Considering all we know about how Oda does things now and considering what Chopper does and what his fruit looks like, we can summarize the situation pretty neatly:
-Chopper has human like intelligence and his "full human form" is quite hairy
-Chopper can grow to giant size by eating a pellet
-Chopper became a doctor after eating his fruit
-His fruit looks like a mushroom with a red top
Conclusion: Chopper ate the "Hito Hito no Mi model: Doctor Mario"

My hottest take is that Chopper's fruit is, in actuality, the Hito Hito No Mi Model: Mink. I first considered this in Zhou when they offhandedly mentioned that the minks call humans "lesser minks" because they think humans are just mostly-hairless minks. The similarities between Sulong and Monster Point made me even more suspicious, and seeing Chopper's rumble ball working for Bepo got me 100% in on the theory.

    • @tehlazyprop
      @tehlazyprop Год назад +116

A lot of it's strangeness makes a lot more sense if you think of it as the mink fruit. His default brain point form looks a lot like some of the minks we've seen, and it explains his inability to FULLY become a human. I think his points are all combinations of various attributes from his reindeer, mink, and sulong forms. If I'm right, we will see Chopper use electro before the end of the series.

Since Luffy’s fruit reveal, I’ve begun to think that all Devil Fruits are driven somewhat by imagination, rather than physicality. That the user is essentially pushing their internal logic to determine the limits of the fruits
I think it’d explain weird powers like Baby 5 (what she can become is limited to whatever she herself considers a weapon), or odd abilities like Law’s Gamma Knife/Injection Shot (which don’t really make sense unless you think “this room is my operating theatre, as a doctor I can do this, so in here I can do it as well”)
This could also link to your suggestion that Chopper sees himself as a monster, so his fruit takes on more monster like properties

After the 2 year training arc, chopper doesn't need the rumble ball anymore except for his gigantic form. He basically modified his power using science. As for his "human" form, it's really just a very hairy human, according to one piece standards. Though after the training arc he made it bulkier and more monstrous as you said. The only strange thing is that he's still so small in his hybrid form despite reaching an adult size in his animal form.

Posttime skip it feel like he have total control on how his transformations look like. His new form, the kung fu point, look exactly like the humans from the island he was, so it is more likely intentional. He said himself he decided to become a monster so he doesn’t need his human form to look human anymore, so he CHOOSE to make it look like it. Then, it mean the fact his hybrid form is still so small is intentional too, this is the form he like to take by default, he like looking like that, this is a choice he made himself.

Chopper's fruit also seems to have had a major effect on one other aspect of him, his aging. Chopper was already 15 when we first met him, which, for a reindeer, would actually be extremely old. And, by now, he's probably nearly nineteen, which is older than ANY reindeer ever gets. And yet he is, if anything younger physically than even a human, would be at his age. Also he still has the iron repair band on his antler even though, as a reindeer, he should have shed and re-greown his antlers many, many times since he broke it (unless he now just adds one for cosmetic reasons). I have a nagging suspicion that Chopper is going to live to an age far beyond what even a normal human will (even without factoring in that, as a doctor, he has a pretty good idea of how to keep himself healthy.)

The failed forms which is the ones we see in impale down in which the animal side takes over and a true awakening in what we see with Lucci where the human side takes over. I always figured he used drugs to unlock specific features of his fruit so all his 'points' were just the hybrid form forced to emphasize different features. In which case any zoan user could potentially hybrid into specific forms. For example, someone with a bird fruit would normally hybrid into wings, beak, claws, etc. But perhaps if they were to take Chopper's drugs or learn his technique they could manifest ONLY wings, or ONLY feet depending on what they needed. Though looking at how Oda likes to go back and change things to suit what he wants to tell now it's more likely than not chopper will suddenly have a mythical fruit like Luffy does now and he'll say "Oh there is no human form because it isn't REALLY a normal human fruit."

  • @LoganWH8

Back when we first learned that “a certain devil fruit in use on Wano” existed under a false identity, and we had yet to learn that it was Luffy’s, I had the idea that that devil fruit was the Hito Hito no mi, and instead of being a human Zoan, it was actually an *evolution* Paramecia, because we’d never seen Chopper go full human, and many of his points like guard and original horn point actually become distinctly less human. Instead, I theorized that all of Chopper’s transformations were actually different paths of evolution reindeer in the world of One Piece could eventually take, and the reason the five elders were so concerned about it was because if it awakened, the user could evolve other beings, and we would learn that an ancient user of that fruit was responsible for creating all the various races of the world like Fishmen, Minks, Giants, and Longarm tribesmen by evolving standard humans into them.

There's no mescaline in amanita muscaria. There's other halluciniogenics but not mescaline. Actually, there's *nothing whatsoever* that contains mescaline growing in Northern Europe where the tradition stems from, and definitely not in the area where the Sami people (Sweden's indigenous people, the only ones still herding reindeer in the world) live.

