Great bikes! Thank you for sharing your experience with them. Those were great to film from. Loved seeing the beautiful architecture in your area of the world. I hope you will take us on more bike rides. Thank you!❤️
These bikes look pretty awesome, all the rewards of cycling with less effort, what more could you want. On the house inspo, I agree with Tara that the traditional granite in all the different shapes and sizes with white render looks beautiful. What an opportunity to be able to build something that will hopefully last generations.
Big thank you for letting people know about our current struggle and introducing your community to ours ❤ Right now, the Portuguese youtubers really show what kindness and caring really mean. And we all can do with a healthy dose of kindness right now. Once again, thank you for the shout-out ❤❤
I used to clip the dummie as you call it to my sons shirt with a wonderful ribbon designed by my mother, so when he spit it out it was always within his reach. A mother of seven that always was full of wisdom.
Since giving birth to my 3rd baby 7 months ago I have suffered with anxiety and watching your amazing family relaxes me instantly. There’s just something so calming about Tara and John. So, Thankyou! For helping me without even knowing it, you really do bring light into my dark days 💗
Poor Sawyer. He just can’t stay awake. At least he has a nice seat on the Himiway. We have always loved stone/granite houses. I like the straight, square cut stone.
I love the way you include your babies.. they look so happy ❤😊🎉 cool ECO bikes 🚲🏍️🛵 being cousin to Dan Albone the award winning English cyclist..who designed the folding ladies bicycle and Ivel engine in the 1900’s.. Dan would be amazed..
Fantastic bikes 🚴!!! So many adventures ahead for you all 🎉. My suggestion for not losing the pacifier is to tie a ribbon to it and use a diaper pin 🧷 to attach it to his shirt …. He will never lose it again ❤👍 So many beautiful homes in your area !! I’m looking forward to seeing what design you choose ! 😘
Okay the bikes are great …. and you will have fun riding around with the boys …. but I have to say it’s Sawyer that’s made me smile today he is just beautiful… reminds of a baby Crusoe 💙🌈
Hi John, Tara I live in Légua and it is a pride to know that you like our village and take it beyond borders. I'm always keeping up with everything that's going on. Thank you.
You’re spoilt for choice with different home design options and what a lovely way to research them too. “Go to India and pick up a dog” 😊😊. Sweet surrenderings to the Newbys 🎊 ❤
It just beautiful. I am retired and live in a 55+ community. In Mesa, AZ. USA. Have been thinking about buying one. I would like to travel to the market and to do laundry. I bet these will work. Glad for the video. Answer a lot of questions.boy the kids like it. I have a little dog and grandbaby. Thanks so much.
❤❤❤Thank you 👍🙏👍 Newbyz for riding with us through your beautiful ❤️ neighborhood, the lovely boys enjoyed your ride. This is a Super way to exercise with family and stay fit and healthy
You are both such an inspiration to your community. My hubby and I are getting older, in our 70s, and we were talking about getting electric bikes because we spend lots of time in the great outdoors. I appreciate your favorable comments regarding the bikes you are using in this episode. Looks like these are the ones we need ♡
Thank you also for sharing your amazing neighborhood with us. It makes it hard to stay here in the USA because we are tempted to move across the pond. The main thing that keeps us home is family and grandchildren ❤
I’m 66 and I looooove my electric bike. We have urban trails so we got a a Surface607 from Canada. If you want to get out but can’t quite do the trails as before, get one!
WHAT A FABULOUS VIDEO JOHN AND TARA ~ WITH PRECIOUS LITTLE DARLINGS 💕💕 CRUSOE AND SAWYER - SO ENJOYING THE "HIMIWAY" ELECTRIC BIKE RIDES. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ACCEPTING THOSE STUNNING BIKES TOO ❤️ .... YOU HAVE NOW ENCOURAGED ME TO GOOGLE THEM IN ORDER TO PURCHASE ONE ! ! ! AS ALWAYS ~ LOVED, LOVED ❤️❤️ + ❤️❤️ SEEING YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN XX+xx
Oh yes, granite with big white spaces! This goes wonderfully with the stone house and looks traditional and timeless at the same time! ❤😊 Funny how some people are happy about the streets... As a village child, I hated them! But with the wide tires it might be better.
