Forgot to mention: Mineshaft has +6 objects so you know the interior when scanning if there’s a higher than normal object count!
Ooooh. I knew the scan numbers were wrong but multiplying it by a certain amount is cool! I never knew about this, thank you for this knowledge bread!
little tip for finding keys when full clear.
if you're full clear, you can kill one of ur teammates and place them outside of ship. If the scan value says 5, there's no keys inside but if it shows more than 5, then there is a key inside.
The reason this works is key's value only shows when there's items inside, and since player bodies are always 5 credits on scan, you're able to identify keys
Killing teammates. For the company.
what a sigma
this guy knows a lot of tech surely he plays lethal company a lot!
"The Company _really_ need to invest into some better equipment!"
Scrap and loot brother!
I love fat loot I don't care if its scrap or minerals I just want the loot
0:50 As far as I can tell, the reason for the discrepancy in values between host and client is because clients only receive scrap values 11 seconds after the day started, which is used in the calculation of the "approximate" value. In theory this means that the host should be able to get a less "random" number more representative of the actual value. After 11 seconds host and client scans should say the same thing.

got him dying too

maybe should've mentioned that the scrap count can actually help you to guess the interior before going in, it's a useful trick to know
yeah the whole reason i watched the video was to learn the trick for telling interior/lights off from the scan, im not sure why that wasnt in this video, pretty much everything else was common knowledge i think
@@stuntfumbler mines add 6 objects to the normal amount, lights are off on min roll, appi can tell you facility from manor, but not that reliable if you didnt get min manor or max fac
@@danielva9309 is min roll the ONLY time lights are off, or just a guarantee that theyll be off?
@@danielva9309 lights are off on a minimum roll? do you have a source for that? I tried looking through the game's code (namely, RoundManager methods SpawnScrapInLevel and SetPowerOffAtStart, but I also checked methods that are invoked from LoadNewLevelWait), and I can't find anything relating the amount of scrap spawned and the power's state; I could only find a random chance for power to be off which is based off the map seed (see RoundManager::SetPowerOffAtStart). Unless, by "min roll" you mean something else other than "the number of spawned scrap items is the absolute minimum for the level" or I've otherwise misunderstood what you mean. In that case, don't mind me.
My two guesses are either I missed something (I'd be surprised because that'd probably mean some crazy spaghetti), or the seed used to generate the number of scrap objects just so happens to correlate with the seed used to determine if the breaker should be off. Random::Next apparently uses the same mechanism as Random::NextDouble, so it's not exactly far-fetched.
Well shit, now I'm hungry; all this talk of spaghetti and rolls...
I wish zeekers would make it so the eaten scrap drops if you kill maneater

Neat.
Thanks for the explanation, I've always wondered exactly how it works but could never find a definitive answer

oh my god THAT'S why joining public lobbies would show insane numbers of scrap outside

This was very helpful, i might start using that scan number to know how much is on the moon now

