I remember when the teaser trailer for Cars 3 came out, the internet lost their shit over Lightning’s crash.
It was terrifying to see
That was definitely a you had to be there moment part of the internet
Literally Cars was the first movie I ever watched as a baby, so seeing that teaser made me have plenty of sleepless nights
At first, I thought it was fan made cause there was no way Disney was going to show this.
Not to mention the way the first ads were showed him flying in the crash and it said “nothing will be the same”. Like my god that was stressful
Doc’s part in this movie was done entirely with unused archive recordings of Paul Newman from the first movie. I can’t think of a bigger tribute to both the actor and the character. I'm so glad we got to see him one last time.
There was a lot left from him, they finally got a chance to show us
absolutely, very glad they came back with this after 2 (i found it a bit ridiculous)
When the teaser first came out, everyone lost their minds over Lightning's crash. I love how Lightning's journey in this movie parallels Doc's. It felt like a fitting tribute.
Yeah and then the actual movie comes and it glosses over it because we see it for a whole 25 seconds
I love that this movie returns to its motorsport roots, the ending is so satisfying, and I love it's message about finding a new purpose in the field you love.
Am I the only one who wanted to see Jackson Storm’s reaction to losing? He literally disappeared the moment the race was over. Can’t imagine being the only one.
He probably disappeared irl
After losing too a first timer while being the favorite to win and also doing dirty tricks on the last round ?
I would've disappear too 😂😅
I know, right!
I can't imagine comment section without you!
@@amirreza1937I mean every racer there lost to a first timer and the move wasn’t dirty if it’s not against the rules
@@Shadowcrawlerrr But storm was the favorite to win (imagine , if a newbi ankle breaks a nobody it's not a big deal but if he does that to LeBron it's way more embarrassing)
And no just because its legal doesn't mean it not dirty like in football you can waist time and it's considered dirty even if it's not against the rules
As a racing driver, we do NOT wear diapers. We're so focused on driving we forget we even need to pee or go to the toilet. In some extreme cases i've heard of guys just peeing in their suit but that's it
Also wouldn't a diaper be flammable? I know you guys got protective suits, but I wouldn't keep want something that could catch fire while racing near my groin.
As a truckdriver driving delivery for stuff that can be 3hrs away, the need to poo and pee don't come until you start getting close to your destination or you finally stop driving, it's like your body finally knows. That and I think sitting comfy in the car/truck just makes you not feel that need.
@@BaeBunni It stops being flammable after use.
Doc Hudson was based on a real life racer from the original era of Daytona 500. The original voice actor for him was that actual racer.
this movie actually used the original voice actor! they had a bunch of leftover voice lines from the first movie and they used them for this one
Fun fact: The computer voice Hamilton is voiced by 7-time Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton. The Italian and German dubs have the character voiced by 4-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel, and the Spanish dub by 2-time champion Fernando Alonso.
Does his name change for the different drivers voicing him?
@Lilpenguino1028 Yup, Vettel's versions are called Sebastian in German and Vettel in Italian, Alonso's version is called Fernando
@TheGamingBadger2 awesome! I love the little details like that
This movie was perfect in my opinion, one of the best "passing the torch" stories I've seen.
Ruff is right, we were too harsh on Cars 2, I do like the premise of the spies but it didn't feel like a sequel to Cars 1 which was my only complain at the time, Cars 3 should've been 2, while Cars 2 should've been a spin off movie.
For the 500 laps thing: it's not 500 laps, it's 500 miles. Meaning that the track they are on is 1 mile long. Nascar originally started as an endurance race for 500 miles and wasnt strictly oval racing. Races are just predominantly ovals. Daytona is 2.5 miles long, making it 200 laps.
The Bristol races r 500 laps
@@GoobiesFunZonethat's true. I forgot that shorter tracks like Bristol are laps, rather than miles.
Yeah and all the criticism about NASCAR is kinda ridiculous. Like, nobody ever said they had to like motorsports. I could call anime stuff they watch stupid because I don't get anime myself, but I don't do that because I respect what people enjoy. Motorsports like NASCAR are something I've always enjoyed and defending it to people gets tiring, no pun intended.
