- Arteriovenous malformations or fistulas, since they are high-flow lesions, develop sharp angles and turns in feeding arteries. This poses challenge in catheterization and access to the embolization target spot. For instance, to access the target spot for embolization, microwire and microcatheter should take a very tortuous pathway.
Particularly a sharp 180⁰ turn posed challenge in catheterization. Trying different microwires and microcatheters, they tended to drop into the straight vessel rather than following the intended path.
As a solution, a balloon microcatheter was advanced into the straight vessel and by inflating a balloon it obstructed the straight vessel to make microwire bouncing back and taking the very sharp turn. Watch how…
Remember to deflate the balloon. Also, heparinize before inflating the balloon to avoid distal embolization and record the time balloon remains inflated.

@@DrYesh1 Thank you. You'd only need it for few seconds to assist passage of your microwire. You can then deflate it.
This is such a neat idea! Are both of those wires inserted through the same vessel? what are the diameters of those microwaves that it is able to pass through that catheter?
Thanks for the comment. You can put a transform balloon catheter next to another microcatheter like SL10 in a 0.071 guide catheter such as Benchmark. Both catheter will be in one vessel.
