You are the only youtuber that tells people about the baskets max of 10 eggs and I thank you as I have wasted so much time trying to fill the basket by waiting 30 minutes before grabbing them
Something to add to this, if you've farmed a few herba mysticas, it's worth using 2 of them for egg power 3, and they won't go to waste since you don't have to save if none of the eggs are shiny. I get at least 3 boxes in 30 mins, which is a whole box more than level 2, add that can add up real quick since you'll have to do it many rounds most times. While I agree this is a good way to shiny hunt with eggs, I had a problem where the game kept crashing when I was trying to hatch the eggs. If one of those eggs was shiny, it's now lost forever. Be careful of crashes.
i know this is a very late comment but does having sparkling power have any effect when breeding for the eggs or hatching the eggs and does egg power have an effect when actually hatching the pokemon(i know it increases the amount of eggs you breed)
My shiny counter never increased after I hatched or evolved shiny Charmander. Charmander and its forms aren't in the current Pokedex, so they don't count as a shiny in your profile. Collecting eggs and checking your shiny count will not tell you that you've got a shiny pokemon. You're wasting time. Hatch your eggs and look at the mark next to their name to be 100% sure.
I wish I didn't have to autosave, but my game crashes all the time and I don't want to get ten eggs hatched and then go back to breeding eggs again because of a crash. I find it better to hatch five eggs, do five releases, then manual save. Egg power 2 still gets me 70 eggs in 30 minutes for a banana, butter and peanut butter. Those ingredients are dirt cheap.
That's all nice and stuff but as long as I'm still getting "An unexpected error occurred" crashes I'm leaving autosave on and keep my hands off of that option. I'm doing fine with my get 10 boxes -> hatch 5 mons at a time -> release 5 mons at a time -> rinse&repeat method
As someone who's had the software close "due to an error" like 5 times now with autosave off, losing progress because of it, I really don't recommend not saving after you obtain the eggs. Yes, it's nice not having to manually delete the breedjects and getting your ingredients back, but imagine one of the eggs had a shiny in it or you just hatched your shiny and then the software closes before you can save x_X
I agree, the crashes are a problem. BUT if its a bigger problme for you, then you can do a smaller amount of eggs, maybe 50? i had my game crash while releasing the eggs but not hatching yet
@@TheCaddington Yea I always buy an egg power 1 ice cream for 900 money which results in around 50 eggs, but I don't have the shiny charm yet so I just wondertrade the breedjects in hopes of getting stuff I need so I don't mind being stuck with them personally, haha!
Idk if this is still relevant to you but you have to restart all the way back to before you breed the eggs because the shininess of eggs are determined once they're made and not when they're hatched I think the same applies to stats as well but I'm not so sure on that
I wish I knew this before, 580 charcadets in and never found a shiny, I got tired of releasing them, and realized that they just weren't worth it due to only their eye color changing... I did find a wild shiny hoppip though while I was making my rounds with all of those eggs, and as annoyed as I was when I found it, I'm glad I still decided to catch it in the end 😂
I did the mesuda method, use flame body, and have the shiny charm. It's like a 1/500 chance. I've hatched at least 7 box's of froakie and having to release them is annoying
go for egg power 2. 10 eggs in 3 - 4 mins. Save SO much time! Make it by using cheese, marmalade and then butter sandwich. 6+ mins if you go egg power 1 btw.
here i am trying this method and my game crashes after 10 eggs.. this game is way too full of bugs to be trying this method. i lose more time recollecting eggs than i would spend releasing them because of my game crashing everytime
Man thank you for saying there could be max 10 pokemon in the basket, i was trying to get shiny froakie and i was wondering why i was getting so few eggs.
