video could have been 7 goalkeepers, but it wasn't, because they were overshadowed by attacking players^^
Would love a part two. I also believe Keylor Navas deserves this title. Was behind Casillas until he left, then behind Courtois went to PSG and is now behind Donnarumma. All while being an elite level keeper where ever he has played. Multiple champions leagues and league titles, as well being a great servant for Costa Rica especially during their run in the 2014 World Cup.
Mark my words, Marchisio will be a phenomenal Coach if he decides to become one. He always had this "stying in the background, giving the spotlight to others, but still having full control of the pitch and the way how the game is played" - vibe. He was phenomenal in his days and that over a long period of time.
You missed the obvious one IMO. Edinson Cavani. When he arrived to PSG, he was overshadowed by Zlatan. When Zlatan left, Neymar & Mbappe soon arrived and once again put Cavani in the shadows. When he left PSG and joined United, he soon was overshadowed by CR7. The whole career of Cavani can be sumbed up as him being the second wheel. That's a shame considering the fact that he's always performed well
Criminal to leave out Thomas Müller on this list. Never made world XI, despite his consistently fantastic goal contributions per 90. World cup, WC golden boot, 2 trebles, broken Bundesliga assist record-Lewandowski, as fantastic as he is, has much of his success due to Müller shadowing him
He's not even the best Müller. Not even the best striker called Müller. Not even the best striker called Müller who is a one-club-man at Bayern^^ Still though, i don't think he's underappreciated, i think people know what a unique talent he is.

Could you do: 7 3-way transfers, 7 best underdog youth league runs or 7 luckiest players- talent in comparison to titles won or players played with. Thanks
You should do Man City 11/12 vs Man City 21/22 combined XI. It's finally been long enough for City's first post-takeover club heroes to leave the club, so there's enough of a difference between the two sides to make a really interesting video.
Lovely video as always. I know that you enjoy the word “myriad” but just fyi it does not require “of” after. Think of it as more akin to many than to millions when describing a number.
You should do a video on the 7 best player-managers ever or the most clubs represented by the same player and manager duo, for example Benitez and Rondon
Some footballers are overshadowed. This suggestion hopefully not. Day 5: Top 7 second/amateur teams in football (Hertha BSC II which almost won the DFB Pokal, Real Madrid Castilla who lost to their first team in the spanish cup in 1980 but got into Europe, Wellington Phoenix Reserves who play in the NZ National League)

Rooney as an honorable mention is a bit far fetched. He was Englands star for years and after Ronaldo’s departure from United he was their star for a few years too.
I saw Nicky Butt playing for Birmingham a fair bit and must query your suggestion of him as an honorable mention. What do you think happened to him by that stage if his inclusion for consideration in such a list is truly valid?
If u ask any arsenal fan about thier glory years, they all remember pires bergkamp and henry. Most of the midfield credit went to Patrick Vieira ..but who people still tend to forget is Gilberto Silva.

The thing not to be forgotten about Ángel di María is that he was one of the best players of Man United until during one of his matches somebody broke into his house and held his family at knifepoint IIRC. Anybody saying he was a bust should ask themselves how should he have kept performing in circumstances like that. And it say a lot about how good a player he was that even then he had the 3rd most assists in the whole division. He is more fairly appreciated outside of England, I think. People aren't concerned with the one season at Man Utd when you have a decade and a half at Benfica, Real Madrid and PSG.
0:55 I think NBA Basketball Legend Sam Jones is a great example. He died on the 31st of December, but it was overshadowed by Betty White dying a couple of hours later.
Because of politics is why Wayne Rooneys name is not mentioned, the most overshadowed player in the history of football if he did follow Ronaldo to Real Madrid,he would still be playing like Bale, but because of the signing of Ronaldo than and now is put a burden on his legacy,at Manchester united, his own country, turned there back on him...one of the greatest
robert pires was one of my fav players ...... he was truely criminally underrated .. carrick was the solution to the English golden generation, but they went with stardom, rather than quality .... Di Maria is basically criticized in England ... rest of the world knws hw talented he is ..... one bad season (whr he was initially good in beginning) doesn't defines a players career ....
Di Maria's issue at United is more than just being 'deemed a flop' - it's the fact he never wanted to be there, made that fact known, was petulant and inconsistent and just generally both he and his wife treated United like it was beneath him - he wanted to go to PSG from Real, but Real didn't want to sell him to them, so he came to us instead, and he acted like it.
