The image: Doesn't Ivan look every inch the King when he realises that the common people have walked all the way from Moscow to Alexandrova Sloboda to beg him to return (theaestheticof...)
And the way he bows his head in the foreground of the image, as if in submission, whilst we see the endless hordes of people snaking around from the horizon, on the barren snowscape behind him - begging him to return to Moscow (theaestheticof...)
But compare that with teh wonderfully melodramatic 'woe is me' act we see at the beginning of the clip - theaestheticof...

As often, a discerning commentator on this channel has noted the similarity between the final scene of Sir Arne's Treasure where people process across the snowy wasteland with the body of Elsalill ( • Sir Arne's Treasure (1... ) and this scene in which where the citizens of Moscow snake in procession across a wintry landscape in appeal to the self-exiled Tsar to return to his capital.