Wow! I love that the bikes go 80 miles before they need another charge. Love the new bikes! How fun for the your family. I’m sure the boys are loving the rides. 😊
It was wonderful to be able to see some of your area. The bikes look like fun not so such hard work. Crusoe and Sawyer enjoyed it. Thanks for taking us along. Yes Dan and Sindy need us all to do what we can for them. Take care.
We recently found your channel and decided to go all the way back to watch them all from the beginning. We truly resonate with your endeavors because 48 years ago as newly married “kids” in our very early 20s we defied the wisdom of our parents and chose to purchase 15 acres of forest land in the northeastern part of the beautiful state of Oregon, USA. There was no electricity, the closest connection was about three miles down the road. There was no water on the property, but there was a natural spring about a mile away. We tore down an old barn and used the beautiful old timbers to build a cabin for ourselves. Our property was high on a hill overlooking a thousand-foot-deep valley and the river that ran through it. We chose not to put door on our privy because the view was just too good. When we were pregnant with our first child we decided it would not be an easy life bringing up a child where we had to haul water, so we sold the property and moved closer to, but not in, town. And now all these years later we still truly regret making the decision to sell and move. Here we are now pushing 70 and we find that our dream has never fully faded. We are hoping to take it up again in the next couple of years. Watching your episodes has just reinforced the dream. So thank you for that!
Ah this is amazing friend. We are so excited to have you part of our journey! Sounds like such an exciting plan you have, remember you are never too old or too young to Be Brave, Think Big and Explore. We are so happy we could reinforce those dreams. Thanks so much for watching 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
I would build in that style with higgledypiggledy stones but would also incorporate a walled courtyard. They become a cooling space if you build a pond and fountain in the middle and fill with potted plants and vines.
I love the style and materials of your current House. I think you should not pull that down, but extend it. Maybe gut the other section and join the two together in the renovation of the other section. Lots cheaper, maintains the history and architecture of your property and will blend in beautifully with the homes around you.
The wife and I love your content. Glad you've found something that works in rural areas, I'll add it to the list of future purchases. Thanks for the recommendation and hope I might be a winner! Good luck finding the best housing style, it took us 25 houses before we settled on a winner.
Maybe, make a simple cork vision board! Take your favorite ideas and pin them up so that you see them every day. That way, when you see the right idea for your homestead, you will know immediately the right decision to make. I find it to be a simple and powerful tool. Takes the anxiety out of making big decisions. Cheers!
Happy new experiences for Crusoe and Sawyer, you too!!! You've never ridden a bike with a co pilot before!!! Beautiful, serene life in beautiful serene places!👌✌💞
Such beautiful alleys, looks like u had the whole village to urself, and sawyer was so…enjoying himself, good seats for both the children, so amazing❤❤❤
My 11 yo daughter and I electric biked in Italy a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. Turbo mode was what we called it when we needed an extra boost. Those look amazing. What a wonderful way to explore as a family!
Being retired now and enjoying getting out, an electric bike would be an awesome thing to have and use. Exciting!! I am also excited about your new build. I love the stones and agree with you Tara that the ones that are not uniform look beautiful.
its called a bell roof. I love them. The house my mum built in Bulawayo on her own with two bricklayers had a roof like that. I love the idea of granite walls with lime mortar. I am so excited for you.
Hiya Newbys! Wow, thankyou for showing your neighbourhood. I love the granite stones and yours with the white rendering between. Yes, yes , yes to creating your new home to be in keeping with your surroundings👍.The bikes a perfect mode of transport, you can talk to the boys as you go and point out things of interest, safe too on those quiet lanes. As always, thanks for sharing and sending lots of love xx❤️💙💙💙
Hello Tara, John, Crusoe and Sawyer thank you for taking us around the sights of your town. I can now see why you chose Northern Portugal to live. The Himiway electric bikes are beautiful and I can see you all spending hours on them as a family enjoying yourselves. Cheers until next time.
These could help get a disabled person (my ladders gave way at work) out and about. Some fresh air even on a grey day would be helpful. I might get one next summer, thanks.