@@jordanwolfson8378 Its just ppl who don't understand it, if they were to watch a nascar race they wouldn't see it any further than cars just driving around and around for no reason
@@jordanwolfson8378 I mean the meme started from f1 fans making fun of american nascar racing because f1 tracks are all curvy and stuff and nascar is just "going in a circle" so its not that its people who just dont get motorsports its motorsports enthusiasts who don't consider nascar a real motorsport. A better analogy would be like an anime fan making fun of onepiece fans because its "200 hours of boring filler with one episode thats good on repeat for 2000 hours." And then normies see the meme and are like "haha yeah one piece sucks" just to be in on the bit
I think the reason why mcqueen didn’t get an upgrade is because in nascar there is a rule where you you cannot change the engine in a NASCAR car during a race since it would give other race cars an unfair advantage despite the cars age
Do you mean 'in the middle of a race' or 'middle of a season' like they have to start and finish the whole season with the same main parts and can only change/upgrade them during the off season/practice season? (idk I have the terms right but I hope my question is clear enough)
@@Lilpenguino1028 During race weekends, save for road course and the tricky triangle, engine changes aren't allowed. In other seasons it is allowed up to 20 times per season but changing engine or the transmission forces you to start at the very back. Same with changing out the car entirely mid-race in event of a crash that totals one.
There's likely a different reason in-universe for why McQueen didn't get upgrades between race weekends.
@@sterthester437 I mean we know he's kind of full of himself, even after all of his growth through the first two movies, so the in-universe reason was probably vanity. He thought he was good enough and didn't need to upgrade; and then once the crash happened, he could have probably gone one of two ways: what we see in the movie (which continues to play into his self-perception of being good enough), or the more extreme direction of getting refitted for new parts. Disney/Pixar probably didn't want to promote using body modifications to fit in/make yourself happier/etc. so we got the former.
This is AN OLD Mcqueen. Visibly no sign but his parts are probably old. Still his realistic CANON TOP SPEED IS 200 MPH
Ay, shout out to another Code Lyoko fan. That show was amazing.
I belive in cars 2 he went 225 and if not that still over 200 , in my mind they nerfed him beacuse race cars get part replacments to keep they're speed up and after his crash he had a whole rebuild which shoud've given him his speed back
@@amirjamali5775 Yeah Storm talks tough shit but his top speed as a new line of car doesn't match Lightning's. Even the margin he had on Lightning as a rookie wasn't even close to how great the margin was Lightning had to the King and Chick as a rookie, he smoked those guys like they weren't even in the same race.
@@billbill6094gotta consider king and chick were kinda veterans, so to them mcqueen is what storm is to mcqueen
@ihax4uv179 King yes he was definitely out of his prime and was retiring I agree, but Chick had no excuse, King was racing for 3 decades and was still beating him.
I don't think anyone beats Lightning in terms of natural talent though, he singlehandedly made his entire generation of racers look slow and even past his prime, despite how Storm and the media laughed at him, he was still often coming in 3rd or 4th until his crash, competing with the new generation. I mean man had a devestating crash and after four months away had already increased his top speed 2 mph, going 198 when before the crash he never broke 196. The fact that Storm made Lighning look slow momths before he reached his top speed of 213, and Lightning in his prime used to be a steady 225, should show how much of a pure monster Lightning was. Lightning would've made Lightning look even slower than Storm did.
Storm doesn't even have great command of the track like Doc did and like he taught Lightning, as soon as someone caught his draft and he was no longer unimpeded in the optimal racing line, he didn't know what to do but cheat. He maintained that line due to advancements yes but it was a crutch, if he had to go against prime Lightning he wouldn't have had things so easy, the slowness of his competitors compared to the time of the greats boosted his talent a lot. Imagime him in a situation where he'd have to thread the needle or drift or navigate a crash or drive backwards, he'd fail.
My only complaint in the entire series is honestly how LITTLE Sally is in them. Like i like how Mcqueen trains Cruz but i feel like if Sally was there and was more present (as she was his motivation to slow down) she would be the one to help him see what doc did for him
Maybe in cars r she gets a greater role but hey it’s because she means a lot to McQueen that even if her scenes were limited she had great impact
She's Adrian In the Rocky 🥊 series. Present a lot in the first then sprinkled here and there when the protagonist needs her.
