The thing that made Harris such a cool character was that he had this almost omniscient, matter-of-fact way about him. He always had a calm insight into something that would cause Sam, Neal, and Bill to flip out.

One of the greatest scenes in the series. Only real people can see it. I have hardly ever seen a show with realistic, and non-artificial characters. And seen those characters do what is in this scene. I love the moments where the freaks collide with the geeks, but I especially love this scene, which is heavy, and transcendent in a sort of subtle way. This is one of the most rarest, and positive moments in any series, that I find important. And is such a special scene. I love this scene. It teaches the audience, that you don't have to conform to only certain groups, and conform to authority and society. You can be yourself, and break boundaries, and connect with people from different cultures, and different groups, and cliques. An important part of life is not only interacting, and relating with people, but also with people who you won't believe you can share common ground with you. And that is a beautiful, and rare thing.

Millie comes across like the judgmental Christian girl, but you kinda realize as the show goes on that she genuinely believes what she believes (not just to lord it over people) and she's a ride-or-die. I love how this series started with a comedic take on the stereotypical characters that everyone knew in school, but every episode, these characters became more complex and realistic. By the last episodes, the show had become a unique comedy mixed with the drama of the developed characters, who were all played by great actors and actresses.

It's kinda like how Happy Days was early on -- you could see the Fonz was actually sort of a loser. They turned him into this superhero figure when he got really popular, but in the earliest episodes he was more of an insecure dropout still chasing high-school girls, going nowhere. I always liked the Fonz, but he was a more interesting character then, when he had more depth. Daniel's like that. He's cool, he's a good guy mostly, but he's also a mess who needs some help. Which he sometimes gets.

We learn that the tough guy has weaknesses and vulnerabilities and is insecure like everyone else. The on-the-surface-badass is really a nice guy who begrudgingly respects Harris for getting good grades and for his self-assuredness. The smart writing and rich characterizations - laced with nuanced comedy - is what sets this show apart.

I can believe I never gave this show a change when it came out and now I so wish I had the $$$ to produce another. This was to golden to let end so quickly. Yes, it was 25 years ago but it's just a flash to me. Please someone out there (Yeah, like they read stuff like this), bring it back.

I've always loved Daniel in this show. Yeah, he comes across as the stereotypical burn out sometimes, but he's got heart.

I think you fail to understand human beings as the writers of this show do. They are all emotional and intelligent people who feel they don't belong, and each of them has their own way of coping with it.

0:25 Why is it such an instinct, if someone asks what you're reading, to first glance at the cover, even though you know exactly what book you're holding.

They should reboot Freaks and Geeks with a new cast set in 1984 ( after the original cast has already graduated). It could be a series like American Horror Story where each season is a new cast/ story line. Of coarse it would have to be done by the original behind the scenes people that created the original. That is the only way you could reboot this show. Or even remake it set later and some of the original cast could be in it as older characters; imagine Neal or Bill as a teacher

I have heard plenty about this show, how good it is, but I haven't seen it yet, I will.... but it's amazing to me how a show such as this, showcasing the positive aspects of high school, how kids from different 'groups' can get along without bullying each other, lasted only one or two seasons ...? I guess it wasn't 'exciting enough' (read violent, backstabbing, dramatic, etc.) for TV audiences... all the sordid stuff sells... we need more positive things like this.... what this world has devolved into today in some aspects is so reprehensible... although there is still some good.... we have to focus on that I guess...

There was a LOT of bullying in the show, actually. It showed how each of them dealt with it.

At my highschool we had a couple of guys that were not typical D&D players. Two in my game were on the football team. One who was not in my game was a lot like Daniel. He was into Arduin which at the time I considered a bit hard core.

Daniel's pretty lucky if you ask me: he was only kept back _once,_ and he _can_ get good grades; he gets bad ones (and a repeated year) because of his laziness. I was kept back _twice._ I had a speech delay in preschool (I'm on the spectrum and have a learning disability), and from fall 2007 to winter 2011, I was homeschooled. I _regret_ making that decision; I could've been one year older than my class, if I had just known what would've happened to me. And that's the other thing: without my backstory, my being kept back twice is weird and something to consciously look at and label; it can't be normal _unless_ I provide context. Let me ask you guys something: is it *_that_* wrong to be two grades below; to graduate high school at age 20? Does it _have_ to define you?
