As an Apple Authorized Service Technician, we don't bother with batteries on iPads. We just replace the whole iPad. As you know when you take up that top layer of glass, getting it back on with zero dust/debris is near impossible. Thinking the only place other than third party that does actual batteries are Apple Stores themselves. I do not envy you lol.
Even Apple Stores don’t replace the battery. They just give them a different unit. They send the old one to be refurbished and get new battery and shell.
I rarely hang onto an iPad long enough for the batteries to go bad. At $250 on sale, it’s a consumable. I open my laptop once a year to get all the gooch out. If the battery looks puffy, I’ll send it to Rossmann to replace. Only happened once and he replaced a bad battery free for me under warranty.

My grandmother, who raised me while my mom was a single mother and working, she had dementia. It was very severe and prolonged. It went on for 5-7 years before her passing. I don’t know what type it was, if I’m being honest. But we suspect it was before the diagnosis and even longer than my estimation. It was painful and rapid at points with moments of rejoice for not progressing at times and her having moments of clarity and remembrance, only to be met with sudden rapid declines. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Thank you for these videos and deep empathy for what your family is experiencing with dementia.
@@SalemTechsperts I’m truly sorry to hear that. I admit I don’t know much about dementia, but I understand it’s irreversible. I service elevators in Sydney Australia. A tenant in an apartment calls up saying his son had "posted" his work ipad to his grandmother down the gap between the doors 😮. I asked him from what floor. 14th floors? 😮😮 I honestly asked him exactly what did he expect to find & it was at that time $400 chargeable call out. I told him I expected there'd be nothing left but dust, but he insisted so he could return it to work. He didn't tell me he had one of kiddie cases with the love handles. The ipad was totally functional & didn't have a mark on. We both couldn't believe it falling from so high up & it took the beating of it life. Of course, he didn't tell his work. 😂
Oh man that holding the digitizer on a box of nitrile gloves. Literally did that in the last week, only difference is mine were size L which barely fit. Working on iPads with giant bear hands is... well I have the largest collection of pliers and tweezers in the building for a reason. It is absolutely astonishing how needlessly hard some of these battery replacements get. Please just make the cables long enough so that everything can lay flat on my desk so I don't have to rest stuff on glove boxes anymore apple please. Honestly my biggest gripe with modern tech might be battery replacements, they really need to be easy to do given the fact that if a battery device lives long enough it *will* need one.
I’m just now realizing I grew up right down the road from here and remember my dad going to your shop when it first opened. Used to shop at that Crosbys all the time and used to go to sidelines with my dad

Somehow I cracked the copper path of the digitiser in the camera location and had to replace not only a battery, but a whole screen. I swear, disassembling Apple's devices is like playing a Russian roulette.
Glad to see that the techniques I used to replace the battery in my LG phone being validated by The Greatest Technician That Ever Lived! I don't keep the correct kind of adhesive strips, so I had to buy a new back plate that came with them. Good tweezers for electronics... befriend someone who works in an OR in hospital. The implements they use can only be sterilized a certain number of times, after which they simply get chucked. Ask that person to dumpster dive diffent sizes of forceps and tweezers for you. Trust me, you won't regret following this advice. I can't even remember the number of times I avoided time consuming further disassemby and re-assembly by using the long ass tweezers they use to recover a dropped screw, which wouldn't "rattle out", from *WAY* down in a device.
Certified Apple Hater here, but you are right. I always tell people "Simple devices for simple minds" because it's so easy for most people to use. The lack of customization is a bonus when dealing with non tech savvy people because you can't accidentally change which app your texts go through or whatever. Apple is overpriced and WAY overhyped, but they know what they are doing.
I work in the enterprise division of a local repair company and about half of our repairs by volume are iPads. If youre looking for some more tips for iPad repair, 1: I would recommend heating the frame before you remove the battery 2: as long as you can get the old digitzer adhesive fairly flat and you dont have any bald spots you can just slap it back on the heat plate afterwards and it'll seal right up. Also sorry about the shitty parts luck thats why we test the device before we seal it back up
the way i deal with non power users and android is I install a remote desktop solution on it that i can access and repair their device but i dont think there is one for apple.generally i steer everyone far far away from crapple products and towards stuff that is actually fixable and can be changed to what they need it to do.
They don’t but it’s cheaper than manufacturing mounts for screws and then providing screws that need to be installed during production. Saves them like $1
can you do a tutorial or a video recommending gaming laptops that aren't absolutely trash to repair? like laptops that have actual spares and stuff like that

Also sorry about the shitty parts luck thats why we test the device before we seal it back up
love your sense of humor
I love you
the way i deal with non power users and android is I install a remote desktop solution on it that i can access and repair their device but i dont think there is one for apple.generally i steer everyone far far away from crapple products and towards stuff that is actually fixable and can be changed to what they need it to do.
The weather is insane for real
3 days ago lava poured from the sky and today liquid nitrogen fell from the sky
Why do batteries even need so much glue? Ngl if companies would spend less if they used less glue
They don’t but it’s cheaper than manufacturing mounts for screws and then providing screws that need to be installed during production. Saves them like $1

At 2:26 an additional "Respawning in 3... 2... 1..." could be added... Ok, I am a gamer, but you get the idea :D
I’ve already done that in a previous video with the Halo countdown, so I try to avoid doing it for a little bit
@@SalemTechsperts Oooh, I didn't finish that fully... Gonna catch up now!
can you do a tutorial or a video recommending gaming laptops that aren't absolutely trash to repair? like laptops that have actual spares and stuff like that
Not this coming up today
Found out that my Pixel 7a, A PHONE THAT IVE OWNED FOR ONLY A YEAR AND A HALF, has its battery swollen, I'm so pissed and frustrated, never buying a pixel ever again
It happens to every manufacturer man. iFixit sells genuine Pixel parts. Replace that battery and that phone will be good to go for a while
@@SalemTechspertsI will be sending it to the US and hopefully get a replacement from Google itself, when it gets back I'm getting rid of it and buying a new one, I've had worse cheaper phones and something like that never happened to me before.
Also, this seems to be a bigger issue, I've seen online wayyyyy too many pixel 7a owners with the same thing, and started happening in the last three months all of the sudden, that really seems fishy

As someone who was a tech way back in the 20th, I still can't get over the gloves.