12:07 i remember seeing his paint marks on the race track, but it looked like blood from the distance 😬 Pixar wasnt playing
Fun Fact: Ugo Pagliai voiced Doc Hudson for the rest of the series after Paul Newman sadly passed away, this wasn't known that well at the time since Paul Newman still had pre-recorded lines for Cars 3 like the creators did for Cars 2
there was also a deleted scene where Doc and McQueen raced on last time, except Doc collapsed during the race, but the scene was deleted because it too depressing and tear-jerking to be in the movie
One more Cars-related thing you could react to is Mater’s Tall Tales. Those are series of fun little short movies, where Mater goes on some more insane adventures.
And maybe Cars on the Road since it takes place after this movie.
They would love Mater Tall Tales. Also the ghost light!!!
Theyll love the one where he had a crossover with planes. Oh they should watch planes too.
I choked on my ice cream when they started talking about how racers shit
13:37 funny thing about this theory, in PLANES (which takes place in the same universe), we see the main character Dusty adjust his torque and remove elements to himself (like his crop duster). He even gets new propellers, ones that are proven to help sky racers.
So, it is highly possible that Lightning COULDVE gotten some form of surgery to upkeep himself. However, I think the point is the TECH is what makes Jackson better. He doesn’t have raw talent, he’s relying on programming he was manufactured with. So, Jackson isn’t even cheating, he’s was just built for racing, down to his programming.
There's also the fact that while Dusty got engine changes and such, he never changed his actual body.
They made it a pretty big point that Jackson's entire body was more aerodynamic than Mcqueen's.
So Bree made me curious… Apparently the material in diapers is flammable, and therefore not permitted for safety reasons. Racers simply urinate in their suit and use the wind blowing into the cockpit to help it evaporate throughout the race 😅 Welp the more you know…
Thats wild
Ew
@@sortastupidvroom vroom 🏎️ 😂
@sortastupid As a huge Nascar fan, I love how Sean is familiar with it and even knows some of the drivers names. Please tell him I appreciate that😊
I honestly like this movie. Really ties together Lightning's journey. And honestly isnt really that different from what actual Nascar drivers go through in their career.
Also yall should totally react to the upcoming Daytona 500. I would 1000% watch that with yall lol
Yeah it was
Rookie is cocky and climbing up the ladder. Gets humbled
Famous racer competes in World Cup aka his peak (except it was about spies and the cup ended early)
Racer realizes he is old and can’t compete with the next generation. A more mid life crisis journey to reflect on himself and journey. Settles down and becomes like doc
I remember when Cadillac revealed the V Series R race car and it looked like very similar to Jackson Storm. That was a fun coincidence.
The way i see Cars in this universe pick their roles is all Cars are "born" a normal car (since we see little baby cars). As they get older and get bigger, their genetics and their upgrades determines what they will do for a career. Cars with parents who were maybe racers are naturally fast, are themselves naturally fast and choose a racing career, and upgrade to fit that. Similar to how people will modify normal cars for racing in real life. For Race Cars like Lightning and Jackson, they modified themselves growing up to become what they are and look like now. But theres a limit to how much you can modify. Just like how you cant modify a 30 year old car to race against a brand new race car. Cars wouldnt be compatible with newer technology and newer modifications. just like real life. So its a weird mix of genetics and body modification. Thats my take on it anyway
"It'd be crazy if he's dead" Ka-chow! 😂
Cars is such an odd bunch of a trilogy yet i liked them all despite of it.
This trilogy in my eyes beats any other in any franchise. (Though I’m biased due to growing up with the films.)
@@elliotmortimer8316you mean like it beats other trilogies by Disney or animation as a whole? I would argue Toy Story trilogy was better imo
@ as a whole. For me the Cars Trilogy is what I grew up with so I’m biased and love it more than anything, whilst those who grew up with Toy Story will have loved that trilogy.
not even a "what's up billy" just straight into the movie
Driver endurance is definitely part of the race. Being the fact that NASCAR engineers have designed these cars to practically go to the same speed accelerate the same and there really is no difference in performance. So the difference relies in the driver of who can hold the line the longest and take advantage when they can. Everyone just goes in person to stand by the fence and watch cars Go zoom and have a blast of wind knock you over
I've always liked the little trend with trilogies that span a decade where the third movie is like "let's make it hurt for all the people who were kids when this started and are now adults. Let's end Lightning's career. Let's separate Hiccup and Toothless. Let's have Andy go to college and give his toys away." I like that sort of long term formula where you have the first two movies that a generation is currently growing up on and having fun with, and then the final movie comes, that generation is grown up, so it's time for them to face a little reality because their childhood has grown up too, and sometimes, things have to end.