How do it all work is my question. I have two foreign dittos one from jpn and ita. I always use my jpn ditto but somehow by accident while I was already 180 eggs in for a shiny I used the ita ditto for a egg run. Did that screw my odds. Also do u have to get the shiny in one run and can’t close the game and put it away because it will start you all over. Is there a counter or something so confusing. Now because of all this I am over odds for this shiny currently 561 eggs in…..😢
and foreign ditto is good, changing the nationality doesnt matter. I count my eggs by myself, theres apps for it. You can close the game, but if you save and close the game you will have to release all the non shinys eggs and thats takes time, but you can. Just keep at it and youll get it, it seems you are doing it right. my Sprig took 1500 eggs even tho i was doing it with best odds. Sometimes luck isnt on your side
This method would be ideal if the game was stable. I've had the game crash while doing this on two separate occasions and lost about 6 boxes worth of eggs total that could've been shiny. Until they address these issues, you're better off saving frequently
Bro I’ve used the mesuda method with a foreign ditto and a greninja, I also have a shiny charm with increases the odds to a 1/400 something..I’ve filled up 11 boxes 0 shinys
i hatched all boxes to see if there was a shiny. sorry if that wasnt clear. However now with pokemon home i wouldnt suggest this method if you are a new shiny hunter or pokemon player. just use pokemon home to mass release
You want to know what I find funny the fact is that we get mass release in let's go P/E and legends arceus but there's no breeding but in other games that have breeding in the but have no mass release.
Oh my god I thought you could get say 120 eggs in the boxes save hatch if no shiny reset and go again I literally didn’t know when you pick up an egg it’s decided then if it’s shiny or not I’ve wasted so much time over 1000 hatches for shiny fuecoco 😂🤦
so once you have the pokemon you want to breed save, collect the eggs, then hatch. Then if you didnt get the shiny when hatching restart your game and repeat. Then breed for a new batch of eggs and repeat the process?
What I do, Is I go to the water gym town which has a restaurant that sells a dish which gives egg power V2, and after I hatch the five eggs I just release them immediately so I don't need to worry about having to release 200 Pokemon later
Sadly saving BEFORE starting a picnic does NOT reset the egg for shiny hunt. I tried the reset four times: each time I got different number of eggs, between 53 and 67. This means that i'v always filled two boxes and in every single reset i made not only i was not getting a single shiny, but i noticed that between the third and fourth column of egg, of the first filled box, i was always receiving a 6iv Pokemon, while other where 5 ivs. So i think that the reset thing is just not working, and i still cannot figure when the shiny egg is determined
@@GiuseppeMaiolico unless youre doing the method wrong they will be different charmanders every time. check natures and everything as well, if they are the same then youre doing it wrong
No, you have to save before breeding, breed - hatch - no shinys, then reset, and make a whole new batch of eggs. It saves you the money and time releasing each egg. Sadly not the breeding process, that is impossible
When I do not hatch a lot of eggs, I like to fill the box with pokemon on some collumns and let only the other collumns empty so that you can swap collumns of hatched poke with collumns of eggs quickly. It is not a huge gain of time and probably you will take full boxes of eggs so you will not need that.

People online keep saying the Pokémon egg is predetermined at the point of receiving it not hatching it. Is this still accurate?
it is predetermined at receiving it. This method was to save time releasing the pokemon and currently obsolete in the current version of the game
So it's better to have a ditto and one pokemon as opposed to having a ditto and 5 of the same pokemon of the same gender?
yes, you only need 2 pokemon to breed
i know this is a very late comment but does having sparkling power have any effect when breeding for the eggs or hatching the eggs and does egg power have an effect when actually hatching the pokemon(i know it increases the amount of eggs you breed)
Wow. I never thought about saving before i start egg hunting. Im kinda mad at myself
I got a full odds shiny froakie in 49 eggs
This seems like a really good method, but after some time I was only getting pokedolls from the basket? What does that mean?
Currently after every shiny eeveelution.. this sped up my hatching a ton!
I got a croc in like 30 eggs!! I love my evil little pink boy
i got a shiny slugma after 5 eggs. it really is random... i wasn't expecting to get a shiny.
People saying shiny counter increases by catching eggs is a lie. Hatch your eggs.
