@Tamscends I'm a junior in high school and am interested in doing a neuroscience major. I was wondering if research is a good option after a neuroscience major? I'm told that stable research jobs take a lot of time (7-10 years!). What is your opinion? Thanks!

Hey Tammy...Im also looking for taking Neuro science but I would like to know whether u would get time to do part-time jobs...cause' of course you'll have a lot to study.. so will you get some time off??
Hi Julia! Personally, yes! During the time that I studied I had a work study job. I recognize that it might be difficult to if there are other factors in one’s life (e.g., family conflicts, mental illness). Nonetheless I encourage you to do so if you can. What’s most important is that you enjoy the process of learning :)
Hi Roselle! I appreciate your comment :) Neuroscience, in my opinion, is important to learn because it is a combination of various disciplines (e.g. biology, chemistry, physics, cognitive science, psychology, sociology, etc.). I love neuroscience because it can 1) break down why we might behave certain ways in familiar or unfamiliar situations 2) allow us to learn how to emotionally regulate and deal with conflict 3) explore the potential therapeutics to treat various diseases. While this answer is incomplete, I hope this helps!
heyyy great video!! i was wondering if you applied for college as a neuroscientist right after high school or if u did something else in college and then majored in neuroscience
Thanks Laura! I applied to a liberal arts college because I didn't know what I wanted in life. I was interested in biochemistry, philosophy, psychology, and all the great stuff. That being said, I thought why not combine it altogether and major in Neuroscience? I hope this helps!
Hey could u say how much minimum salary we will get after ms in neuroscience n job offers all ..... my parents suggest to opt for something else but I am inquisitive abt brain research n all so pls help also best universities too
Hello! It really depends on many factors such as how much society values the science you do as well as where you live. For instance, if you graduate and work as a postbacc with the NIH you earn around 31k a year, whereas if you worked as a research assistant in NYC you earn around 40k. Something else to keep in mind of is the taxes in the state you live in and work in. I hope this helps! Let me know if I can help out in any other way.

Hi Ishu! I believe Clinical Neuroscience would involve getting a PhD (doctoral degree), not a MD or DO (medical degree), unless you are interested in treating patients. Are you interested in potentially prescribing medicine to treat illness, discovering meaningful data (e.g. translational research), or both?
