What do you think a solution to this issue is? Share your positive resolutions with us here.
Thank you so much for bringing light to this issue. It's yet another example of "regular Americans" being ignored for millionaire interests. What can be done to resolve? That's a huge question. Criminalizing "lobbying" would help. It's a huge undertaking but companies effectively buying our lawmakers affect so many towns across the whole country. It's heartbreaking.
+Lucy Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!!
I’m a coal miners granddaughter, from another time and country.
He didn’t know any better when he started in 1928, but he got the black lung and was disabled before he was 50.
Many children in my school had leukaemia and other blood cancers.
My dad died aged 46.
Thing is, they do know now, but it’s in their interests to keep that card close to their pure clean chests.
These topics really need be be brought to attention. Thanks Refinery 29 💜

Wow, obsessed with your videos about ethical and environmental friendly living! The video about MICA powder changed the way I thought about small actions I take in my life and this one brought a new challenge to my attention that needs to be considered and known. Thank you R29!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow, thank you for bringing this to our attention!
I really hope as many people will watch this as the ones about unfair beauty standards. Thank you for this informative and important video.
You guys always make wonderful and informative pieces! Thank you SO MUCH!
+meanjeanmccormack Thanks for being here and for watching!
I enjoy how refinery29 has these really informative pieces. Corporations like these need to be held accountable
Reminds me of the Dupont Teflon scandal
All I can say is, join the club. Natives faced the same and worse. So have black people. Capitalism only sees green.
How can we use the toxic waste dump in our favor that is not dangerous for the environment and the people?
Did you enjoy driving on those twisty yet well maintained country roads down in Greene County? That's what I enjoyed best about visiting the mines for about 5 years :p
I almost died once at bailey mine on a "man trip" vehicle when a huge slab of coal fell from the ceiling and landed behind my head on the vehicle. Luckily I was still wearing my helmet but my ears were ringing for awhile. I worked with a lot of their safety head honchos and they fortunately seem to take safety pretty seriously...so that was a shocker. I provided equipment and engineering services for the longwalls. I'm happy to be out of the industry. The government needs to step up and force Consol to ensure people's water.
The coal miners stand to lose a lot of money when the mines close. These guys often earn well into 6 figures as mechanics and whatnot while they're hundreds of feet underground. (They deserve it for the hazards and never seeing the sun.) That's a fuckton of money for southwestern PA. They won't earn that elsewhere as tradesmen. That's why they are very defensive about the company.
Please do other ways of getting rid of fact such as
I-Lipo (laser) and Sculpsure (not coolsculpting)
Love your vids as always💖
I was actually an original organizer of the blowback against Veronica. Consol didn't ask us to do anything.
This is an example of media BS and bad journalism. 👎
That backlash wasn't the result of Consol urging its employees. Lol
It was the result of local citizens in an act of solidarity to support our jobs and land. It's our land, and if we want to lease the rights on our private property, we can.
Go figure Veronica would want to make herself the victim of Consol. Meanwhile her dad worked for consol and that paid for her law degree and her mom has enjoyed income from a business coal miners and oil workers have patronized. 🙄
the sound editing is horrible, you can not hear the words because of theloud music
LMAO Serious issues with coal and has 9k views. Refinery29 has a rapunzel video with 250k views. priorities I guess
first :P
first :)
PLEASE DO A "WHAT IS ON MILLIE BOBBY BROWN'S BAG"
PLEASE THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC 🤍🙏🏼
How tone deaf of you to ask for that superficial bs under a video like this🙄
Migrate to other counties or states is the solution.
not everyone has the resources to do so
also, the human component of this argument is important too. You can't just make people who have lived there their whole lives, leave their homes.
