    Just wanted to pop in and say that I love all your videos and your style of teaching. It is so concise and easy to understand! I have recently started a RUclips channel, Quilted From The Roots, and it takes a lot more work than one thinks! So, I just wanted to say you are doing a great job and thank you. I for one really appreciate your time and videos!

    Thank you so much for this folding technique. I needed 400 + inches cut in 1 inch increments for bias stems and it worked beautifully. I love following your easy but detailed instructions.

    I did it twice. It works. Thanks.

    Maybe it's because I'm a lefty, I don't know, but I have watched dozens of videos about this technique, tried it - and then boom, it's a bust! I'm the one who wants to fold every which way but the right one. Your diver's anecdote saved the day! Genius. Thank you!

    Another excellent tutorial. Could you clarify please, would you continue to cut along the folded strip until the end, or, do you stop where the folded layers become fewer? Awaiting return of my vintage machines from my service chap. My other machines are awaiting me at my home in Spain. I am amusing myself at the moment, crocheting a fiendishly awkward pattern, learning many brilliant techniques from you Nancy through your very interesting tutorials. Much appreciated. Regards, Alison.

      Thanks Alison :) - I generally will continue to cut until the strips get too short - a bias stem that is only 5" long, generally isn't very useful, but you never know :)

    I've have watched so many RUclips demonstrations regarding cutting on the bias. This is the FIRST ONE that has made sense. Synchronized divers, may have sounded silly however it will remain with me for certain! One question, is the entire half yard utilized or when you get to the single folds is the remaining fabric destined for scraps? GREAT DEMO!!!!! Thank-you so much, I'm now subscribed to your channel!

      +Onalee Sutherland Thanks for watching the show. We're glad you like the technique. In answer to your question, the strips get shorter and shorter as you get to the end of the 1/2 Yard of fabric, but even a 5" long bias cut strip can be used to make stems. But for bias cut strips for bindings, I do know that I would want to piece such small pieces so you will have a few that are destined for the scrap pile smile emoticon

    Great technique. At 3:20 you say line up at the 45 degree mark of my ruler but it looks like a it is lined up on a regular perpendicular cutting line. What am I missing?

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  8 лет назад

      +otbanjo pat Thanks for the heads up and sorry for the confusion. I did notice that when I watched the show. You line up the ruler on the horizontal line of the ruler when making the cuts. Because of the fold, the cut is a 45 degree bias cut of the fabric. Thanks for watching.

      I understod most of this until the point where she makes the last fold. I need the overhead camera to show where both divers "hit the water. I'm guessing at where in the water each diver's body hit. It looks like one (her left hand) is closer to the cut edge by her body and the other (her right hand) further away somewhere. Sorry, I'm having a hard time here. But I DO like the syncronized diving idea. Guess my timing is off.

    I want to Know how to cut 20 meters fabric in bias

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  6 лет назад

      Hi Lakshmi - Nancy here :) - i have never tried - cutting one yard is the most i have done. doing the fold with 20 meters would be difficult and you wouldn't get strips that are any longer so i wouldn't recommend it. if you are wanting the long length to do a bias binding, you would still need to piece them - hope this helps - happy quilting!
