- I’ve been DYING to try this topper out for a long time so I was thrilled to meet Tiffany Young from Thin Hair Thick and have a chance to try this piece!
It’s a super unique cap construction and proprietary to Thin Hair Thick alone. The only topper of its kind, it has no clips! This makes it damage free and I was so surprised at how secure it was.
This is also the first quality synthetic piece that I’ve had and I’m impressed with how easy it styles with hot tools!
This was my first time trying the piece on and my initial reaction. I’ll be doing a full review in the future so stay tuned!

I’m a stylist and it’s shocking to me how hesitant a lot of my clients are to invest in a nice hair topper, especially when they are struggling so much emotionally with their hair loss it just seems like money well spent to feel confident again. I pay $1500 for Botox and filler in my face and it doesn’t even last a whole year, whereas A good hairpiece can last forever if you take care of it, right? But Then I have clients who’ll spend hundreds on one color appointment, so, different priorities I guess.
I agree! It’s always the first piece they get hung up on. Once they buy one, they’ll buy more! I think they’re just so hesitant they aren’t going to love it. Your Botox example was spot on 👌🏼
It’s the medium length and base size is standard for this brand.
I love the way you worked it into a very natural look for you. However, I'm not too crazy about that glaring pink bra strip. The manufacturer should have known it glares among all that dark hair whenever there's wind, movement, a toss, etc. One of our main concerns is slippage, too. The front looks nice, but they need to give the back some more thought.
I agree. I wish the strap was thinner and transparent. I love the genius concept of this piece but haven’t been able to make it work for me 😢

So happy to hear it Kimberly! This is a great piece 🙌🏼 I’ve had a bit of a harder time with it because my head is super flat in the back so I can’t get it to stay down. But if your head isn’t as flat as mine, it should work great! 🥰🥰
Why didn't they make the "bra strap" thing the same color as the "hair" / synthetic fibers to camouflage it? What do you think?

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! I have terrible traction alopecia from my topper. I also absolutely love the style and the color. It literally looks like my hair without all the baldness and the traction alopecia spots.

It's a beautiful topper and the color is excellent. It does have some warmth to it.
Tip to keep the back from riding up is to sew in those barber hair Velcro strips or even another wig grip band all around the back and/or using elastic thread, sew it along the back making sure to leave both sides long enough so that you attach them to the existing elastic band that holds down the front of the topper. Picture an elasticized ball cap or bonnet that has an elastic back that attaches to the front straps. So basically, you would have two elastic bands (the front and the back) but you sew the back band onto the front starting approximately at ear level. Hope I’m making this clear enough to understand.
I did sew on some of the barber velcro but I’ll have to play around to see if I can figure out what you’re explaining. Do you have one you did that to? Maybe you could email me a picture?? That would be soooo helpful 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@lacie.rodriguez I just re-watched your video and realized that the existing elastic on your topper is more towards the back, and probably why my explanation may not make sense. Most toppers come with clips, not combs, so what I do is: remove the two clips (or 3 on some brands - 1 directly in front & 2 on sides above eyebrows or temples) on the front sides and replace them with an elastic (black so as to camouflage with my dark brown/brunette hair. I suppose that white elastics (since my local Walmart only carries black or white - the kind used to sew elastic waistbands on shorts/skirts/cuffs/etc called Braided Elastic, which come in various widths. I prefer a thinner one 6mm x 2.7m or 1/4” x 3yrds. There may be thinner ones but this is what they had in stock) can be dyed with a little hair colour to match lighter shades. You will need to measure using the elastic, before cutting it, the circumference from the front of the topper sides (where the clips were/are) all the way around to the base of your head behind your ears. So basically, the front of the topper is going to be held down flat and in place with the tension of the elastic instead of clips. Just don’t make it too tight, and allow just enough to sew it onto the sides (about 1/4” or less) but snug enough to feel comfortable and secure. Actually there are videos about how to do this on wigs called “the elastic band method”, but instead of wigs you do it on the topper. Ok, so once the elastic band is sewn in the front, now you sew a second one at the back, but your topper already has the elastic sewn on the back from what I can see from this video. So I would just replace the side combs with the elastic band method ATTACHING that to the back one by sewing them together starting approximately where they would meet above the ears. You can keep the front comb if it makes you feel more secure but I know that it would bother me, plus the elastic band method does a very good job of keeping the front of the topper flush/flat to you head without it. Sometimes I just use “got2be glued” for more security. Again, lots of videos about that too. I don’t have any THT toppers, but I did buy a Milano Topper Grip (Amazon) which comes in 2 sizes for large or smaller toppers which you’re supposed to use with the clips (check out their videos) but I just used got2b glued on the grip ribbons to attach directly onto the topper. Basically, I want to minimize the need of having to wear too many elastic or wig grips to feel secure and not feel so hot during summer. Hope this makes more sense now 🙏 Think of those halo hair extensions....but on a topper. Halo wire/elastic seems too thin for me and I would worry that it would break at the worst possible time, plus my goal is to have a totally metal-free way of keeping hair on, especially when having Xrays/MRI’s/CT scans or even going through airport security (how embarrassing would that be!). Hope this helps someone, especially topper companies to come up with newer/better ways of helping women feel better about ourselves, it’s not about vanity it’s about having positive mental health ❤️

Thank you for this review. I have wondered about the stability of these pieces. It looks perfect on you. I love the color and style. I hate those bands, though. I have a weird shaped head too. Those heat friendly fibers look great initially, but break down really quick. Your bio hair as a buffer should help.
I’m still working with this one but I’m interested to see how long the fibers last.
I have tried making my own toppers with older wigs. I have been trying to figure out how to attach them to the wig grip. I wonder if you could use velcro instead of the clips or tape. Idk maybe it wouldn't lay flat enough
I definitely think it’s a possibility but tape sits flatter for sure ☺️
I can’t wait for next review on this on this piece. I ordered one but now I’m torn about it. The whole bra strap in the back and it slipping makes me very nervous. I loved the concept with no clips though.
I’m in the same boat! Still working with it but I’m determined to love it because the clipless concept is genius and it’s so comfortable 🙌🏼