Try to make a video on UCL winners that were not winners of local league. I think is important as in my opinion champions league should only be made from league winners from all European countries
I believe if Angel Di Maria played the finals Argentina wouldve won because of of how brilliant he played before Argentina reached the finals.Don't believe me watch all Argentinas games in 2014 WC you will also see why Messi is arguably the best player.

HITC Sevens was the last place where I'd have expected to hear the name "Ancient Aliens"😂
Your honorable mentions make me wonder if Benzema would have ever gotten his flowers if Cristiano stayed at Real Madrid.
Finally some recognition for how brilliant pires was 🙌
Great analogy with JFK, Huxley and CS Lewis. Enjoyed that
Mark my words, Marchisio will be a phenomenal Coach if he decides to become one.
Not even the best striker called Müller who is a one-club-man at Bayern^^
Still though, i don't think he's underappreciated, i think people know what a unique talent he is.
@@Jonathanizer Gerd Muller was not an one club man for Bayern. You are driving home why he is overshadowed or underappreciated. He is not someone who is consistently underrated but he gets overlooked a lot.
@@brunaciompi1717 OK so i didn't know Gerd Müller played in the MLS after Bayern. Not sure if Fort Lauderdale really should count as a professional club, but i guess technically it was.
A great example would be Benzema at Real Madrid, massively overshadowed by Ronaldo. One of the best strikers of this century..but he gets no credit
Frank Rijkaard was Massively overshadowed by Ruud Gullit too
now your list is looking better, don't forget though that Van Basten was best of the 3
I would say that Benzema even gets overrated these days. I also would not say that Benzema was overshadowed by Ronaldo, more like he was being underrated or being overly criticized when he was underperforming.
Robert Pires was my favourite. Seeing Pires and Henry in that Dreamcast shirt... memories, love it. It's the first shirt I ever owned.
Weird how nobodies mentioning di Maria got the opportunity to be the main man at Manchester united, but it didn't work out. Some players are just meant to be behind the scenes supporting players. They deserve more credit though
Every Santos fan, regardless his age, knows the best attack line that ever played at our country:
Dorval, Mengalvio, Coutinho, Pelé e Pepe
I love you Alphie, finally Our great willem whom I am named after is being talked about. In the Netherlands there was long a duscussion if he was the most important player for the dutch "Total football".
This needs a second part. Other examples are Thomas Müller, Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi
HITCSevens, please do a video about the best XI in the Premier League since 1992 in each position e.g Schmeichel, Cech in goal, Neville, Azpilicueta, Walker at right back. It would be brilliant.
Marchisio was brilliant. One of the last true box to boxers.
Thomas Muller deserves a shout his never really been praised for what his capable of doing
Except that miss against England in the Euros
@@mrb6759 Muller is a bit of "a bottler" when he feels the pressure of being the main man and the team is not working.
I would have added Costacurta, overshadowed by Maldini, Baresi and Nesta
Great video as always Alfie 🔥
You definitely could have done a part two on this. People would eat this up
Another brilliant video
Day 36: Best Players With Two Surnames XI
Could you do: 7 3-way transfers, 7 best underdog youth league runs or 7 luckiest players- talent in comparison to titles won or players played with. Thanks
Could you do a video about the best players from countries bad at football.
Ps, love your videos🤌
Love videos like these
You should do Man City 11/12 vs Man City 21/22 combined XI. It's finally been long enough for City's first post-takeover club heroes to leave the club, so there's enough of a difference between the two sides to make a really interesting video.
He should do it after they win the title again
Lovely video as always. I know that you enjoy the word “myriad” but just fyi it does not require “of” after. Think of it as more akin to many than to millions when describing a number.
You should do a video on the 7 best player-managers ever or the most clubs represented by the same player and manager duo, for example Benitez and Rondon
Surely Redknapp with Defoe, Crouch and Kranjcar or Allardyce and Kevin Nolan.
It’s the same thing in psg with di Maria again
Some footballers are overshadowed. This suggestion hopefully not.
