- Part 1: Our first leg on the way to the Cubcrafter Fly-In in Elkton, KY. This was from our home field south of Atlanta to GE11 (Hogjowl). Lot's of windshear on approach but a great property to take a break on our adventure north bound! The rest of the flight & fly-in will be shared in future videos :D

Nice video. When landing, speed saves, because you can always slow down when the time comes, but sometimes you can't speed up quick enough.

Great Video! ✈️ Just a small tip: Be sure to set the audio type of the ATC and intercom audio to “mono” in your editing software on the next video, because you hear it just on one ear when using stereo headphones 🎧

Absolutely!! Will do! Yes we get all types of planes in. My home field is about 3,000 feet long

Hi Mindy! First off, cool video and glad to see you’re making more of these of late. Did I hear you right in that you bought this Cub? Is it brand new, or of recent vintage? FYI, I saw an AOPA article just today about a tricycle-geared Cub version that’s been certified. Not sure if or when you might see one on the field, but it’d be interesting to see which of the two you’d prefer more. Be well.
Mine is a 2007 cubcrafter sport cub. I did see that tricycle gear version. Super interesting. I’d like to fly one to see what it’s like!

Normal noise! At least for us. We live about mid field. Good question though for our neighboring communities. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt to have the trees blocking some noise 😅

I find it odd that this fabric plane is significantly heavier than most full bodied low wing LSAs. My Evektor weighs a full 100kg less with same horse power.
And your model is a light cub. Xcub weighs almost double that of a light low wing LSA

I'm curious why you didn't slip it to the runway. In the video you looked high, which may have been appropriate for that runway. Video vs reality perspective. I could be way off. Love your videos by the way. Stumbled across you from Steveo videos. Love the dreamcicle too!
Charles Bowman hm it could look high for a number of reasons...I was over a valley & the runway was on a shelf, or I was being brought up and down like crazy in some bumps, but at any rate...needed to keep my speed up through the wind shear and got it landed on the front part of the runway. That’s all I could ask for 😂 I shy away from slipping and putting the plane into a cross controlled scenario with such strong shear that could put me into a stall at any time. Which would then be a spin in that situation
