- Round 3 of the British National Cyclocross trophy saw us head to South Shields in North East to take on an absolutely brutal course. With some brutal winds to contest with as well as off-cambers, sand pits and hurdles made for a tough course on a wet and slippery surface.
I hope you enjoyed the video and please do Like & Subscribe!
The Rocket called it, double rainbow indeed. Great effort though. No kidding the first lap always hurts the worst. What can you say though, it's Nationals. It's always gonna be a lot tougher than your local race series. The view of the sea was very cool to see.
I completely missed the rainbow due to trying to survive 😂 It certainly does and I’m not sure you ever get used to the pain of the first lap… especially at national level these guys are super fast 😅
Giorgio, these videos are phenomenal. Never stop
Thanks Mateo appreciate it 🙌
"Jesus needs to take the wheel…" 🤣 love it!

another top race video - always a great perspective of CX and you are making improvements each time - you earnt those cakes today!
Thanks mate 😄 a little improvement each week is the goal and I think I’m still burning off all the cakes now 😅😂
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling I'm not even interested in CX, but the enthusiasm makes these all well worth watching!
Getting closer, nice progress. Loved it once again especially the commentary 😂
Thanks mate 🙌 hope your racing is going well!
Every onboard video is inspiring for me. Will try to remember your effort and what you said about elbows on the next race. Its on sunday already.
Thank you and good luck on Sunday 💪

If I ever find out it will be top secret information 😜😂
Good lad!
Starts are always a tuff one. Gets better and better there mate! As an XC i realy enjoy your videos! keep them comming! Are you planning on doing more XC races in the future?
How does it work with the 80% cut off? can you progress in the ''overall'' standings, if you have a better race this time than last time, and still get cut off?
Thanks mate! I will likely be racing torq12 next year which is a 12hr team race and am thinking it might be worth hitting a few before I do that and let the team down 😜 but not 100% sure on racing next year will definitely need a break after cross 😅
With the cut off you still get an overall finish place and that is what they count towards the series… so you still score but it would definitely be nicer to actually finish 😅
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling awesome with the 12hr race, I’ve dane that, absolute suffer fest 😂💀
Nice that u still have to fight for places even with the cutoff 💪 Thanka mate :)
Funny thing is View from the Edge presents 15th rather than 19th as a pleasant little ditty and a mediocre goal…. but has absolutely no clue just how hard getting inside the top 20 let alone the top 15 is in these races. And, the wide angle gopro lens makes things seem further away than they are - there’s plenty of elbows in here :P
You get held up a couple times coming out of the off-camber and in other place where people make mistakes in front of you. If you’re coming in to a pinch point it can be a good idea to let off the wheel ever so slightly, so if the person in front makes a mistake you’ve got options about where to go - you do this really well about 11mins in when the guy tries to ride up the bank but there’s a little gap because he hopped the barriers and rather than getting caught up in his mistake you’re able to just come straight past.
Don’t forget ‘green is grip’, and even if you’re bleeding out your eyeballs keep looking for different line options as the course changes - on that LH off camber after a couple laps the posts moved and there was a strip of new grass on the top side which you could ride and made the whole section really easy. And then the RH off camber where you slid out and Freddie lost his tub there was a nice line staying way high and again in the much greener grass. It was coming off the shortest line, but the extra traction meant keeping position if somebody was trying to undertake you in the slippery stuff wasn’t challenging.
Great video and a great race, you’re capturing the chaos brilliantly 🎉
Couldn’t agree more it’s an achievement in my eyes just to get a full race at this level 😂
Yeah it’s definitely little things I need to learn, I sometimes panic that if I let the wheel go I won’t be able to shut it down on the flat sections 😅 but you end up losing more time when someone makes a mistake 👎
I have a bad habit of once I have chosen my line being absolutely glued to it for the race… I remember coming into the sand pit on lap 1 and everyone dismounting on the right (which was my line from practice) and then absolutely bricking it having to take the left line as I hadn’t practiced it 😂
I certainly have a lot to work on but that’s what keeps me motivated and coming back each week 👌
Well done xx loved the video
Thank you 😄
Great ride 👍🚴♂️
Thank you 😄
Keep going George, love the content. 👍💪
Thank you 🙌
Hey Giorgio, love your videos! I would suggest taking a gander at Drew Dillman's videos. He does a decent job of talking strategy during his race footage, which I learned some things from.
Thanks Steve! I will be sure to check his videos out I have just subscribed to his channel… will be good to see how it’s supposed to be done 😂
@@GiorgioCoppolaCycling I like your video style too Giorgio, don’t change too much (especially the enthusiasm).😂
If you put a big flat piece of polystyrene or a piece of A3 paper (or an actual reflector) on your lap when you're at home talking to the camera, it will get rid of the big heavy shadows under your nose, eyebrows and chin
Slightly off the wall idea but doing like Adrian did the other week and missing your grid slot at the Wessex so you have to start from the back might be a good way to practice the start scramble. Now you are starting up front you miss out on it in the league.
Could be a good idea 🤔 although it’s my only chance for a little glory battling for the podium 😂 but with race clashes I’m not sure I will be racing anymore Wessex league this year which sucks 👎