Hey there! I’m working on an official review of it. It’s an incredible design it just doesn’t work for my flat head 😅 I haven’t been able to get it to stay down, it continues to ride up in the back and I don’t have enough bio hair to hide the bulk of it back there. I’m super sad because it’s so comfortable and I love the way the front looks. If you have a decent sized occipital bone I think it would work great! 🥰

Hi Maureen! If you're ok in a wig, I doubt a topper will be any worse! If anything, toppers are cooler because you have less of your head covered 👍🏼

I've looked at this Thin Hair Thick. 2 questions for you. 1st, couldn't you make any topper into this by removing the clips and putting in combs and using the grip. 2, Can you tell me where I could find the Halo Grip that I think I saw in one of your other videos

Thanks so much! It mostly feels like human hair but you need to be a little more careful when brushing because if it snags, it will stretch it and go curly. But for a synthetic option-it’s excellent quality!
Lacie, do you still like this two years later? I have only been wearing a small based topper with clips consistently, for about three weeks and I’m already seeing more hair loss on top my head. I’ve got to do something else!
If you have a decent occipital bone at the base of your skull that works as a ledge, this might be a great fit!
I Wonder if the light band is showing in blacklight? It should be in the same color as the hair or in a blacklight safe color✌🏻

Which felt more secure? Halo wire or this? I cant even wear headbands as they ride up so will probably not find the strap anything but an annoyance.
It’s definitely a preference. A halo wire is similar to a headband so it sounds like it may not be a true fit for you. 🙂

It is a little shiny. I sprayed some dry shampoo on it but it still looks a little shiny. I think I need to wash it and try again. I’m still having a hard time getting it to stay down in the back. But I think it has to do with the shape of my head 🤔
Lacie I can't afford a human hair topper, and finding a synthetic topper that is HD is almost impossible for the larger size of cap that I need ( need at least a 7x7 to get to healthy hair). I wanted to ask you how this Synthetic topper is holding out for you?
I haven’t worn it too much because it tends to ride up on me 😕 but I just found a new wig grip that I might try with it. My head is just so flat I haven’t been able to find a good solution to keep it in place. But the hair fibers are great!

looks great on you. I had one of these. I couldn't get it to stop riding up in the back. I could feel it going. up and was afraid that it would pop off. I ended up selling it (at a loss of course). good luck!
This has been my issue as well. My head is very flat and I think it makes this kind of topper harder to wear.

Most of them stay in place really well. This is a very unique design and doesn’t work as well for people with a flat head. But most toppers that just clip in work great 🙌🏼

Love the idea, but with that band going across the back, it's impossible to put the hair piece in a ponytail without the band showing!
You’re right-this piece isn’t an option for an updo really.

What do you think about the tape in toppers?
I use tape sometimes for a day but if it’s a semi-permanent install where you keep it on day and night, there can be some traction alopecia (damage to your bio hair).
It looks lovely on you. I would worry that the hairband wouldn't stay on. My hair is shiny and thin and hair bands just slip off. Also clips never stay in because it's fine on top.
The piece is super secure from the front but the band does tend to ride up in the back 😬

Still working on my full review but in a nutshell: I think my head is too flat for this design because it rides up on me. If you have a more pronounced occipital bone it should work great!
Did you ever do an official review? I was looking for it but didn't find it. Also, I read some of the comments and saw you were having trouble getting it not to ride up because your occipital bone isn't very big. Mine either. I've NEVER been able to wear anything that relies on that. So sad. Did you ever find a solution? I love the idea of this topper but that's a deal breaker for me I'm afraid. :(
I didn’t get around to it, sorry about that! I made a video on how I work around that. It’s towards the middle. ☺️ I hope it helps!

Think it’d be better with clips to hold it on instead of a headband as the band in the back with easily be seen if it was windy out.
I think if I had more bio hair it might cover it a little better.

I need to play with it more! I had some other pieces that took priority but I promise I’m still planning on doing a full review! The condenses version right now is that I can’t get it to stop riding up in the back. But I’m working on figuring it out because I love how comfortable it is!!

Beautiful topper. Wonder why they make the strap such a light color, tho. A darker strap wouldn't show as much if the hair parts in back.

This is the perfect shape and style I would love. I’m blonde but dye it brown to look thicker and this color would be perfect.
My hair loss I believe is from depression and menopause. I loss my son 7 years ago and the depression has change everything about me including hair loss. Now throw menopause on top of that. The cause of my hair loss is making my depression worsen.

The topper is beautiful. The Ash highlight is bad and does look gray. Why on earth would they use a white "bra strap" thing in the back? That will show every time you move or the wind blows.
Yeah I agree! They actually have fixed the strap in the back to be a darker color now 🙌🏼
Posting this for others who may be considering purchasing from this company. Beware! They do not honor their return policy. You will never get a refund if the product does not meet your expectations, does not match your hair color, etc. I have initiated a legal battle with this company to get a refund for a package that I shipped back to them. They are claiming it was lost in the mail, despite signature evidence proving otherwise.
Thank you for the warning. I was just about to order one, but if their returns are shady, I'm not going to take that chance.

The clips in toppers are brutal. I have bald spots from toppers. urgh
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. It does help to rotate the clips and only clip on certain ones if you’re going to be wearing the same topper every day. If you have multiple toppers then it helps to interchange those too since the placement of the clips is different. ☺️