And then there were the Star Wars sequels which I feel like tried to follow the steps without really understanding the importance of them or how to time them. Which makes me appreciate the other movies you mentioned more for getting right something that can be done wrong.
9:45 not to mention the fact that the turns are almost vertical. I didn’t know that till I went the Daytona 500. The slope on those turns is crazy
Its actually crazy that one leads so perfectly into three.
Two doesn't even get a mention
I wonder why
Actually there was a mention of cars 2 ( spoilers) before the Florida 500 lighting was talking to a yellow car and I think that was one of the cars for the grand prie
Jeff Gorvette
They don't have to shit because they're cars and they take oil, petrol/diesel, into their tank, it works like a normal car, it comes out of their exhaust pipes in the form of soot or smoke (depends if diesel or petrol).
You're correct, the comments never lie. You will watch Grave of the Fireflies and smile the entire time.
😂😭
Hell yeah
The bit about only the number having to be out on the race track regardless of the driver is actually accurate. You can change drivers mid race.
I have a funny story about Nathan Fillion, who does voice Sterling in this.
He comes from Edmonton Alberta Canada, like myself, and actually went to the same high school I did.
And, in middle school, I actually met him, because my principal is his brother, and I got to take picture with him and bragged to everyone for a week lol 😂
Good for you 😊
You guys need to watch maters tall tales next you'll love em
You guys should react/do a quick run through of the pixar theory. Its a theory that explains how every pixar movie is connected, and usually it speaks about how cars look like cars but are actually evolved bugs and the anatomy of the cars ect 🤣
Speaking of cars movies, the 2008 Speed Racer movie would be a fun watch
I second this, I’m always on the edge of my seat after the last race
9:18 It's not cheating, it's optimal. You stay within the outer ring when driving down the straight road, and then make a turn at the inner ring and drive back into the outer ring; rinse and repeat. Hence the constant turn radius and the transitional cornering ability, as listed on the wall.
The 4th Cars film has been confirmed, with 'the redemption' of Mcqueen, I can't wait for that to come out...
Cars 4 has not been confirmed. The Disney Brazil account you heard this from was fake.
Remember the Rocky movies? Rocky was trained by Apollo to beat the Russian boxer? The actor who played Apollo? Carl Weathers...
The biggest problem with cars 2 is the tone is completely different from the cars 1, in that movie you go from a story about a racer slowing down and finding joy in the simpler things in life to some high stakes conspiracy with death and international terrorism, it’s also not helped by this movie returning to the simple story of that same racer from the first movie trying to prove he’s still got it, maybe if they had called it anything but cars 2 or treated it as a spinoff it wouldn’t be as hated
Many people, including myself, find Cars 2 a lot more tolerable if you just pretend it's a film-length Mater's Tall Tales.
@@TheFiremindbut CANON!
…right?
Did this get reuploaded, or did I dream watching this? lol
It's new. You dreaming about us?
@@sortastupid I don't know... I'm sure I've watched it, because I've seen the 9/11 comment about cars Ruff made... but now I'm confused😂
I did see it on the feed as a members only thing first but that's it
@@noramarie2891Maybe u saw the future 🤷♂️
@@noramarie2891you ain’t the only one tripping brother I thought they uploaded this to a while back 😂
Mater and the Ghost Light - best short ever 😂👌
Also need to remember Mcqueen helped King finish his final race after the crash in Cars 1. Mcqueen is an honoary Dinaco member in Tex eyes. So Tex was willing to step in and let Mcqueen continue to do what he wanted, by buying Rustez.
I really liked how they had him go to the cars version of Appalachian mountains to train and actually do some Moon Running since I think that’s where NASCAR originated
I was driving to work one day and saw a sports car with a perfect "fabulous lightning McQueen" paint job. I wish I could have gotten a picture
The nascar rule is you can have multiple backup cars for a race weekend if you crash in qualifying or practice.