yoo nice video! ! P
ersonally i found 0.44 as a multiplier for host but ig it's almost the same. Also it's kinda funny to scan for bees to go inside and to find a nut lmaoo. So i think u just forgot the nut scan at the beginning, also sometimes, but it's pretty rare, i got scans going from like 18 to 17, i think that's either because of no app spawn, or if an item don't have any spawn location left.
FOR THE COMPANY O7
Thank you for the Baboon Hawk jumpscare
maybe bees spawn later because they count as an enemy and spawn with the first outside spawn cycle
@@aaaaaaaaaaa921 correct
See bread is a scanner. Bread dripto is next
Thanks bread!
Zeekers pls make scan better tq
I wonder what the fuck happened in the code for this to happen. Especially the client/host values being different. Zeekers truly works in mysterious ways.
4:51 😂
i love you
omg its berd
When I do a scan the ship it is just weird. it says that there is like 900 still in the facility, but when I launch it is totally different.
If you watched the video, you would know why.
Hi bread could you do a tutorial on looting really deep for example artifice, the maze is so big I end up going to far or getting lost. How should I loot really deep? When should I turn back? How do I fully clear? On smaller maps it’s fine but with bigger maps it’s impossible
@@kinator9 check out my looting guide and high quota guide! They both have tips for this.
The scan value is that wrong??
The company just be scamming that much from us😡
Hi Bread! Does the multiplier still apply if you only have a few items outside, like 1 or 2? Also are there mods that make the total value accurate?
@@jayteejay10 there is a mod called “detailed scan” which is really good for casual gameplay. And yes the rule still applied but it’s a bit less accurate yet still a good estimate. Note: this isn’t allowed in official HQ runs.
I did some testing on v68 on a clean profile with only Imperium installed for ease of replication, and it seems that Maneater eating the item registers properly? Flashbangs, Gifts and Eggs all behave like you've described though. Maybe this was patched at some point?
do you think scanning has to do anything with the min/max roll for the item? i know single-item 🎁 day has a pretty low scan value
is it possible to tell if its a lights off day from the scan? ive seen bread call it out on stream after scanning and actually be right, but i dunno if he was just trolling and got lucky. lol.
Yeah
At least on Artifice, if there’s 26 objects (min roll), then the lights will be off
what about if the egg explodes on the ship?
@@Stephen667 it’s on the ship so it gets taken off the object count
Giga tutorial
Scan has been busted for me for at least 6 months. Every game I play in shows at least 110 items with an estimate value over 50'000, which is obviously wrong. As someone who doesn't run mods I've no idea why it does this but if anyone knows how to fix I'm all ears!
@@sireyck I mention this in the video toward the end!
@@call_me_bread Well that's embarrassing. I watched the whole video, I swear. I just didn't attribute my problem to the not-picking-up-items-on-the-ship problem that you described at the end of the video :p
@ for some reason the game doesn’t count items once you leave the save which is really annoying. But the mod fixes it.
just a trivial question, does the knife pop in the counter after butler pulls it out of his pocket? like it does it not show since it is not holding it?
no because thats not the actual knife, its part of the entity - so when he explodes, a scrap (the knife) is spawned where he died
What happens if you fall in a hole indoors? Or off a cliff outside on rend? I'm guessing it keeps the objects in scan
@@lliddle7616 correct. Keeps them on scan
so if the maneater was too eat an item and then hit puberty the item would still be on the count right or would it then be deleted?
@@Neo-t7o changing form doesn’t matter, once it easts the item that item is gone but will still count as an object on scan.
when a mimic gets you, does it still count that item to the terminal or no, because when you get caught by the mimic all items you have dissapears.
@FredasKolkas similar to giant and worm
How did you stay alive even after the giant ate you?? idk how to do that in imperium (solo)
you can prevent ship leave and use the object explorer to revive yourself after you die
If you fall in a whole on facility or mines, does your scrap and body get counted towards the total or is it removed?
havent tested it but i would very much imagine it gets counted toward the total, considering those bodies dont despawn and remain on the map at the bottom of the pit.
@@RazzleRyan counts
I guess the real knowledge is in the comments
What happens if you’re killed by a mimic or put on a mask?
being killed by a mimic makes no difference in the object count, as the mask that appears on a mimic players face is visual and not an object. as for putting the mask on, i also wonder if it deducts from the scan.
@@stuntfumbler I think they're asking about the body of the dead player
@@6Alexis8 yeah i havent tested that but i would assume the player body is not added to the scan when the player is converted to a mimic as their body doesnt exist on the map and cant be collected or teleported, but thats just my guess. i genuinely am curious what happens to the scan when a player puts a mask on now though.
ayaya
do u know how the scrap value is calculated for the fake scan?
Since I was curious I've looked at the decompiled version of the game just now and apparently the approx. value is a scrambled mess that literally uses random values and the index of the item in the list of items as parts of the calculation.
The exact formula seems to be that every item adds to the total approx. value a random number between its minimum possible value and its maximum possible value. This number is clamped between its rolled value minus its index in the item list multiplied by six and its rolled value plus its index in the item list multiplied by nine, "clamped" meaning that if it's outside of that range, it will instead choose the upper / lower bound depending on if it's smaller / larger.
I'm not sure why exactly is the clamp check in place since theoretically it should never go outside of that bound, but my guess is that this accounts for Single Item Days where items can roll more / less then their max / min values.
EDIT: The clamp check does what it does, I'm just not getting enough sleep recently. Since it checks against rolled value it will actually in theory work on non SID seeds too, as long as the index isn't too big. For example, a 98 roll cashie with index 1 will be clamped between 94 and 107, which is smaller than the range of values it rolls between the min and max (80 to 160). The same cashie with a higher index will basically just default to (min, max) range though, especially since it seems that items that are not scanned still are present in the array it takes indexes from, they are just skipped.
The 1 dislike is zeekers cause he no like when people understand the game
@@zobiah1 lmao
based
Scanning explanation hits different 💀💀
How can you tell what interior is based on scan?
different interiors have different amounts of items, facilities having the least and mineshafts having the most. for example if you are on titan and get like 26 items, it has to be a mineshaft cause of how many items there are
Mineshaft always spawns 6 extra objects. If you have the min and max scrap spawns for each moon memorized you can differentiate whether there are 6 extra items or not, and by proxy, tell if it's a mineshaft. However there is no difference between factory and manor so you won't be able to tell which of them it is based on a scan.
it doesn't
Step 1:
Scan
Step 2:
Profit.
I wont comment for the algorithm.
