With the World Cup approaching, a video on why former American international Jonathan Bornstein is a hero in Honduras. This could be the most dramatic moment on a list about moments in major tournaments and qualifiers where one team that didn't need the result broke the hearts of another team that did need the result. Examples: 2002 World Cup, South Korea beat Portugal 1-0 on a goal by future Manchester United utility man Park-Ji Soon. South Korea were already into the knockout round. Portugal would have advanced with a draw. The USA advanced instead. 2014 World Cup qualifying, for the second consecutive World Cup cycle, already qualified USA again scored late in the final match, this time to knock Panama out and keep Mexico alive. We Americans are just generous that way. Graham Zusi scored the decisive goal in stoppage time and the Mexican announcer on the simultaneous match let the Mexican team have it with both barrels, for not rescuing themselves, in hilarious fashion. Euro 2000 qualifiers, already qualified Sweden beat Poland in the last match to knock out the Poles and allow England to qualify.
As a ManU fan, I’m so mad that AWB is now on the market. I honestly think that he’s been our best signing since Sir Alex’s departure along with Bruno Fernandes. Even though he sometimes has issues with committing too many fouls, it’s something he can work on as he gets more mature, and aside from that, he’s our best defender since Rio and Vida. He has insane defensive abilities, and I’m mad that people are judging him on the fact that his attacking output is mediocre. We already have have the likes of CR7, Martial, Rash, Chong, Sancho, Elanga, Diallo and a few others that are attacking players: let them do all the attacking! We have had so many issues with defending over the years, and now people are upset because AWB is not a 5-star skilled winger with 90-shooting and crossing. I’ve heard all this bullcrap about being “modern full-backs” who are supposed to know how to do everything, but when it means dropping an amazing defender to have Diogo Brickowski instead because he can cross better, it’s ridiculous. We need defenders who can defend, and Maguire is not helping our case. If needed, switch to a 3-man defense with AWB on the right then: I’m sure he can excel there. If we let him go, that would be the stupidest decision ever, and the loss of an amazing player to a potentially rival team…
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 372) I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. Rory Delap was of course very famous for his throw-ins but I wonder how unusual his talent actually was. Although he never quite became as well known as Delap, Dave Challinor was known for his very long throws and was widely known for it before Delap. However it was something I saw in an Evostik League (or was it Unibond? I can't remember it was ages ago) that really got me thinking. I'm pretty sure it was Glapwell that had this player who would routinely throw the ball more than half the width of the pitch, and his throw-ins were de-facto corners when that far up the pitch. I stood there wondering if most players could actually do this with a bit of practice and it was actually a technique that could be learned rather than talent thing. Obviously some players would still be able to throw a bit further than others, but I wouldn't be surprised if the differences were fairly marginal.
There is also Simon terodde who probably deserves an own video… this man scored the most goals each season in 2.Bundesliga for years consistently, but failed to become a big scorer in Bundesliga…

@@soundscape26 It was in a match against England. The Ref had blown his whistle the ball to give Colombia a free kick (for offside if I remember correctly). So it didnt matter if he connected or missed it, although the replays generally suggest it was in game action
@@C0mmand3r. Right... I just watched the footage. It's a bit misleading yes.
Silly question: why didn't Utd try playing AWB in the CDM role given his defensive abilities?
Perhaps because his passing isn't good enough
Hey Alfie have you considered making a podcast version of your videos?
Antonin Panenka for his Panenka penalty
I don’t think many people, certainly in Europe, would know the name René Higuita if it wasn’t for the scorpion kick, or Jorge Campos if it wasn’t for the fact he’d be moved from goalkeeper to striker in some games… oh, and those amazing, sometimes self-designed, kits!
Higuita was first made famous in Italy 90 by making a clumsy dribbling attempt on Cameroon's Roger Milla and suffering a pathetic goal as a result.
@@soundscape26 a goal which knocked them out of the tournament if I remember correctly
@@gamewithgreg One of the goals according to the report for that match. Cameroon beat Colombia 2-1 in extra-time after a 0-0 in regular time.
Had Charlie Adam in my fantasy team at his peak. Good value :)
Day 5: a team with teenagers/the best young players to ever captain their senior side
Need to know more about what Billy Whitehurst was like as a player maybe you could do a whole video about him.
Can you do a video on the rise of Yeovil town from the 6th tier to the championship and then the rapid collapse to conference?
First thing that came to mind: Robben cutting in to the left to curve it into the net with his left foot.
Hiya Alfie, When Tranmere played Newcastle in FA cup about 20 years ago, I didn't tell my Dad about David Challinor's throw in, Dads quote was "you would think there was a 40 miles per hour wind behind that ball", I said "they've checked with the rest of world football and he's got the longest throw" its a shame what happened to David's shoulders and back haven't to have injections and operation's, could you please do a vlog on Carlisle United like you did that series on Oldham, Bolton and the like, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
The video you never knew you needed
Would you be able to do a video on Riqui Puig transfer please, the implications of him choosing to move to the MLS and the impact this will have on his career progression! Just seems a very weird transfer
David Odonkor. Was fast as hell, couldnt do anything with the ball. Gave one good cross at WC2006 against Poland. Went to Betis for 6 millionen. Best deal Dortmund ever made.
Germans always going the extra mile to screw Poland over.
Jesus, my old man was doing the 'Blanco' in the early/mid 70's against me. I wonder if there's a copyright in the midst there. 😁
What’s hilarious is that Bornstein is held in higher regard by Honduran football/soccer fans more than he is American fans
@@USMNT1913 Exactly.
He can do other things, but Lamela‘s rabonas are something to behold
Wtf AWB is an absolutely terrible playrr
@@tottereff8615 if he went back to Palace he’d be a star. The problem is United.
@@ThreeRunHomer Your brains are the problem or rather lack of brains
@@tottereff8615 in which aspect is he a terrible player?

I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
Klinsmann, Ozil, Lehman, Hamann, Gundogan, Huth, Ballack
I paused the video at 00:11 seconds in and if Juninho Pernumbucana isn’t the #1 for his free kicks then I will never log onto the internet for the rest of eternity
Day 310: Indonesia XI If All Eligible Players Had Declared For Them.
Keep dreaming bocah
Wan Bissaka is a unit now. Love witching him.
You talk about Bieranvand and when you move on to Quaresma the goalkeeper in the picture at 4:08 is Bieranvand. Nice work :))
That was subtle. Very good catch 🙂
Why dont these videos haves actual videos from these players? Why always still photos?
Some footage of these players would have made this video better.
As soon as I saw the title I thought of Blanco. Nice to see him on the list
I’m sure you remember all too well Boaz Myhill kicking it out for a corner rather than face one of Rory’s terrifying launches.
There is also Simon terodde who probably deserves an own video… this man scored the most goals each season in 2.Bundesliga for years consistently, but failed to become a big scorer in Bundesliga…
What was the ighalo bit?
Surprised akinfenwa didn’t even get a mention because I’m sure not many people would know who he is if he wasn’t the “ strongest player”
What about goalkeeper Rene Higuita, famous for saving the ball with a double footed scorpion kick
And cocaine
