There are a lot of similar videos, but I've decided it's your honesty that has brought you the million subscribers. No BS, admit when you are unsure, uncomfortable, and what part of your game is weak. Some clubs can help, but many times it is us trying to make shots we know we can't make and truly shouldn't try that gets in our head and messes us up. Congrats on your channel. May it continue to grow!

Adding some lessons and finding the importance of shot distancing that I got from this channel Rick, my short game has been transformed. Don’t know if I’d put this club in the bag but a fair review as always compared to some that immediately look down on unfashionable clubs.

Hey Rick, great vid as always. Best tip I ever got about tight lie wedge shots was from former tour pro Dean Wilson. I always hit 60 and 56 with a square-ish face and had the same issues as you on tight lies. He told me to go up a club (56 instead of 60, 52 instead of 56 etc) and just open up the face a good amount. This gets the loft up AND helps activate the bounce. That allows you to be more aggressive at the ball since it's really hard to chunk it that way. This literally changed my game and it may help you too. Cheers!!

hi rick, i think that these innovations will change the game, a new generation of golfers will grow up with them, get used to all these shapes and models that we classify as weird. They will make in one way the game more acceseble and easyer in the high HCPs but even more of a challange once these new generation will hit the tour. Thanks for the video's , great job.

Historical perspective. Huge head wedges have been an on/off fad in golf for over 100 years. In the hickory era, giant niblicks were produced by numerous foundries. Most of those are collectables now and did not carry forward much beyond 1930. Most players found them heavy and unwieldly. It was the development of shorter face, broad sole wedges ( Hagen Iron Man, Wilson Sarazen R-90, Spalding Dynamiter, etc.) that altered short game/ recovery shot making for generations to come. As for this club... yeah, a fad as was the famed Alien wedge of infomercial fame.

G'day Rick ...Loving your videos since I found your beaut channel ...I'm a left hander who used to play as low as 5 in the late 1980's and mostly 6 to 10 over about 3 decades ..In 2000 or so I bought a set of King irons . Maybe a brand you're not familiar with but they are perimeter weighted and suited me pretty well at the time . I also had a Prosimmon 2 iron I retained from the previous set . I carried a Nicklaus N1 400 cc driver and a Nicklaus 3 metal and a 7 metal . In 2009 after nearly 40 years of golf I got a bit jaded and had a break ..That break lasted until about two months ago (April 2021) ..
I suddenly developed a huge passion again for the great game and in recent times have been looking to get my Australian handicap again ..I am still using the King and Nicklaus clubs and my playing partners are using the new style irons , hybrids and metals ..I've found I've been left behind . Despite that I want to make sure before I invest in new gear that I'm really keen to play reasonable golf again ..Videos like this are great because your reviews on really helpful clubs will help me decide what might help me catch up a bit quicker .
Last week I shot 86 on my home 5200 yard rural course with the first card I've returned in 12 years and that included a few approach shot shanks simply due to my hands too forward of the ball and now fixed .
Thanks for making my return to golf so enjoyable via you truly fun vids like this ..My aim is to see if I can get to at least 12 handicap again at some time. A few well chosen helpful clubs should help ...Cheers ..

I really Iike the concept behind the design, it makes perfect sense to me. Good to see that it performed well too. I never really understand reviewers who review clubs that perform well and then say " but I'm not sure I would have the confidence to put a club like that in my bag". Surely the fact that it performs better would give you the confidence you need, it's not about what others might think. I wouldn't care if it was green and had tassels if it lowered my score.

I first saw your Facebook vids about a year ago and from then subsided instantly but from that I’ve honestly came on so much from then. My chipping shots are awful from the fringe and edge of the green so I may Invest in the spade shaped wedge haha, but I currently use the 7 iron as I saw a video of you using it and it’s transformed my game. I’d rather land on the fringe for my tee shot then use my 7 iron as It’s a long putter as I say. But the vid you put up helped me massively when you said it works for some pros but not everyone. Keep up the fantastic work and thanks for the tips and tricks! 🙂

I have a club that’s a hybrid between a putter and a wedge. I find it really useful when I’m within 20 yards of the green. When I’m that close to the green, I can’t get enough backspin with my wedges to keep the ball from rolling off the green.