Brilliant bikes. I want one. I love the boys haircuts. They seem to really enjoy the bike rides. It’s lovely riding through the beautiful Portuguese countryside x
Pipis is a good word Tara for the pointy things on the roof, but I think they might be called finials. And I am loving the ideas you are both having for your house.
Hi John and Tara. Im really enjoying the bike ride with the boys . The things on the roof are called finials l think. What a gorgeous family outing riding around in the sunshine and then you go home to .paradise. Thanks for taking us with you. Hugs to you all. Jill ❤️🌈🇦🇺🦋
Your youtube channel has made me fall in love with Portugal. The architecture, the people, the culture....life seems so much more quiet and simple despite the challenges that regular life can bring! Cheers from Vancouver Island Canada
After 8 years of an 8-mile cycle commute, the local bike shop let me borrow an electric for a day. Felt like superman, couldn;t stop smiling. Slept on it (big purchase) and went back to make it mine the next morning. That was about fifteen years ago, would find it very hard to go back to non-assisted now. (I did ruin the range after a while - look after those batteries.)
That was so much fun going through your surroundings. So peaceful and beautiful. We got our e-bikes in May and love them. We're both 79, so a little help going up hills is appreciated 😊. Keep enjoying life ❤❤.
Happy Wednesday Newby family, very interesting and different video about you all visiting your neighborhood, now we know why you picked North of Portugal, really like the granite stone work of your own stone house but the 1st house shown at the end is quite beautiful and the orange tiles add the Mediterranean look, I would work also with different colours of granite stones to add more originality. The boys with their helmets so cute and good jolly travellers, you will enjoy certainly more rides on those impressive e-bykes with your family. Cheers to you all and greetings from us afar.🙏🥰💖🌄🇵🇹🏡🚲🚲🚲🚲
We loved this video. What a fantastic family adventure. It was great to see the area you live in with the scenery, stonework and landscape. As we approach 70, I think an e-bike makes sense for us. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I love that you are using the Himiway bikes to tour and find examples of what would be beautiful on your property. Like you I find the granite quite stunning. It’s amazing to see this level of workmanship. And it looks like your boys are enjoying the trip as well. I am so jealous of those bikes. Cheers! 🚵♀️⚡️
My husband loves his e-bike. I would have loved to ride one when I was younger and still had my vision. We tried a three wheel e-bike and I flipped into the ditch because I couldn’t judge the distance. 😢thank you for the tour today. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
They are amazing Tracy! So glad your husband loves his e-bike. Sorry to hear about your little incident, that is not nice. Thanks so much for watching friend 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
BRAVO, GUYS!! So delighted to see you are all wearing bike helmets. 😍 I see so many people where they put their children in helmets and then don't wear them themselves, or none of the family have them at all. Just... Happy heart here ❤️❤️❤️
🦋 i’m not bothered by this at all I love looking at all those different houses in those little roads and pads that you’re going on with the bikes it’s so beautiful.
I think this beautiful new bike is wonderful. As a senior it would get me back on a bicyclist. Thank you for sharing your beautiful day on the bike, & the boys sure had lots of fun. 🥰😎
Dan and Cindy, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Those are nice bikes. Great for your family. I love Sawyer and Crusoe giving high fives. Thr surrounding neighborhood is lovely. I definitely agree, keep your build to match the neighborhood. I loved that 2 story yellow house. I also like the long eindows with the same decorative windows on top of the long windows. To me thatbis Portugal. I also loved that roof that you both like with the finials. I can't help but say the boys are like teins, just different ages. Sawyer favors Crusoe so much and they both definitely have John's mouth and smile and nose. Best wishes slways Newby's. Thank for giving a shout out to Cindy who really needs our good thoughts and prayers for healing. ❤
What a gorgeous day to be out riding e-bikes with the family! I do enjoy following along with the progress of the homestead & watching the boys as they grow!❤ I love that you all are down to earth & not giving us another rosey colored type reality.😊
Oh my, your boys with their helmets ! So cute, Sawyer a mini Crusoe, definitely no longer the baby ! Great idea to tour the local area on bikes. You see so much more. I love that you want to stay in tune with the local traditional homes and villages. 💕🌷
We had the best outing as a family Yvonne! Thanks so much for watching friend. We are definitely going to try stay in tune with the local traditional homes and villages 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
Yes, the fence walls should be porous due to all the rain and runoff in Portugal. That way water goes through and does not wash away the walls. Of course the house walls are different and would be rendered. You could leave or make a portion unrendered as a feature wall like for a fireplace etc.
