So they make the same mistake over and over again. Sri Lankan are a country that has never been ruled as part of India in its 3000 years of recorded history, creating a unique people of their own through Buddhism and the Sinhala language. Being located in the middle of the Indian Ocean that connects three continents, it is a country that has maintained strong trade relations with many countries of the world for thousands of years.If we talk China, Sri Lanka maintains a long-term relationship with Buddhism and trades with any country in the world. The war of Tamil Eelam terrorists lasted for 30 years and Sri Lankans have the pain of killing thousands of innocent Sri Lankans and destroying the economy. This experience Sri Lankans know very well how to deal with the countries that broke Sri Lanka's trust during this war. Sri Lankans are well aware of India's duplicitous and hypocritical policy towards Sri Lanka. Sri Lankans do not believe in the actions of the Indian government. But Sri Lanka is a friendly country and gets along well with common Indians.

Unlike some journalists who imagine that they are on a higher pedestal and look down on the interviewee, she managed raise questions of controversy and perhaps on issues which are at her heart, with tact and informal diplomacy. She got her answer with regard to research vesels that military as well as scientific ships of all nationalities have visited Sri Lanka but publicity is given when some research ships come to Sri Lanka. Furthermore an emphatic stand that no spyship would be entertained was made. I suggest that Palki to do research as to how two Indian warships were docked in Hambantota Port, one which is supposed to be Chinese controlled, so that a clearer picture of the ground situation can be assesed by her.

As a small country you cannot totally forget china and work only with India. You have to work with both. As a good neighbour India should try to pass economic benefits to SL like what china is doing with Vietnam. India should try to share their economic fortunes like setting up manufacturing plants etc with neighboring countries for a better economically stabilised south asia region. SLs never forgot the support given by India during the crisis. China - well u need to manage them more strategically.

A very good interview! President of Sri Lanka urges India (via Palki”) to have an open mind and trust Sri Langka & Maldives to managed their own internal / external matters. These are also nations with own leadership and will know how to deal with their adversaries or partners. For example, what is wrong in connecting up with Myanmar & African Ports for a trade route? In fact India can even offer Chennai along the eastern coast as another connection 14:27 . Also what is wrong to allow Chinese vessels to dock -‘and being so suspicious of spying? Do you know when vessels dock, they have to pay for all the Port Dues / Pilotages and a chance of vessels to buy provisions & services? Have they set up a military base in Sri Langka? Neither have Sri Langka join any military pack, unlike India had joined Aukus? What have India do when US supplied military arms to Pakistan years ago? They maybe more is concern for you. What do you know about Sri Langka’ lost port? Was the port now fully owned or operated by China? China may have arranged the loans and build it but does not necessary that Sri Langka signed off the port to them. Isn’t now Sri Langka’s chance to have a new port facilities after the many years of no port renewal program? Now they can take bigger vessels and like the President said, even other military vessels also berth there. With the new improved port facilities what is the issue when brought up of the concern when effort is trying to streamline a trade route between Myanmar & the strategic port of Sri Langka? Isn’t this will also help war torn Myanmar to export and also bringing business to Sri Langka? There are also other new developments (but not military) in Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan, Nepal & Bhutan. But it does not mean these countries are enemy of India. Just like the President said, he maintained a cordial relationship with Modi. Of course, he needs to be nice to Modi & Xi, so that his country will benefit from both ends. Raja Raja failed. Cholas weren't able to conquer SL. They occupied the north for 70 years under insurgency before being driven out. No Indian empire was able to capture or conquer SL. She got her answer with regard to research vesels that military as well as scientific ships of all nationalities have visited Sri Lanka but publicity is given when some research ships come to Sri Lanka. Furthermore an emphatic stand that no spyship would be entertained was made. I suggest that Palki to do research as to how two Indian warships were docked in Hambantota Port, one which is supposed to be Chinese controlled, so that a clearer picture of the ground situation can be assesed by her.

Maldives is a sovereign nation and India must first understand that without being imperialist. Also Sri Lanka can't oppose the Maldivian stance as I previously said Maldives is a sovereign nation and haven't violated the international law or human rights. Also the bilateral relations between India and Maldives are not of the Sri Lankan interest as we are not a superpower to meddle in other issues, we have more internal problems to fix, 🇮🇳 & 🇲🇻 may solve their issues by themselves.

As a small country you cannot totally forget china and work only with India. You have to work with both. As a good neighbour India should try to pass economic benefits to SL like what china is doing with Vietnam. India should try to share their economic fortunes like setting up manufacturing plants etc with neighboring countries for a better economically stabilised south asia region. SLs never forgot the support given by India during the crisis. China - well u need to manage them more strategically.

A very good interview! President of Sri Lanka urges India (via Palki”) to have an open mind and trust Sri Langka & Maldives to managed their own internal / external matters. These are also nations with own leadership and will know how to deal with their adversaries or partners. For example, what is wrong in connecting up with Myanmar & African Ports for a trade route? In fact India can even offer Chennai along the eastern coast as another connection 14:27 . Also what is wrong to allow Chinese vessels to dock -‘and being so suspicious of spying? Do you know when vessels dock, they have to pay for all the Port Dues / Pilotages and a chance of vessels to buy provisions & services? Being narrow minded and also worried of others’ progression will only deter own’s progression. That is the karma we all believe.

Have they set up a military base in Sri Langka? Neither have Sri Langka join any military pack, unlike India had joined Aukus? What have India do when US supplied military arms to Pakistan years ago? They maybe more is concern for you.
What do you know about Sri Langka’ lost port? Was the port now fully owned or operated by China? China may have arranged the loans and build it but does not necessary that Sri Langka signed off the port to them. Isn’t now Sri Langka’s chance to have a new port facilities after the many years of no port renewal program? Now they can take bigger vessels and like the President said, even other military vessels also berth there.
With the new improved port facilities what is the issue when brought up of the concern when effort is trying to streamline a trade route between Myanmar & the strategic port of Sri Langka? Isn’t this will also help war torn Myanmar to export and also bringing business to Sri Langka?
There are also other new developments (but not military) in Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan, Nepal & Bhutan. But it does not mean these countries are enemy of India. Just like the President said, he maintained a cordial relationship with Modi. Of course, he needs to be nice to Modi & Xi, so that his country will benefit from both ends. It is the same like how Modi played both sides between Biden & Putin as to reap the goodwill.
Conclusively, if you do not progress, you can’t stop others from improving. Look at EU, how closely they worked together to bring up their neighbours.
Thus, that is what I meant that India cannot be so ‘narrow minded’ & even envy / selfish of it’s neighbours’ and try to deter them from it. The world’National Security’ is commonly used but can’t hold water. Suggest you read more of the developments (not only politics) and give it a a deeper thought.
