Gargoyles are adorable but they're little night Acrobats! They love to fling themselves around like nuts in the middle of the night and scare the crap out of me lmao
My BP is often out and about exploring during the day. He loves to climb. He will spend days out just climbing around and exploring. Other days, he just sits in one of his hides and relaxes. My daughter's BP is rarely out. My BCI rarely uses his hides. My BRB rarely comes out. They are all individuals. My frogs I rarely see, but that is common for dart frogs.
For my rainbowboa enclosure I have a "machine" that sprais water to keep the humidity up, and it is loud when it goes on. I'm used to it so I can just sleep through it, but when my friends slept in my room they told me that they couldnt sleep because this machine went on so often and woke them up😅
Agree mostly. Crespuculars are sometimes a bit odd though... my male BP is most active at lights on and for the next hour or three. My female is active at lights off and lots of the night. I do feed them both during their dark time. Female is also hugely inquisitive and will pop her head out of whichever hides she's in at any times she likes. BPs simply are not nocturnal. Brilliant video. Always good to watch. 💯
@@reptiliangarden I like the fancy name but they are just simply black eyed tree frogs and pictures do not do them justice lemme tell you. What sold me when our daughter asked for them was those BIG black bubbly eyes LOL
these are all good points. The funny thing is watching ball pythons at expos. The less than yearlings are are all awake and active and acting like dogs at the shelter saying pick me pick me, and the adults that are brought are usually sleeping like they can't be bothered at all with the prospect of a new home. lol
I handle all my animals during the day. Primarily because if I handle one at night I need the light on and it negatively affects all the other animals. It's never ever had an impact on trust. I let them know what's happening, they recognize the signs, and they come to me if they're feeling some outside enrichment, if they're not I leave them be unless I have to move them. I've also handled them at night and it was fine, they weren't super over the top or anything, but the animals who had to deal with external light that weren't being handled weren't thrilled.
I mean, it'll be a lot less bright at night. I just have one small lamp, to the left of the tank, in my room and the sides of my vivarium are foamed over.
Rather than handle them during the day when it erodes trust, why not interact with them on their time and try to build an actual relationship where they actually behave when they're awake and alert. Reptiles, especially snakes aren't stupid and are more than capable of learning who you are and associating you with safety and not being food. The other thing is that I feel like it needs to be mentioned that most nocturnal species need small amounts of UVB to process vitamin D. The Reptiles and Research channel does a lot of points on this. Otherwise absolutely quality video as always!
I completely agree! If you are trying to build trust it is better to do it on their terms. If you have to do cleaning in the setup it is just easier to take them out during the day! And I wish I added the UVB point! Thanks for mentioning it!
I kinda disagree. When my BRB is cruising around at night that is when she least wants to be handled and tends to stress her out, plus I want her to feel comfortable exploring without being interrupted. She is much calmer and cuddlier when I gently wake her up in the day. She is sedentary for 70% of her day she gets plenty of rest lol.
@@TonerLow where I'm coming from is certainly not the universal situation, but I have the area of my house where I hang out at night watching tv, gaming,, etc set up pretty well where the snakes can explore and I don't really have to restrict their movement aside from redirecting them when they start sniffing around places they could get stuck or otherwise be in a dangerous situation. One of my regius is all about saying hi, asking for pets and being handled. My other would rather ignore me and explore, and I'm pretty sure just sees me as his taxi service to the exercise area, but I'm so grateful that I'm able to learn their personalities.
Yes ,,,,, Missed ya ,,, great vid ,,,, sweet tips ,,,

The babies are always pumped! I feel like a lot of it is just that they're always hungry lol
@@reptiliangarden yes, this is very likely. lol. It was so funny to watch them in Minneapolis yesterday at the expo.

Does it have to be like completely dark for a crestie?

My ball python will pretty much eat day or night. He might be an unusual snake, but then again on my pets are normal.
Always hungry, same. lol
Man Casper definitely became a big boy. They should change his name to Casper the big ghost
Big friendly ghost!
