Even before hearing this talk, based on inspiration and wisdom from previous talks, I've been working with cutting the chain between desire and grasping. I can say from experience that the ease and happiness that comes from renunciation, from not acting on pleasant feeling -->desire --> grasping is far superior to the passing pleasure of indulging a desire. It's really shocking how mindless I have been about indulging almost every pleasure willy nilly without much thought of the consequences. (delusion! and fearlessness of wrongdoing!) I was surprised to notice that the nagging craving does go away, imagine that! Also shocking (and liberating to realize!) is the very very strongly held perception that indulging our desires leads to lasting happiness, it's a lie! How wonderful to taste freedom in moments of cutting the chain, not indulging desire, awakening right there in that moment to non-greed, to liberation! May we all cultivate the light of Perfect Wisdom and dispel the darkness of ignorance, may we all awaken through heedfulness, as the Buddha advised in his last words. Sadhu, sadhu, sadhu! __/\__