Day 5: Top 7 second/amateur teams in football
(Hertha BSC II which almost won the DFB Pokal, Real Madrid Castilla who lost to their first team in the spanish cup in 1980 but got into Europe, Wellington Phoenix Reserves who play in the NZ National League)
Robert Pires is one of my all time favorite, it’s incomprehensible how underrated he was. Only his missed penalty stayed in history😂
Best German Premier league players of all time I'm posting this request on behalf of another fan/subscriber who has made this request 255 times/days. His name is Ryuzaki Taiyou so all credit goes to him.
Instantly thought of Zidane and Djorkaeff. Without Zidane the French side would have been built around djorkaeff 96-2000
Pogba overshadowed by Lingardinho😭
You should look into Jorge El Mágico Gonzalez, a player Maradona, said was better than himself, but never gets much love from being from a small country
This is an another great video 👍
I fully agree with you in this list and hope to see Angel Di Maria boss to be shining once again with Paris Saint Germain and Argentina national team alongside Lionel Messi boss, good friends!!!:-D
Shout out to Peter Beardsley.
Yes, agreed. One of my favorite players ever. Just a shame he ruined his legacy.
Can you do a video of the fall and rise of Belgium team Union SG?
part 2 of this video please
Rooney as an honorable mention is a bit far fetched. He was Englands star for years and after Ronaldo’s departure from United he was their star for a few years too.
Stupendous video
Garrincha had to be number 1. Many people in Brasil still think he was better that Pele to this day!
I saw Nicky Butt playing for Birmingham a fair bit and must query your suggestion of him as an honorable mention. What do you think happened to him by that stage if his inclusion for consideration in such a list is truly valid?
angel di maria use to play with both Cristiano and Lionel Messi.
If u ask any arsenal fan about thier glory years, they all remember pires bergkamp and henry. Most of the midfield credit went to Patrick Vieira ..but who people still tend to forget is Gilberto Silva.
Guti and Raul/ the stars of the real team of that time?
Pires was absolutely first class My French friends at the time loved the style that he brought to the game. That Arsenal team was unbelievable. The first 11 was the stuff of legend.
Pires ability should probably be mentioned more akin to the likes of Giggs or Ginola. They still get a retrospective look and rightly so as building the bricks of what premier league widemen should be. Heck, even Beckham’s crossing ability from wide is still a referenced hallmark of the league even if it pales in comparison to his fame.
That Arsenal left wing and Robert Pires’ contribution to it is actually something to be highlighted and built upon. It’s really some of the best footballing offerings the league has given us since ‘92. It was a definitive step forward to the European technical quality where we are now.
Day 67 : Every professional seasons of 1 player ranked from worst to best ( messi , pele ,Kaka or Aguero whoever you want )
Carrick was so important to our success with his passing which allowed us to control games
14:40 I love how there is a a guy on the roof of a grandstand🤣
Because of politics is why Wayne Rooneys name is not mentioned, the most overshadowed player in the history of football
if he did follow Ronaldo to Real Madrid,he would still be playing like Bale, but because of the signing of Ronaldo than and now is put a burden on his legacy,at Manchester united, his own country, turned there back on him...one of the greatest
I have a friend who’s uncle was Robert pires
robert pires was one of my fav players ...... he was truely criminally underrated .. carrick was the solution to the English golden generation, but they went with stardom, rather than quality .... Di Maria is basically criticized in England ... rest of the world knws hw talented he is ..... one bad season (whr he was initially good in beginning) doesn't defines a players career ....
Considering when Alfie showed the Barca team photo my brain went “Xavi, Iniesta, Messi” the requirements for this list are very hard to disagree with
Honorable mentions: Pedro, Karim Benzema ( pre Ronaldo leaving), Edin Dzeko, Keylor Navas, Roy Makaay, Olivier Giroud.
Michael laudrup: by stochkov and romario
What a trio that was!
Sonny Anderson, Mario Jardel, Giovane Elber all overshadowed by Ronaldo Nazario
I feel like scoring in all three of the winning finals for your country is pretty legendary
Try to make a video on UCL winners that were not winners of local league.
I think is important as in my opinion champions league should only be made from league winners from all European countries
Di Maria is a greater big match player than Neymar and many other players under spotlight and that's a fact.
I believe if Angel Di Maria played the finals Argentina wouldve won because of of how brilliant he played before Argentina reached the finals.Don't believe me watch all Argentinas games in 2014 WC you will also see why Messi is arguably the best player.
