This is the first time ive seen and viewd your channel and its Bini, among all the reactors ive seen bout Bini i saw how genuine your comments are, i really appreciate your appreciation on their Journey. Good luck and will look forward on your reactions on Chapter two. Excited!
"Hello, Love Goodbye" is definitely worth checking out. It's the highest-grossing film in the Philippines. BINI girls look up to the lead actress, especially Jhoanna. The sequel to the movie is set to release in November this year. 🥰
I just have to say that I see the work you put into this. You made it an easy watch for us, too, so thank you! I love it! The part I most appreciate in the documentary was the segment showing how the girls supported Aiah - how they assured her that what she's feeling is valid and the understanding that she has no control over what she's going through. Maybe I'm just not exposed to enough documentaries but from the few I've seen, most are focused only on the struggles of the subject and never enough on how they are able to overcome mental health issues and what a "safe space" looks like. This docu seems to have captured that.
Although she was a late addition to the Star Hunt Academy, Aiah did participate in the trainings not just when they were only eight trainees left. It was earlier than that actually. There are other trainees that were eliminated during their training and evaluation period after she joined.
I would recommend Filipino movies especially those of Kathniel's which are most most of them a fan of especially Jhoanna. Try Barcelona: A love untold, The How's of Us, She's Dating the Gangster etc.
There was no show that was ran for the star hunt training. All those drama were hidden behind curtains, coz it was a secret project after all. And also the company at that time lost the rights to broadcast in free television. So everything was really a hush hush. Even the footage on Sheena receiving the bad news about her mom was a Zoom call recording. I guess what I'm saying is that this presentation is not 'apples to apples' comparison with Sixteen or Produce 101 which were heavily sponsored shows. On a hind sight, it must be the factor why there were some misunderstanding, bashing and lack of empathy from the masses for these girls early on.
the project was a secret one, they all went through hell and back and its not for drama because all of the statements of them weren't on the final cut of every episode of star hunt series. you can binge watch all of the episodes of star hunt. but the clip where they told sheena about her mom's passing was so sad end they should've kept it hidden.
Because you made a note on the video but just to clarify since Chapter 1 wasn't very specific about it: Aiah didn't come in when there was only 8 of them (there was about I think 11-12ish girls, off the top of my head), she joined very late compared to the others and is technically the last from the _official_ line up to join. There were actually one or two others after Aiah that joined but they didn't make the lineup. She still had to fight to stay in, that's why she was very discouraged at first about not being a dancer or a singer. Everyone who got eliminated had an advantage over her, but she persevered and made that final lineup. When they were down to 8 trainees, they knew how the coaches' ideals were a 7 or 5 member group (odd numbers are VERY ideal for choreo reasons), but the coaches knew they couldn't eliminate anymore when all 8 of them were finally exactly what they were looking for.
Star Hunt is not a reality show, there's no competition show. It's all a grand audition. ABS-CBN held Star Hunt Grand Audition to scout talents for all of its shows , for Big Brother, for their variety shows, for singing ang dancing shows. Part of that auditions to spot talents for this "secret project" to make pop groups

@@sgtjoe2008 but why, though? That's my question. They weren't "overweight" by any means before. It's not healthy to only eat bananas and eggs, especially when they are working out as much as they did. It's not necessary.
@@onceuponamelody it's just part of the training process, since they were partly trained by korean coaches/trainers they have to adjust to their method and that includes weekly weigh-ins, they have to maintain something like 43-48kgs regardless of age and height, and 61-68kg for male groups. if you go beyond their prescribed limits then they will ration your daily food through extreme dieting...yes they gone through tough trainings. a reason - asian music industry standards, i guess. but they're graduates now, it's really up to them now how to maintain their body types without loosing important nutrients and protein...minus the starving lol!
Please note that there are only 1percent of good Filipino movies on that channel. They’re mostly melodramas and juvenile rom coms. The great movies on the channel are movies from the 70s and early 80s. Oro Plata Mata is a good one that is about the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. I’ll check later what movies to recommend to you.
Regarding their Korean training, i personally didn't feel it was necessary to specifically bring in koreans. the cultural differences between filipino and korean is big, like that dieting thing for example, filipinos aren't as focused on that and as you mentioned, the girls were already fine weight wise. the diet among other things i felt it put unnecessary stress on the girls as they stated when they said it almost made them quit. Sheena said it made their choreo better but filipino dance crews have been consistently taking 1st place in group dance competitions globally. I think the management could've brought in top expert filipino dance trainers to help them and it would've been easier on everyone.
@@stuka80 yeah, I personally disagreed with it too. I think Direk Lauren was kind of obsessed with BTS and wanted them to have the same kind of training... I didn't get that part, but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt at the time, I guess.
@@onceuponamelody Sorry to butt in here but: Watching the "One Dream" series (the first iteration of the origins of Bini and BGYO) they went more in depth than "Born to Win" did. I had the impression that management brought in Korean trainers (for only 3 months, in rotation with different batches of Korean coaches for each month) in order to get first-hand experience with the Kpop formula because it *works*. It was basically a fast track to how Korea does their thing. Kpop is a giant industry now, spanning globally and fundamentally because of their coaches and their trainee system. I think it's only naturally to want to see their template up close and personal, and the Korean coaches weren't with them very long. That said. Culturally, as the Philippines and Korea are completely different, I assume since they invited them over, they had to adhere to all aspects of the SK training despite how unnecessary the diet portion of it was and is (since this is a current thing in Kpop and will probably never change over there). PS. Idk the man but Direk Lauren has been in the industry for a long time. He's handled and created some of the biggest names in filipino entertainment, including Sandara Park before she was in 2NE1. BTS is huge. To use them (and Blackpink) as a point of reference to Kpop regarding the growth of a genre (Ppop) that is only really in its _inception_ back home is a reasonable goal/comparison, I would say.
