Oliver Ackermann dissects an addictive A Place to Bury Strangers classic with a brand-new mix. “Keep Slipping Away 2022” dissolves the Exploding Head single with industrial-strength acid to graft new flesh onto the bones. It gets messy.
Previously a UK-only release, “Keep Slipping Away 2022” arrives on streaming platforms like so many of us do in these endless and uncertain times: chaotic and a little unhinged.
A pack of wild synthesizers nips at the heels of the riff in the 2022 redux, laying a leaner and meaner soundscape for Ackermann’s vocal to lead the song into undiscovered-and unconventional-territory.
Ackermann unleashes the wicked mad scientist production heard on recent APTBS music to great effect here, eviscerating the original song with a danceable industrial barrage of unidentifiable musical objects.
