    Nothing better than snek hugs from a big, thick bodied boa. So relaxing. When I had Covid REALLY bad both times, my reptiles sure helped me keep my head straight.

    The anxiety part is so me too , I shy away from crowds . No matter how big or small and it’s always hard for me to start convos or talk . I find happiness in having animals also ♥️

    I've been planning on getting a snake as an emotional support animal to help me with depression, if I can ever get my SSI.

    I love this topic and wish more people would consider this as a more accessible content to spread awareness of. I had a Cane Corso as my emotional support animal. Since he was a large breed dog his lifespan was limited. I was blessed enough to have him until he was 16, but losing him was far harder than I expected. I spiraled in a way i didn’t expect when it was suggested to me to get an emotional support animal in the first place. I think society is caught up on the fluffy being cute. But then forgets about allergies, ability to get up and walk your pet, cost of food and so on. I was not able to get another dog for this knowing that he or she would die and i would yet again have to “replace” my emotional support animal time and time again saying i live a long life myself. The benefit of a good majority of reptiles is their long lives. I now have a 2 year old Cuban Rock Iguana. He is just as affectionate, just as responsive and quite intelligent. He also will live the rest of my life with me. I can love him unconditionally and ease the stress and anxiety that he will die in a few years because I know we will grow old together. We can go to the park and beach like a person with a dog. We order out so we don’t break any food laws. He needs sunlight like i do which motivates me to go outside for both our health. But should it be cold, rainy or i am having a bad day he will not suffer from missing a walk. And that is a comfort worth educating the public about. Another option, even if it is not the norm. Educational content like this is so important thank you. ❤

    1) Only dogs and in rare cases, miniature horses can be registered ADA service animals. 2) I'm never going to claim my snakes are emotional supports animals. However, my work is stressful and fast paced, and I'm constantly thinking quickly on my feet.... if I use fast movements with my animals, I know I will stress them out, so I have to intentionally calm myself to interact with them, and this is beneficial to me. And I am on the spectrum.

    I have watched all of your Brazilian Rainbow Boa videos, and just got my own 14 week old baby boa this past weekend. So far so good! I have been monitoring the humidity and temp all day long because I am very paranoid it is going to drop. But, they took their first meal the second day here! Also, I have been watching them with a night vision camera at night, and they have been out and about exploring every inch of their 5x2x2 bioactive grow out enclosure.

      @@luyandalamula9009 that is so exciting! I definitely get the nervousness. I would 10/10 recommend getting a govee hygrometer or some other smart digital hygrometer so you can keep up with the levels easily on your phone. Also, I use the Kasa smart camera mounted inside the enclosure to check up on them at night. And that has really given me a great peace of mind.

    When I'm stressed or had a bad day, cuddling my bearded dragon helps. I can get drained from other people, so reptiles, my beardy especially, help with that! I hope to get a slow snake someday. I've been hearing ball pythons are the way to go, but continuing to research for if and when the time comes. It would be nice to have a snake that can be chill like a beardy can.

    My Black Milk is without a doubt an ESA. He's very shy and skittish at times, but once I get him out and handle him I'm instantly at peace. Snakes (well the docile captive bred ones) are so calming.
    Also I'm with you on the slow moving. My Crested Gecko was too jumpy and fast and insane. My Milk is far from slow moving - my next snake will probably be a Boa 😂

    I feel like reptiles can be emotional support animals however taking them places is a step too far for me as they’re not going to be able to regulate their body temperature and it just seems plain stressful for the animal. As well as this, there will always be a few ignorant people who dislike reptiles and I don’t want to expose myself to people’s negative opinions or hurtful comments about my animals! 😅

    • @reptiliangarden
      @reptiliangarden  3 дня назад

      I totally agree! It’s important for us to put the animals well being first and usually going out and about with them can be stressful for them.

  • @BooneeXCdad
    @BooneeXCdad 3 дня назад

    No. Enjoying or loving your reptiles does not qualify them as an emotional support animal. If liking something so much that it brings you relaxation and pleasure, then a book or an antique chair could suffice.

      The only qualification for emotional support would be a doctor note. Yes, many other things can bring pleasure and relaxation as well!