Thanks Cad this video is actually really helpful
The shiny is decide during the breeding or during the hatching ? I heard like what we cant reload à game because the shiny is "already in the egg" ..
its decided during bredding. thats why you save before you even open picnic
Could you just save with all the eggs and re-hatch them? Or is the shiny code already cast pre-hatch?
It's always been that way. Eggs are pre determined the moment u get one no amount of loading before they hatch after u get one will make em shiny
Didnt think about soft reseting eggs once i get them that is more convenient than making handfuls of sandwiches and what not
Watching this video already knowing everything simply on the off chance there’s something new that I don’t know. Shiny charmander doesn’t exist
I currently have 270 sprigatitos really wish I thought of the saving method before that 😅
That's all nice and stuff but as long as I'm still getting "An unexpected error occurred" crashes I'm leaving autosave on and keep my hands off of that option. I'm doing fine with my get 10 boxes -> hatch 5 mons at a time -> release 5 mons at a time -> rinse&repeat method
Wait, aren’t eggs determined to be shiny as soon as they’re obtained?
yes they are, this is why you save and go back to a point before you have your eggs
From which point do you need to restart? From when the eggs are in your boxes or breed them all over again?
Idk if this is still relevant to you but you have to restart all the way back to before you breed the eggs because the shininess of eggs are determined once they're made and not when they're hatched I think the same applies to stats as well but I'm not so sure on that
I’m trying to breed battle bond Greninja, but it doesn’t work
I wish I knew this before, 580 charcadets in and never found a shiny, I got tired of releasing them, and realized that they just weren't worth it due to only their eye color changing...
6+ mins if you go egg power 1 btw.
yessssss, egg power 2 is sooooo good, this was my early game save so i hadnt got it yet. I have it now tho
And the recipe to make one is really simple! I don't know if there's an egg power 3 though
here i am trying this method and my game crashes after 10 eggs.. this game is way too full of bugs to be trying this method. i lose more time recollecting eggs than i would spend releasing them because of my game crashing everytime
Man thank you for saying there could be max 10 pokemon in the basket, i was trying to get shiny froakie and i was wondering why i was getting so few eggs.
Dude literally same but I filled up 11 boxes with shiny charm and mesuda method 0 shinys
I didn't know you can multi-select with the minus button. I wonder why this wasn't in the tutorial? Weird.
ALOT of people dont know it, its strange it doesnt show you or hint to it, and this has been in every switch pokemon game
Gonna try this egg method. Got 1/512 odds, on egg 451. No shinies.
Now because of all this I am over odds for this shiny currently 561 eggs in…..😢
I also gave some eggs to friend in union circle. Did that also screw my odds ?
and foreign ditto is good, changing the nationality doesnt matter.
@@sorrynotsorry3 no, youre fine
The Issue is while breeding i mostly find 1 or 2 overworld Shinys so i cant just restart 😂
yeah this is the biggest downside, i hatch in a place where i have most of the shinys so i dont mind
I'd recommend running around Casacarrafa, it's got a nice town square
I mean ill never turn down a shiny, ill rather have to release a few hundred pokemon
Wouldn't it be easier to skip the breeding proccess the second time by saving before hatching the eggs?
shiny is determined at the breeding stage, so youd be hatching the same eggs
This method would be ideal if the game was stable. I've had the game crash while doing this on two separate occasions and lost about 6 boxes worth of eggs total that could've been shiny. Until they address these issues, you're better off saving frequently
too true, i only do this is the most stable areas
Bro I’ve used the mesuda method with a foreign ditto and a greninja, I also have a shiny charm with increases the odds to a 1/400 something..I’ve filled up 11 boxes 0 shinys
11 boxes is only 330 my dude, youre still under odds
I don’t understand why you fill up 3 boxes of eggs if your just going to soft reset after hatching the party of 5?
i hatched all boxes to see if there was a shiny. sorry if that wasnt clear. However now with pokemon home i wouldnt suggest this method if you are a new shiny hunter or pokemon player. just use pokemon home to mass release
Thanks bud. You have saved me so much time
so, let’s say i save with eggs in my party that i’m going to hatch, can i hatch those then reset to re hatch those eggs and it will count ? or no.
with the random crashes i got i never turn auto save off also in the electric gym town theres an icecream place with egg power
I've been breeding comp pokemon / shinies since XY and never thought of this
ive bred so much in sw/sh and didnt think of it either
Oh I didnt think of that to save before hatching the eggs. It can really save some time from releasing those non shiny mons. Thank you!!
