Hi Leonie! Have you ever considered doing science communication vids? I mean, connecting your studies of bioneurology with your media skills to try to make bioscience topics digestible for the general public.
This is incredibly relatable. I just finished an internship and until the end I was always so scared of doing things wrong but my supervisor was so nice and positive about all my ideas
I love love love watching these kinds of vlogs where people essentially just study or do a research project or thesis, because it motivates me to get working too. Also, I know this is random but girl, you are so freaking gorgeous without even trying! You just look so pretty and you have such a fun personality, I'm like head over heels for you!
it takes me like a week just to force myself to sit and start working on my dissertation, it baffles me how you just sit and work like it's the easiest thing :O
I experienced this too when I was working on mine! What helped me was trying not to think of it as 'working on my dissertation' but planning concrete manageable tasks and making outlines - which Leonie also did in this video. It's much easier to sit down when I have a task like 'write a section (3-4 paragraphs) on what happens as an impulse is transmitted through a synapse' or 'describe 3 examples of Thing X' rather than 'work on literature review'.
@@wandguardnoodle this is exactly what I do! Instead of having this big task ‘write something for your dissertation today’ I sit down and figure out which steps are involved and then I break those up in the tiniest most manageable pieces. Something that might just take me 10-30minutes to do. Doing it like that makes me feel better than forcing me to sit there and do something for 5 hours straight.
1. I'm so glad you got a stand for your laptop! 2. I started my first 'adult' job in the middle of the pandemic and been working from home for several months now. I find really helpful to go for a walk after I finish work. It does a few things: helps separate work time and relaxation time (i.e. clears my head cache of work stuff lol), helps rest the eyes after looking at screen for several hours, and all the general good things that walking does (e.g. a bit of endorphins, movement, sun if available lol). 3. Don't feel bad if you have an "off" day, when you're not very productive. If you were at the lab/office, you'd do things like help your colleagues, brainstorm with them, do lab maintenance stuff, etc. Working from home there are none of those other things to do (in those cases I usually just go tidy my apartment or meal prep lol). I also find that doing a scientific brain-work intensive task often just requires to mull on it a while, like, have it in the back of your mind while you do other stuff. Thinking is literally part of the job, even if you don't have much to show for it in the moment.
Hey, as a neuroscience student I don't know how much you focus on the psychological aspect (since it's more biology oriented) in your studies. As a psychology student myself who is doing research on the links between depression and eating disorders it's good to know that different forms of depression develop because of different reasons, so maybe it would be interesting to look at data from a specific subset of mood diagnoses. Also something interesting I learned is that the way you think about stress can really affect the way your body (and mind if we're talking about depression) reacts to it. We see the same thing in cancer patients, where their mindset actually has a significant effect on their outcome. Again, I don't know what you already know and how much you've learned about psychology with the subject you study, so you probably know all this already, but if not, it's at least something interesting to think about.

Congrats on getting an internship, that’s amazing! I love studytube so I’m super excited for your future internship vlogs 😍 In case it helps: I had a statistics lecturer called Andy Field and he has a really amazing statistics book explaining everything really well and he also has a RUclips channel where he uploads lectures and explanations on how to do the stats so maybe check that out cause he’s great (I’m doing psychology but I think the stats should be the same for neuroscience)
Hey would you consider doing a video on the structure and details of a neuroscience uni degree? I am considering starting one but i dont know anyone who studies that (in Europe) so i have no idea what the reality is like :)
Congratulations on the internship! I hope you will actually do some work! In my first two intership I basically wasted my time. I still managed to study for my exams during the time wasted there, but UGH. Ugghhh, i HATED statistics. Both in my bachelor degree and in my masters (Psychometrics in that case.) So hard for my little brain t.t I much prefer other psychological stuff. The research sounds interesting though! (Well, everything that makes us understand stuff is interesting, tbh HAHAHA)

I wrote my bachelor thesis from home and already hated that. I need that phyisikal border in order to separate work from free time, otherwise I just stress out. Hate it.
Both in my bachelor degree and in my masters (Psychometrics in that case.)
So hard for my little brain t.t I much prefer other psychological stuff.
The research sounds interesting though! (Well, everything that makes us understand stuff is interesting, tbh HAHAHA)
I really liked your choice of music to accompany the video. The music gave the video a good pace and happy feeling...... Steve.........commenting ftom 5000 miles and 6 Time Zones away!