Actually I wanted to correct this too - not only are mushrooms not vegetables (they’re a complex system of mycelium) Amanita’s do not contain mescaline - you’re confusing it with peyote. This is an important distinction because mescaline has desirable traits but Aminitas, which contain muscimol (not even psilocybin, the active psyedelic component in most commonly done psychoactive mushrooms) are extremely dissociative and toxic to the human body. Do not think you can eat the shrooms chopper did, because even if you and didn’t die, you will not have the silly trip you’re thinking of. You’re looking for mushrooms that grow in poop or woodchips and aren’t as pretty - sorry

I think choppers fruit is honestly pretty consistent with zoan lore, its just an issue of everyone thinking its weird because we're human.
Even when fully transformed zoan users retain some features of their alternate form, like the sword growing elephant tusks or lucy being a leopard with frizzy hair so it stands to reason choppers human form would retain some parts of being a reindeer like being extra hairy. And we've seen humans in every shape and size in one piece so chopper doesnt really stand out much compared to most people. If katakuri can be a human thats 20ft tall with shark teeth then choppers human form can be hairy with big arms.
As for his other forms theyre explained via the rumble balls unlocking new forms and him learning to use them. I mean maybe every zoan has an unlimited number of forms and people are just uncreative with it or dont try to learn new forms because they never thought to, its not like there are devil fruit masters out there handing down techniques and the fruits are so rare people arent sure they're real outside the grand line. How long did it take momo to learn to transform between the basic forms, how would you expect some normal person to think of a new form or awakening without seeing someone else do it first.

Why it doesn't add to it's bounty value is because of 2 things
      1. The pirate could be brought in dead, which would mean no fruit, it reincarnated somewhere else
      2. If they got the pirate alive, they would still need to find the type of fruit the DF would reincarnate into, and then have it on hand when killing him, and we don't even know if that's how reincarnation actually even works.
Plus acquiring the fruit themselves has a much higher value then ridding the world of one, relatively inactive, pirates shenanigans.

We've seen many instances where animals don't coexist with each other, but only do so whenever Chopper has an influence since he's able to communicate with almost all of them. Secondly, the mystery of Drum Island, we have Kureha talking about the Will of D, Hiriluk talking about haki users, Joyboy and the Void Century in his iconic speech, and lastly Blackbeard comes to visit the island for some reason. So clearly there is some grander occurrence happening with Drum Island and its history, it could be related to Chopper's uncommon Devil fruit.

Human eating the human human fruit equals a normal human who now cannot swim

If perception is the key to how a devil fruit works, it makes sense Chopper's first transformation into a human would be like...that. He was an ordinary reindeer and lacked the higher brain function to properly visualize being a human. By the time his brainpower fully kicked in, he was already traumatized. Onimaru had years of practice, and for all we know he also had to iron out his transformation at first. I'd like to think Chopper *is* able to turn into a proper human by this point, but has never felt any reason to. It wouldn't have any use in combat, and his identity is so closely tied to Brain Point that it's his default rather than his actual natural reindeer form.

Only Oda can design a smoking reindeer, in a Hawaiian shirt, whos expression says 'I never recover from my traumatizing experiences', and say "this isn't unique enough."

since the introduction of minks i started believing chopper wasnt a real reindeer but an hybrid . We dont really know the rules of reproduction in one piece but hybrids between minks and fishmen , human and fishmen and hinted human minks exists in universe so i believe an hybrid animal minks is possible . My theory : chopper is born hybrid from a reindeer and a minks , his parents died and he lives with the pack on 4 feet . When he ate the hito hito no mi he didnt transform into humanoid but his minks instincts took over and he developped human traits with rumble ball afterwards

I think that Chopper being some sort of sub-variant does actually make sense, like complete sense, for one simple reason.
"I was a reindeer. I ate something. It changed me."
He doesn't KNOW what it was he actually ate as far as human terminology goes, because he was literally still a reindeer when he ate it.
Whatever exactly tells someone what the sub-variant they consumed was, whether it's a different look or an understanding of it's powers after consumption, is basically something that doesn't apply to Chopper, because he wasn't human to start with, and no one that might know how to identify it, has done so.
I'm honestly kind of wondering/expecting this to actually be officially clarified whenever they finally come face to face with vegapunk.
My genuine thoughts are that it's probably a unique/unidentified one, similarly to how CP9's were "unknown effect", and because he's a reindeer, rather than a human, he can't really describe the actual transformations, and may not even be able to properly control/understand them, in the same way a human would be able to.
I will say that Wendigo makes WAY too much sense, especially considering where he's from and what species he naturally was. However, if zoan types are supposed to influence their personality... Chopper isn't at all bloodthirsty, like a Wendigo would be. Even his thriller bark transformation didn't really feel like a wendigo, but just a "generic monster".

My head-cannon is that the fruit Chopper ate is the Hito Hito No Mi: Model Human and it allows him to transform into all the human races:
His base form would be Walk Point, ressembling a reindeer.
Brain Point would be his hybrid form, half human and half reindeer with the boost in intelligence that means.
"Base Human" would be his Heavy Point
Longarm Tribe would be his Arm Point, which is substituted after time skip with Kung Fu Point.
Longleg Tribe would be his Jumping Point
Snakeneck Tribe would be his Guard Point
Giants would ressemble his form after eating a Rumble Ball and going Monster Point, and then the consequences of the abuse of this form leaves him in a "Dwarf/Tontatta" state.
Note that after the Time Skip, Chopper can get into any Point but Monster Point without the need of Rumble Balls

to me monster point is a forced/failed awakening (due to the rumble ball) and that's why he doesn't have that cloud "scarf" around his neck like luffy or lucci, so i think chopper will some day learn how to use it naturally and monster point would officially become his awakening
    just a headcanon tho

I remember vividly that after the time skip the first time chopper used monster point he talked about how its the only point he has to use a rumble ball now and he can use it for 3 minutes. I cant find the clip right now but every time chopper comes up i hear that he only has 3 base points when I'm pretty sure he can use any one of them now freely

If I remember correctly, fruits were called like that because they had a demon inside that stayed in your heart and the reason why you died when consuming 2 is because demons fight for your body
