Is there anything else that you can use without alcohol to clean them

We don't like the flavor of fondant. Can this be used on a frosted cake ?
Maybe a rolled buttercream which is stiff and similar to fondant maybe even modeling chocolate but probably not a standard frosting I mean if it crusts maybe but it might be messy instead of clean cut
