On the 8th day after resting God Created Fela. There are no words to capture this performance at Berlin. Cross examination is one of my favorite numbers.Sewa the pretty Shapely Ghanaian girl with an alluring backside is one of the best dancers among the girls. Of course each of them put up a brilliant performance. And we must thank Bolanle Austen Peters for honoring them through her Kalakuta Queens Musical! 🎉🎉❤
Fele Kuti may have not lived long but he made the best of a short time upon earth. He understood his purpose and gave more than most people who live a long life would dare to challenge opposition through his individual voice and character of how he saw the court section by his people.
Every time I hear this recording the heart beat described in rhythm, energy, precision, and music reminds me of the Black hole that intimidates anything that passes by it. You think the beautiful females were awesome, you got to see the male version from the Boogie Down Bronx.
OMG Fela is killing me musically with his rythem, look at his garment, loving this dude. I pray that shango and Orisha will bless his soul, he was turely the Black President..RIP
I was there!!!!! Saw this live!!! OMG!!! Africa is the center of music. Fela is Father Africa. His main wife, 1st. wife was the last dancer. Met them both a few times they were my friends.
Fela to me was the greatest thing that ever happened to Africa. Like all great men he was not fully appreciated while alive. All the ills of society he sang about are still with us till date. Fela was a prophet sent to this world to warn & enlighting his people (Aficans). He succeeded in his mission (his human faults & all the brutality metted out on him not withstanding). I know Baba 70 will continue from where he stoped in the beyond. Ride on Baba MOB (13/3/2012)
Fela at Berlin Jazz Festival in 1978. This live set is still fresh! This was a full comprehensive show that was enjoyed at Afrika Shrine back in the day. Great drumming from the young Tony Allen. RIP to Fela and my good friend Kwesi Yope who MC'd this show!
This is the first one I loved and became familiar with fela kuti. He played this court and I must say, took me beyond anything I have ever seen during the epoch.

40 years on, Feĺa was an educational genius sent to the african populace, but the white man had done a job on most of our people, and we continue to die in abject penury for lack of education!. Not book education, but the misfortune of white mans religion. We can't seem to answer the simple question of, how or why can the Chinese and Japanese soar whilst not being Christians nor Muslims? The day we begin to answer that question we'll move forward! We dey follow follow still!!
There is just one word for this show: spectacular. Brilliant camera work - none of the constant quick cuts that ruin most concert vids. Oh, how I wish I could’ve been there!
It takes a brilliant man to make brilliant music and never, ever going out of season, never, ever leaving the heart of the universal. I don't think anyone in the history of any kind of music could ever pull this event off: Everybody dancing. A universal call at the era to resist mistreatment" of the world emergency-state: colonial/imperial malady!
Use RUclips with JBL speakers. You can’t go wrong. If you get it in your spirit, your blood will begin to feel the rhythm. And you walk will fall in beat as your feet reach the asphalt, or the sidewalk as you pass the the house where the community vocabulary is Afrobeat. Every time you begin to walk you will feel that afrobeat rhythm beating in your chest!
I like this ONE HELL of a lot better than the dumb and lame Ed Sheeran #1 song that is boring as hell to listen to. Tony Allen changed drummimg. These kids now don't do anything for anyone else and they IMPACT nobody with their NON-MUSIC. Someone bring back real musicianship and REAL talent.
Probably holding court. Black people have a long grievance list of issues that have never been address. So the pain and hurt is still there for many years without verdict or reparation, land, property, and shared wealth. But rather, after the slavery, thrown out into the ocean of a society, without a dime or treatment for those who suffered more. Therefore, the dance is a call for redress, reparation and treatment to those less fortunate. The heart of the dancers imagining the BIG PAY DAY!
I put him up there with the Bob Marley’s of the world . He superseded others with is multi talented musical knowledge. Greatest

He lived more in his 58 years than a man eho had lived for 116 years. Period

Great stuff - this song is rather slow but you never feel bored watching or listening - it crackles!
everybody is a performer on Fela's stage

This song is released on the Army Arrangement album but in a much different faster format.

Me too. Grew up thinking MC Hammer invented it.
The person who did it first is not necessarily the one who invented or popularized it. MC hammer may or may never have seen this video
@@ConcreteJungle95 As far as we know this is the first recorded version of someone doing the running man dance. It is not surprising it's an African.
