Ya it was one of the best things in the world. He was at a guitar clinic. and we were talking for hours and got to see him play. He is really down to earth kind of guy. he gave me a guitar pick that he was using and his "that was then this is now" album to me for free. I got his autograph and his pick hanging on my wall.
Usually live recordings don't sound like this. He must be really good if he can play all that in front of a live audience anytime he wants without making mistakes anywhere.
I'm so happy for him, it's a guitarist that I follow since 9 years now. Finally he's getting recognized throughout the world, one of the most expressive guitarist on the planet, no doubts about this. When he comes to Italy I follow him on every date in my region. Two times I've talked whit him, sweet person.
It's damn shame that this guy doesn't have more watches or likes than these pop artist these day. This guy is criminally underrated. The hardcore guitarists know him and he gets much respect from guys like Satch, Vai, and Johson, but the general public should know who this guy is. Many folks don't know this but he was Olivia Newton John's guitarist for many years.
Amazing playing. There are quite e few live and clinic versions of the song on RUclips, but this live version, which is the same as on the live album I think, and the studio album version are by far the best ones.
Yeah I believe this is the timmons live dvd, which should be orderable from his website, I own it, but I got it from a friend, great dvd with tons of footage off-stage as well.
Aside from stating the obvious like the awesomeness of the song or the sheer godliness of Andy and co., I have to point out how good the sounding here is. They sound "thick" and tight at the same time, a great trio setup!
@AVFC0711 Obviously not the people that listen to him, like you or me, but he's not as well known as other "mainstream" guitar players like Vai or Satriani, and he's just as good (or better...than Vai anyway). I bet he doesn't sell many reccords. Maybe underated is not the word. What I really wanna say is that the guy is a fuckin genious!!!!!!!! Pure talent, tone, melody, and emotion.
the licks at 2:15 are so amazing it sounds so alien-ish.. Do any guitarists here know what scale or mode he is using for that particular part?? Thanks in advance. =]
@Nindzo Yeah why is that? I'm baffled every time I hear guys like Timmons, Howe, Metheny, Govan, Gambale and old saxofonists like Coltrane or Parker that people still choose to "listen" to crap like lady gaga or britney spears. I really can't understand that, it;s not even music!!! You can tell me anything but my answer will always be complete and utter confusion. Andy Timmons understands what the late Bill Hicks cried out: "PLAY FROM THE FUCKING HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
@KrummyBear Well, that's just correcting for the sake of it. Instrumental is the word used to describe a rock guitar oriented band band that doesn't have singing on it. What is "not technically singing" mean anyway? THAT is redundand and inaccurate. He meakes his guitar realy thing, though obviously is not a human voice.... Some people really like to argue over nothing.... I bet you're the kind of person that watches crappy guitar videos so they can say "you suck".
Most underrated instrumental guitarrist in the whole world!!!!!!!!
I just love this guy's playing. Easily one of the best players on the scene.
Fuck. What the fuck is this wizardry? This guy is unbelievable. I love guys who can rock their shit live and hes one of the few who can. Wow
He’s so passed complete, that guitars holding him back. So much energy he’s trying to expel.

Satch proved years ago that you don't need vocals to make great rock music.
Now the baton is in Andy's hands.
This stuff is delicious.
This song makes me feel like i'm paradise. :')

lucky you he is in my top 5 behind gary moore
@SzakalPolska Sorry, but SRV isn't an "old strat master". I'd be thinking more along the lines of Buddy Guy and Hendrix.
@jhonsatriani they share the similar face ! from the same factory outlet thou..
Not faster but damn creative so I enjoy this best guitar master
+Erydiam Wintermoon Speed is nothing without musicality
And the crowd goes wild at 0:25

@esaintboy72 Cos people are to busy listening to Lady Gaga and similar nonsense to be enjoying quality music.
they make a performance with 3 people .... not from this world