However once the race starts you only have 1 car. But you can get a fill in driver at any point in the race if needed. Once a driver had a leg injury and only ran 30 laps before being swapped out for another driver, but since the injured driver started the race in that car, they got whatever points the fill in driver got. Once a driver got there first career win out off of this rule.
Nascar allowing driver swaps at pit stops likely overrides the car rules in this universe, since the cars and driver are the same people.
Certain race types have teams, which includes multiple cars and drivers. I believe most races have switches, endurance races especially. Nascar, which this is based on, does allow drivers to switch out during pit stops so if a driver really has to go that is an option.
What’s so strange about Cars 3 is that everybody acts like McQueen is ancient or something
Don't you mean "Cars 3"?
Well that's kind of the thing about sports. It really doesn't take long until the younger competers outpace the older ones even if they were the best and not even that old
He kinda is
He doesnt have any upgrades to actually match the new generation of eletric racing cars
Well yeah think about it it’s how we view technology. Think of phones, we’ve had touch screens for how long and the first models are old by now compared to the new ones
I mean yeah; that’s how it goes. 39 is still a relatively young age but in the sports world that’s a bit too old.
27:19 Ay, Southern Oregon Speedway represent! It's still here and we still have races all summer!
Fun Fact: McQueen is in his 40s
Confirmed by the director
You guys should now watch the *film theory on cars.*
2:01 Cars don't wear diapers, they don't wear any clothes besides changing their tires.
The tires and their metalic painting are their clothes
They are talking about actual Nascar racers lmao
I’m laughing my ass of rn at this comment lol
Nascar races always have lap counts and mile counts which are both triple-digit. One example of a 500-lap Nascar race (2024 season) is the Food City 500, clocking in at about 266.5 miles. The 263-mile Xfinity 500 is another.
Studying both Script Consultation and Folklore, I came to the conclusion that some worlds are better left unexplained.
13:17 GMCs bro! They’re making Genetically Modified Cars!
i loved a lot more of the lighter details and such to how it also is now with racing, the small details i liked were yeah all the dust on him because he was depressed and locking himself away, all of the clear changes from old to new- even explaining the speed stuff, How cruz was seemingly the only trainer and maybe even the only female car that was racing- we only see a handful of the cars and pretty sure even if they dont speak its the details how they do with their eyes? even more so when they talked about Doc how his friend needed to take a number, sure it was an older older car- And people could superficially see Mater loving to do the crazy 8's ALSO if its not a reference i dont know WHAT it would be if anything by the school bus should basically be referenced to the magic school bus "ms frizzle"
I agree Cars 2 is definitely more for fun. It expanded the world as well. This one though felt really good. I love all the honor they gave to Doc and showing the passing of the torch.
Honestly, I agree with Lightning. Even though his outburst on Cruz was harsh, his reasoning was valid. When they first met, she literally put him on numerous exercises that didn't click with him, nor did it help him have the proper knowledge of the simulator. If you were in a gym and you had a trainer had constantly made you follow a VR program and did not know how to spot you when your career is at stake, you would be annoyed too.
I did not know they made a 3rd, flew complete under my radar. But saw this reaction and watched it on Disney plus. You are right, it’s a good conclusion to his story.
"Do the flip!"
"Do the roar!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The only reason Doc died because the voice actor died
Seeing the teaser with Lightning having that violent crash, I honestly thought he was going to die. Or he’d be dying throughout the movie in sort of a Arthur Morgan situation
Like the first movie, when this film wants to go emotional it really does it.
Just little moments here and there hit surprisingly deeply. Then of course there's the more direct moments like Cruz talking about her dreams of being a racer. Great stuff
I won’t forget when they first revealed the teaser of Lightning crashing I couldn’t believe it I thought he was gonna die
Nothing to do with cars lol, but I desperately want them to watch spirit stallion of the Cimarron
Definitely need to watch Planes and Planes 2! They are very good and a cool expansion of the Cars universe! 👍😎🔥💯
This Cars movie was such an amazing surprise and really hit me right in the feels as someone who's getting older and looking to pass on my best aspects to the next generation.
