I can't even explain how much this band shaped my life. From carrying instruments into their shows in the DMV till being put on their guest list after I became a sailor growing up in DC and being friends with these dudes was my everything. I will never forget the imprint these guys laid upon me.
@@jeff7764 I’d say “nickel bridge” probably. It’s definitely relatable to exactly what I have going on right now with this break up from abusive husband.
Thanks for posting this, so many great memories watching this band live..... I kinda remember a dude that didn't sing or play an instrument just dancing around on the stage......definitely part of the band, but a hype man....great stuff
They were an AMAZING live act! Was fortunate enough to see them at TAANG! in San Diego in the mid to late '90's...the studio albums are amazing but when I saw them live, my jaw was on the floor! Definitely one of my fave bands ever!
I haven't listened to this album in over 15 years... its even more amazing than the day i got it.. never saw them live, had tickets to several shows, but skated to much, couldnt stop..
These guys have their own sound, really cant label it fairly. Great live and awesome down to earth guys, my sister introduced me to them when she was living in downtown Richmond
Saw them a few times around 94 95 ish. Wreck Room and Somber Reptile ATL. They were dirty and living out of a van on tour. I remember thinking 'this is fucking rock n roll'. Absolutely fucking killed it every time I saw them!
@@whys0srs holy shit, I was at the under the couch show! I even wrecked my car in the way there but that didn't stop me. That was the best show ever. Ever. Circle pit in front of a 6 inch high stage.
shane alexander much better than Eddie Vedder Edit: This is an album, for me at least, that every song hits. Every song is incredible and I'll always be saddened that Avail is such an unknown.
@@OGT4204 Since you can think of 8000 bands more deserving, than i will wait patiently for you to list all 8000 of em. Till then, shut the fuck up and play your nickelback albums on repeat and stay away from good music.
Best hc band of the 90's, especially in the melodic hc scene. They were cool, they had great songs, they kicked ass live and nobody sounded like them. "Dixie" and "Over the james" will always be their masterpieces imho. I'm only afraid that when they had their chance to get bigger and signed with fat wretch, their last 2 lp's weren't that good... I love tim barry's solo records but i miss them so much!
@@andylane3739 Hey man don't take it the wrong way, I wasn't try to be the grammar police. I'm not quite as old as you. Started going to shows in 1984. JFA was one of my favorites.

I love the 90s so much.
I'm biased, but I dont think music can ever be as good as it was then.
It really was a special time to be a teenager.
Sorry but from 77 as a 15 year old, but I still feel like I missed it by a year
Tell it to the people in the 60s or the 80s or 1700 and 1800s for that matter. 😆
Such an underrated album, each track is a blast

This band should be in the Rock Hall of Fame, but sadly amazing if not the best bands will never get the credit, instead we get Pearl Jam..
+shane alexander i can think of about 8000 bands that should be in the rock and roll hall of fame before these guys.
wow. Avail should not be discounted tho.

The Nite Owl ...Pensacola, Fla '95ish
Seen them several times at Nite Owl back in the day
@@jgreen1276 Me too, a few times.
Chandler AZ, early 90s. They had a hype man - Bobo. Wow, a quarter century can sure fly by.
Bobo was awesome. Saw them with AFI back in the day...got shut down by the fire marshal for too many people. Great times.
He guys not to Rain on the parade. His name is Beau Beau. They're from Richmond, VA.
Misspelled the name, remember ths guy. At the time, Avail was "new punk" to me. I'm from American Hardcore '81 era.

the latter
