I went on that road last month for Pune to Nagpur's journey, and it feels you are outside India for those 5 hrs.
On our return leg, we left Ngp at 10 am, reached Shirdi, did Darshan, and then came back to Pune at 10 pm.
To do all that in 12 hrs would have been unimaginable without the samruddhi highway.

Have covered the road up and down. My advice would be : try to avoid driving the full stretch at one go alone.. keep the driver engaged and also keep a good long list of peppy music ready. I did my second run after sunset and after around 2 hours of straight drive, it sort of gave me a hallucination effect. It's hard to understand it by just reading a comment (I know) but just take it as an advice. This road is different, because its so monotonous.. specially at night. So just take some breaks, have good company n drive safe 😊😊

Whatta experience it was! Earlier when I used to take the old highway via Jalna it was a struggle to reach Nagpur and exhausting due to a single lane road. But now due to Samruddhi Mahamarg, it's a cake walk to drive from Shridi to Nagpur.
This road is going to be a game changer for Maharashtra and the whole country.
The total cost of toll is around 650 rupees and comes down to standard rate of 1.70.rupees per kilometre.
Hence there is not much crowd on the road as old highway is still toll free for cars.
    Drive safe!

I've travelled on Samruddhi Mahamarg recently, towards and from Mumbai, and I must appreciate the infrastructure. The road is smooth. I love the idea of only two toll plazas, one at the entry and one at the exit. I hope they open more petrol pumps and eateries or refreshments soon. Also, if we can have CNG stations on the way as well. Even if you drive at anything between 80-100, you'd reach your destination on time and easily. I enjoyed it and can't wait for the remaining section to be open. We need more such highways that can connect two prominent cities and make driving quick, easy and safe.

A few years back I did a road trip in the US, and only on the first day I was happy with the highways but rest of the time it is highly boring and depressing and exhausting and just as unsafe because drivers fall asleep.

I being a resident and born Mumbaiker, feel the Local, State and National Government should equally look to improve the current highways much better then the ones in present condition. Create better roads, have more bridges and even create By-Passes from high density towns, cities and villages.
No doubt the Express Ways will have a sure shot advantage, but the drivers on these other roads will equally curse the same government for ignoring some basic amenities.

@@ghettoboi27 Diesels have been unnecessarily demonized because of Nox, sulphur and carbon soot emissions from older (earlier than EU 4) engines. But in reality since they burn less fuel they produce less CO2 and the latest DPF technology has brought other harmful tailpipe emissions on par with petrol.
Thus especially on highways diesel is a cleaner fuel compared to petrol

I just done Goa tour on my Ertiga 2018 diesel and took Samruddhi expressway from Nagpur to Shirdi and in return from Goa again took expressway from Shirdi to Nagpur. I just drove in between 100-120 kmph and reached shirdi in just 6:30 hrs including dinner and tea breaks. Got mileage of approx 20kmpl. Just one thing is that here on expressway there comes monkeys and dogs in between while driving so be careful and drive under limits so that we will be able to control our vehicle in emergency situations. Also distance between fuel pumps is too much.

My car gives me the best mileage at 80 on 5th gear, going over 100 will tank my fuel economy. I seriously doubt driving 120 speeds will lead to fuel saving. Plus I'm sure they have speed cameras in many places. It's better to cruise along at 80 especially if you have an automatic ADAS enabled car. Maybe an hour extra but you'll make up more in fuel than the toll you pay for this road!

Good Comparison. The difference is huge. But I feel the cost saving number would have been much higher if the cars used in the comparo were not Q7s but may be sedan from C-Segment or any car which is own by a common man. Any way we can see the world of a difference in both the routes.