Loved this video. It looks like a beautiful area. Amazing views, gorgeous old homes. Love the collection of shots at the end. The boys had a great time. My boys used to love being donkeyed on the back of my very old cycle to playgroup. I would be exhausted. I never said to anyone how hard it was to push it along ( I thought I 2as just unfit) till one day another mum hopped on and said omg how do you ride this bike!?! It's so hard and difficult.😅 I had my dad work on it after that and it was so much better. The things we do! The snippets of your English ride look good. Might have to try and find that video. 🤔 ❤
I’m with you Tara. The grey granite stone with white pointing is not only beautiful but charming. Wonderful Vlog. The boys were adorable especially Sawyer so relaxed and comfy.
You stole my question John - I was going to ask how far they go on a single charge and you told us. Fantastic battery life. And I don’t envy you both having to make choices about your house style, there is so much wonderful styles for you to chose from. Looking forward to seeing some plans.
That was absolutely awesome, travelling through the streets of Portugal while sitting here in Australia! Thankyou for sharing all the gorgeous views and homes in your neck of the woods with your sweet boys on the back of those fantastic bikes. What a lovely way to spend a day! Look forward to seeing the house plan you decide on.
wow those bikes look great - 80miles one charge! i agree with Tara’s choice of stone finish for the new build with the fill and no straight lines - you’ll be totally inspired on the ride - hope you find your perfect combination 😊👍
🦋 what I love about those bikes is that you can go on a bike ride with your two children on the back of each bike and not exhaust yourselves. But are having fun and are doing it. I have only ridden one electric bike. I don’t remember the name brand, but it was so big and heavy and if the battery had run out, it would’ve been very difficult for me to push it home. Your bikes, even the one is larger than the other, they still seem more compact than most electric bikes that I’ve seen here in the US.
The bikes look like great fun, and the boys enjoyed the ride too. The houses are all so lovely around your area, I hope you found some inspiration 😁💗💗💗
Great new video and I'm brimming with envy - would love an electric bike. And I agree the irregular granite with white is beautiful. Good luck with this next part of the journey - can't imagine it will be easy.
LOVE that you LOVE the Traditional buildings and have embraced the importance of being very mindful of where you are living, it's history and being so mindful, thoughtful and caring of your neighbours and the community. WELL DONE 👍🏻❤️👏🏻🙏🏻🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺
The big stone build will be amazing, love the look. We bought an electric bike for our challenged adult son for his 50 th birthday this summer and he love it! Too bad he can’t use it much during our Canadian prairie winter, enjoy yours , I know you will

These bikes look pretty awesome, all the rewards of cycling with less effort, what more could you want.
On the house inspo, I agree with Tara that the traditional granite in all the different shapes and sizes with white render looks beautiful. What an opportunity to be able to build something that will hopefully last generations.
Big thank you for letting people know about our current struggle and introducing your community to ours ❤
Right now, the Portuguese youtubers really show what kindness and caring really mean.

The scouting trip with silent and eco friendly bikes does it for me.
I’m going to explore more about the bikes; thanks for the feedback on them!
Poor Sawyer. He just can’t stay awake. At least he has a nice seat on the Himiway. We have always loved stone/granite houses. I like the straight, square cut stone.
Also this is the cutest video ever of Sawyer!!! Between the foot in the seat and the mouth bubble blowing thing.
Thanks for sending the kind message to Dan and Sindy. I've been amazed to see how many channels are supporting them.
The high five between the boys was so sweet.
Oh my, Crusoe has had a haircut!!!!! I love those boys of yours so much, they give me so much joy to watch🎉
Fantastic bikes 🚴!!! So many adventures ahead for you all 🎉.