After 4 months of playing it, I can say with authority that this wedge is terrible in heavy or wet sand using a classic bunker swing. BUT - from Matt Fryer's youtube review showing him sort of struggling with bunker shots - his observations uncovered the secret for heavy/packed sand. Play every bunker shot like a plugged lie - the farther the required shot - the more aggressive the downward strike. If you have this wedge - do this! It worked and saved me from early-retiring this (otherwise great from VERY bad lies) wedge.

I do the same technique for tight lies with my lob wedge. If it's a 15-30 foot chip I do that. If it's any further I flattened the lob wedge and scoop under it for about 8 yards of carry and soft landing. Sometimes I'll take my driver out and just tap the ball and let it roll true. I have a club like this in my bag, its called the Lovatt wedge and its like the cutter but with a big, heavy solid head, and its 58 degrees. Its in the deep rough or buried lies where it really shines due to the shape of the face. I call it my 'get of jail club' and its really proven its worth many times....just cant take it out the bag until I improve enough not to banana it into the rough! Great vid Rick 😁👍

Come on people let's get Rick to 1 million subs because he tells us what clubs could be good for certain types of players and what isn't so good. You have helped me with your great tips and will come in handy because I just got a membership for my birthday today so I will be out on the course a lot. Thanks for being on RUclips.👍

From your tests, the club definitely has potential. I believe it would be worthwhile to try it more to get comfortable with it. Thanks for the review, I believe I’ll try that new cutter wedge.

I gotta give this guy credit. He’s like that baseball player that’s too good for AAA but not good enough for the show. Yet he found a way to be somewhat relevant. Well done chap

I am using face forward wedges, 52 and 56, (shaft comes down in the middle of the club face) which will do everything the Cutter wedge will do and do it better and more consistently.

Though I'm probably keeping my Tom Watson Adams wedges in the bag for life (lol maybe)...it seems a good tool in a pro's hands. However-it is always my opinion to play the club you're most comfortable with on a tight lie around the green. I putt from there too (or putt with a 5-iron if there's a distance to travel).

Well, Rick I watched the video and immediately sent away for the Cutter wedge. I have to say that when you review a product, I forget that you are a professional golfer so your shots are going to be on the mark regardless of the club you use. It’ll be interesting to see how the club works for a high handicap golfer like myself.

@@rbnhd1976 I find that the club works well. However, it takes a lot of getting used to. I am not at the point where I could trust it to give me good results consistently. BTW I broke my femur 8 weeks ago so I have been wheelchair bound. Hope to be on the golf course in August.

Hit these balls for the first time today and for the first round they felt great. I had been using the Srixon Z Star XV and the Bridgestone feels alot softer which I like. The sound is more to my preference and shooting 5 over helps too. Great ball so far and I thought felt better than the Pro V1's with the limited sample. Thanks for this review Rick.

Cutter wedge vs C3i? They seem to be trying to solve the same problem. I love my C3i, although I call it my “cheater wedge” out on the course. I’d love to see or hear a comparison, Rick. Love your channel! Very informative and by far the most entertaining golf channel.

Hey Rick, another awesome video, have you ever seen a Lovett Wedge, a friend of mine a few years ago introduced me to his "hybrid wedge" I found one almost brand new on eBay for about $50 and it is in my bag to this day. Keep up the informative vids, they are appreciated

    • @bobt5778
      @bobt5778 4 года назад +1

I have one! Bought it new waaaay back. The thing with the Lovett was that (according to them) you could setup square at address in the bunker and just swing away. Really, you still had to hit the sand first an inch behind the ball like any other bunker shot, but the weight of the head helped not quitting on the shot like many high handicappers do.

I think it actually looks cool tho. Granted I haven’t held it, that could change when I grip it and look down. Thanks Rick! I love how you show new clubs!

Thankyou for your golf club reviews ... by changeing what i have in the bag, i have been able to shave 15 strokes off my score. Largely based on your reviews. Items that i incorporated are kirkland wedge set, ks1 putter, square strike wedge, cutter 56 degree wedge and maxfli - straightfli golf balls. Every item made a positive differrence. While i do watch your other content ... the reviews were a big draw for me. Keep up what your doing. Bye the way, This is the only youtube Channel i have ever subscribed To. Good job.

Hi Rick, I use another "weird" wedge. The Ray Cook shot saver designed by Alien. Best club in the bag. I never get stuck in the sand, can spin the ball around the green with ease. Try it out if you haven't already.
