Yeah. Marta holds the key to making Atlanta a great city but they suck

Rail access would be everywhere if it were up to MARTA

There are plenty of places to put in light rail that don't ruin one of the best things to happen to Atlanta, the Beltline. The Eastside trail is a recreational area and train tracks don't need to run through recreational areas. This is 300 million to destroy a park so that we can have empty street cars.

Seems like they have no intention of adding this rail anytime soon. Even the “pinch points” were weird like give the rail priority through the tunnel and bring the pedestrian walkway up to the level of the bridge? It’s weird how little urgency they have for this.

Marta would never get it done in 3 years

@@Trainsandstuffandstuff blame the incumbent industries who are dragging their feet to keep car culture alive here. People who are able to integrate a train commute into their lifestyle, NEVER go back. Good rail could mean a tranquil work commute from Alpharetta to Decatur within 45 minutes instead of a 90 minute slog through 400/285. Atlanta citizens have tunnel vision for cars but have never tried taking MARTA bc it's never had a great reputation within the city. If it works, and has value, it WILL be profitable. There's a reason why a good train system is a staple for almost every big city in the world.

To get anything done you're going to have to fire all these people. Sorry not sorry there are solutions automated people movers things like that that could be put in very economically this business of sitting around and debating about it and not doing anything is for the birds

But you’re fine with adding 8 more lanes of interstate and sitting in traffic over an hour everyday? Make an honest effort to understand how transit can improve a metro area and the lives of people who live in them and you won’t think it’s a waste

@@austingriffith3598 Of course he is okay with more lanes and traffic. He probably sits in his nice air conditioned Lincoln, with a smug look on his face, while he commutes to his white collar 100k job. What he doesn't realize is that, even if HE did not use it, he would still benefit, from it, when traffic moves a little better, for him, on 285, because people have another way to get around the perimeter.