In 2004 NASCAR driver Tony Stewart won a race after soiling himself and it was a road course where you turn left and right
22:46 He Crushed!!
25:27 😂😂😂
46:05 Awesome!!!
48:00 Sweet!
For those who don't know, in Nascar, if a driver for or during a race needs a fill-in driver to finish the race, the original driver also gets credited wherever the relief guy finishes in said race, including 1st
The conversation was interesting on this one, we went from driver's dipers to wheres is the soul in the engine, in the chasis? and its not even half movie yet!
I still remember how crazy the reactions were to the teaser trailer
Cars 1-3 are voice by real NASCAR DRIVERS AND LEGENDS. Especially in Cars 1&2, the announcer who goes " BOOGITTY BOOGITTY BOOGITY BOYS LETS GO RACING", his name is Darrell Waltrip but in the movie his name is Darrell Cartrip
If you’re still interested in this movie’s world, Lightning and Mater have a short animated series where they’re on a roadtrip, and Cruz makes a cameo at the end of that one. There’s also the two spinoff Planes movies, which are actually pretty good
17:10... I loved Cars 2
A change in taste😊😊
20:48... I feel bad for old cars now😢😢😢
32:52...🤣🤣🤣
46:51... maybe they will, remember some sequels take even more than a decade to make it perfect
Like I want a BIG HERO 6 2 very much
Now time for planes and planes 2
Most drivers don't wear diapers, most have a hard time going while that much stress.
3:33 a woman being wrong!? JK love the reactions guys
Damn 😂 42:55 was a replay of Summer and Beth. "Today is the day you bacame a woman"😅
Now time to watch Mater's tall tales
according to google they dont wear dippers because its a safety hazard
*This is probably my favorite Cars movie.*
No joke, this film was awesome! My go-to is still the 2nd one, but I love how grounded this film was, a nice conclusion to this trilogy.
Maybe it’s because chick hicks was always bodychecking his opponents in the first movie but I’ve always imagined the races as the roller derby instead of a foot race but I’d love to know if anyone else had the same thought
Where on earth did you get the idea the Cars in the movies where Diapers?
They’re CARS
So many Rocky allegories with this movie
I liked the second movie if I looked at it as a stand alone rather than a sequel.
This movie though, this one made me cry. I grew up with these movies, so seeing Lightning grow old and retire and start training someone new was emotional. I was eight when the first movie came out, and when this one came out I was an adult. It was a wild experience.
I lost track for a moment and then they were talking about adult diappers, I was soooo confuse. lol
Love you guys videos
Lmaooo the way they’re treating him has me weakkkk💀
Now I know why I don't remember anything about this movie. I was so traumatized by the crash I wiped my memory.
That or I never saw it, which IS more likely, but the fact I'm not 100% certain says a lot about how valid the former is.
The new cars are like Genetic grown babies where they are engineered with all the best genetics and eradicates the ones prone to illnesses. Soooo the new cars are genetically built I guess.
There is also a film about genetic grown people i think it is based on a book and it is wild, i cant remember the movie but the book is called "perfect people"
Ah yes the cars world questions we’ve all been asking for years
24 hour Le Mans race is 24 hrs but everyone has 2 drivers and they take turns in shifts, 1 for 12 and the other for 12. But in NASCAR now they do 25 or 50 laps at a time. They call it "competitive caution".In NASCAR including the Daytona 500, 1 lap is at least over 2 miles. It depends on how big is the track and how fast they are going. Sometimes 1 lap = 2 miles. So basically they will do 250 laps. 250×2=500. Other tracks are different sizes
Now every time I hear them question the logistics of the Cars universe, I think: The Pixar Theory! Seriously tho, look it up, it's so fun!
Enjoyed y'all watching Cars
Few things.
Should check out Planes.
Also Talladega knights is a much watch if you haven't seen it. 😅
yall should react to the cars 3 behind the scenes b/c some of the original scenes and original ending are actually quite interesting for this movie
Hell yeah let’s goooooo!
Honestly just going by plot alone Cars 3 feels like it should’ve been Cars 2 and Cars 2 should’ve been cars 3.
Thanks for making reaction videos.
Finally! I was waiting for this
