Life in the 80s looked almost like a dream.
It was another world. Strangers were kind, the colors seemed brighter, and there was a collective sense of unbridled optimism for the future. I would give anything to go back.

You can say the same thing about the 90s too my childhood by the way.
I spent the entire 80s as a young broke teenager couldn’t wait for the future when I’d one day have a good job, decent car, nice house, foreign holidays. I got all that now and continually find myself wishing I was back there in the 80s partying without a care in the world.

I was a baby/toddler in the 80s and a kid/teen of the 90s. Two great eras for being a kiddo. Yet.. I have always said if I could travel back in time and live at any point and at any age...I would choose being a teenager in the 1980s.

It's funny how nostalgic this track makes me feel even though I never spent a single day of my life in the 80s. Sure, I grew up on Scarface and a few other classics, but damn, you don't realize how much impact the music in those movies had until you hear these vibes again. Immediately makes me want to watch them all over again.

Same, I was born in 2003, not even in the 20th century. 80s seems perfect in my mind. If you put an 1080s society, music, and economy with modern technology (like games, TV's, PC's, etc.) That would be a perfect society in my opinion. Adults would appreciate the fact kids would be more respectful and willing to put the phone down, or game aside and help them or do better in school willingly. Yes, I wish I had a school like in the 80s. I'd aim to not only pass the class (as I do now), I'd also aim not to get two ass beatings (one at school, the other at home).
Miss the days before technology and social media took over so much. I want them back so badly. It was a more carefree and simple world then. Life sucks now.

Cool. The eighties had a certain vibe. Remember my childhood growing up with poor mother, yuppi father (divorced) Amstrad, Commodore 64, Moviebox, VHS rentals, Ferris Buller's Day Off, back to the future, great pop music and BMX bixes. The era had good and bad things. A lot of contrast, hedonism/escapisme and fashion. With social media, smartphones, tablets, app and what you today it could never be same in these times.
My 80's where different. The 90's where cool and horroble at the same time. I remember how things changed over night in 91 when USSR collapsed. All of a sudden foreign music and movies (mostly US) became real , bubble gum and bananas, pineapples, no lines for products, MTV, bums & prostitutes, crackheads, rundown buildings and factories, aids and crime. Every few months something changed and it never stopped really.. but the media is mostly crap now.. oh wheel at least we have a some choice now.
negativ9009 Sure we have more choices today and more technological distractions than in the eighties and ninties. I both love and hate our "smartphones". They are the preferred drug of the years we live in now.
I loved the music of the early 90's, the electronic scene, madchester, shoegaze, grunge and the explosion of rave parties. MTV started out really good, and gave room for good pop/rock music, alternative music and electronic music, but ender up like shit today with no really substance. The more choices we have, the more accessible things are, less sub culture, and perhaps more people less dedicated or passionate (at least talking about the masses) Streaming music and having all music available will do that to you, I think. Hope I dont come off as an grumpy old

yes you're right. but I will disagree on subcultures, we have more of them than ever before thanks to the internet and social media new ones just keep on popping out almost every year and unlike before they don't have a geographical boundaries like they where about 15 yrs ago. I think soon we will have to many of them to grasp. And sadly disposable music became the norm nowadays but thats just the marketing thing I guess.
There are some material similarities between the `80s and 2010s. Cell phones and computer technology having a certain focus (though they're far more advanced and commonplace now), extreme sports (as seen in this video), `80s reboots, retro styles...
Born in 94 but my head is in 80s
Born 1980 I was a toddler when this footage was filmed it was a simpler time bad things happened then for sure, but since 2002 its been going downhill.Chaos...2020
Born in 88 my head is in both the 80s and the 90s.
Back in the 80's when I was a kid, my dad lived less than 1/4 from the sands of Seal Beach in Los Angeles. We would walk right up there. This video almost makes me want to cry. Like as if I survived an apocalypse (2020), and came across archival footage before the chaos.

I was 18 in 83 man.... I miss the 80's lots of fun back then. All the right and left wingnuts were where they should be in the nut house now you have them in key positions in state and fed offices and of course they are all over TV..