Wow this will save a lot of time from releasing!
It actually takes 5 mins to release a 2 batches
Restarting ? If u restart and hatch again this are the same pokemon as before?
You want to know what I find funny the fact is that we get mass release in let's go P/E and legends arceus but there's no breeding but in other games that have breeding in the but have no mass release.
I don’t need mass release, I did a lot of wondertrades hand hope I made some people happy.
Is the seed the same after closing the game without saving? Or would the eggs we get be completely different?
If the eggs were given to you they are already preset
Oh my god I thought you could get say 120 eggs in the boxes save hatch if no shiny reset and go again I literally didn’t know when you pick up an egg it’s decided then if it’s shiny or not I’ve wasted so much time over 1000 hatches for shiny fuecoco 😂🤦
Thanks for the video man, actually learnt some stuff.
So for this game it doesn’t remember what pokemon are in the egg? I thought soft reseting doesn’t work(at least for previous games)
If you have no Flame Bodymon use a Steam Enginemon. Works aswell :D
this is very true, coalossal is a good example
at the start menu, why does yours have a book and a pokeball where mine does not
so once you have the pokemon you want to breed save, collect the eggs, then hatch. Then if you didnt get the shiny when hatching restart your game and repeat. Then breed for a new batch of eggs and repeat the process?
bang on mate
@@TheCaddington alright thanks
Does quitting the game reset the Pokémon odds of all the hatched eggs?
Froakie shiny is so hard, i almost giving up. =/ Ty for the tips
What I do, Is I go to the water gym town which has a restaurant that sells a dish which gives egg power V2, and after I hatch the five eggs I just release them immediately so I don't need to worry about having to release 200 Pokemon later
has it worked for you?
Sadly saving BEFORE starting a picnic does NOT reset the egg for shiny hunt.
I tried the reset four times: each time I got different number of eggs, between 53 and 67.
This means that i'v always filled two boxes and in every single reset i made not only i was not getting a single shiny, but i noticed that between the third and fourth column of egg, of the first filled box, i was always receiving a 6iv Pokemon, while other where 5 ivs.
So i think that the reset thing is just not working, and i still cannot figure when the shiny egg is determined
shiny egg is determined when it is bred. You just gotta keep at it.
@@TheCaddington so you think it's just a coincidence that i hatched the same and only 6ivs Charmander over and over?
@@GiuseppeMaiolico unless youre doing the method wrong they will be different charmanders every time. check natures and everything as well, if they are the same then youre doing it wrong
@@TheCaddington yes, i have to admit that between the resets, they all had different natures and ivs spread
This would of saved me so much time. I was shiny breeding and had to give up because I ran out of money to buy ingredients.
I was under the impression that flame body no longer works
Wow some great tip.
Iv spent loads of time releasing and single selecting 😂
Are the eggs not pre determined like games before so even if you reset from save its the same pokemon with the same stats as the first time hatched
They are pre determined after they go in your box, which is why you save before breeding.
But won’t restarting the game reset the egg chain
Does resetting and hatching the same eggs actually work? Or are the shiny rolls predetermined before they are hatched?
No, you have to save before breeding, breed - hatch - no shinys, then reset, and make a whole new batch of eggs. It saves you the money and time releasing each egg. Sadly not the breeding process, that is impossible
@@TheCaddington thank you for this clarification. great video. earned a new sub
Why can't you load after breeding
When I do not hatch a lot of eggs, I like to fill the box with pokemon on some collumns and let only the other collumns empty so that you can swap collumns of hatched poke with collumns of eggs quickly. It is not a huge gain of time and probably you will take full boxes of eggs so you will not need that.
I'm so mad that I didn't know you can soft reset egg hatching
