Man, you guys are lucky to have parents that are interested in playing video games literally for hours... They must've been born in the 80's, 'cause video game consoles in general didn't start getting mainstream 'til like, the Mid 90's. Going to a local arcade was more popular before then. My Boomer parents didn't really have video games or even anime growing up, besides Speed Racer. I was born in 1996, right when video game consoles and anime was starting to get mainstream in the Western World.
this game was just so damn cool - the cars, the decals, the varied challenges of the campaign, the amazingly evocative environments, the music (omg the music) - it was just the perfect hot wheels power fantasy
Seeing this game again finally, puts me at an odd yet comfortable peace. I've consistently had thoughts and memories of these levels ever since i was a kid. I would love to play this game one more time before my ps2 goes out. But luckily i took care of my 2nd gen so it should be a while

I don’t think I knew what I was doing, but I still have very vivid memories from when I was like 6 of playing this.

I speedran this with a friend one night many years ago and it took us 6 hours to beat the game and get every car. Man this game was fun.