My suggestion for not losing the pacifier is to tie a ribbon to it and use a diaper pin 🧷 to attach it to his shirt …. He will never lose it again ❤👍
So many beautiful homes in your area !! I’m looking forward to seeing what design you choose ! 😘
They are a complete game changer Holly, absolutely amazing! Thanks for the dummy clip idea, will keep it in mind 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
Love the suggestion about the pacifier. I'm a GrandPa
Already listening to Generation X at such a young age? “Ready Steady Go!” 🤘
Oh such fun. Little Sawyer with the helmet is so sweet. LOVED your ideal block house.
Okay the bikes are great …. and you will have fun riding around with the boys …. but I have to say it’s Sawyer that’s made me smile today he is just beautiful… reminds of a baby Crusoe 💙🌈

Oh my gosh! A bike tour of rural Portugal. Simply the best! You could do this many, many times and I would never grow tired.
Family on tour. Such bikes are a blessing. You can active time spend in natur, without getting to tired with kids❤.
Sawyer is growing up so fast. God bless him.
He is indeed Janet! Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️🙏🏼😃🏡🇵🇹

old stone is the way to go, it would be amazing if there were a old home you could dismantle and bring it back to life on your place.
Beautiful video, beautiful family, beautiful children! They have so many similarities, they look like twins, gorgeous! 💕

Also, use lime whitewash on the outside of your house if you have any non-granite walls as the walls can breathe!
When I saw you all set off with Sawyer's unattached dummy I thought "thank goodness John is on a Himiway!"😂❤
😂😂 this one made us giggle Virginia! You are quite right, thank goodness we had a Himiway! Thanks so much for watching 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
So nice seeing the Portuguese rolls attached to your neighbor’s door.
Yum.. so fresh.
I hope they deliver to you too!
This might be the boy's new favourite thing to do.👍
We loved this video.
Cheers! 🚵♀️⚡️
They are amazing Leo! Thanks so much for watching friend 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
Which model of the bike were y’all using in the video?
My husband loves his e-bike. I would have loved to ride one when I was younger and still had my vision. We tried a three wheel e-bike and I flipped into the ditch because I couldn’t judge the distance. 😢thank you for the tour today. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
They are amazing Tracy! So glad your husband loves his e-bike. Sorry to hear about your little incident, that is not nice. Thanks so much for watching friend 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
I really love the traditional tile roof it’s so unique and the granite is extraordinary
BRAVO, GUYS!! So delighted to see you are all wearing bike helmets. 😍 I see so many people where they put their children in helmets and then don't wear them themselves, or none of the family have them at all. Just... Happy heart here ❤️❤️❤️
I just received my Himiway Zebra!!! Love it! I'm so glad you are in such a lovely area to ride❤
I just love everything about 'The Newby's'❤You are the best!!
Thanks guys. You filled my heart with joy by looking at this beautiful and very traditional Portuguese houses. ❤❤❤❤
🦋 i’m not bothered by this at all I love looking at all those different houses in those little roads and pads that you’re going on with the bikes it’s so beautiful.
I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains..the electric bike looks worth looking into.. thanks for showing us how fun!
Looks like a very lovely way to see the countryside with a young family
I thoroughly enjoyed your ride! Favorite house was where the stones were "higgledy piggledy", gorgeous!! 🤍
That was an awesome tour of your neighborhood. The boys were little angels!
Be bold. Do you. 🙌 I love whatever you do. I enjoyed the change of scenery.
The boys grew so fast, looking great
🦋 what I love about those bikes is that you can go on a bike ride with your two children on the back of each bike and not exhaust yourselves.
The homes in your village are beautiful, thanks for sharing them with us.
Your Himiway bikes are a game changer! Great way to get out & some vitamin D 🥰
The bikes look like great fun, and the boys enjoyed the ride too. The houses are all so lovely around your area, I hope you found some inspiration 😁💗💗💗
You are so lucky to have the bikes. I would love to spend time with my daughter this way.
Those beautiful things on the rooftops are finials, the finish it off.
The big stone build will be amazing, love the look. We bought an electric bike for our challenged adult son for his 50 th birthday this summer and he love it! Too bad he can’t use it much during our Canadian prairie winter, enjoy yours , I know you will
Ah that sounds amazing friend, what a special present! Thanks so much for watching 🚲👏🏼❤️🙏🏼😁🇵🇹
