Until Further Notice (Empty London During Lockdown)

- London is on lockdown until further notice. We could not pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity to see and film its empty streets.
In reality, it was a little busier than shown in this video, but only along the main transportation lines and commuter roads. Much of the city had an eerie silence and stillness to it. The pigeons seemed to be having a good time.
This was filmed over several days between 4:30 and 8am. Every precaution was taken to keep a safe distance from others at all times during filming.

I was working down in London during the lockdowns. It was simply incredible. No other words to describe it. Very strange feeling.
2 years on and videos like this still make my heart skip a beat. This is definitely a snap shot in history. It’s something that people will cover in history lessons. It was the time the world essentially collectively stood still. I’m classed as extremely clinically vulnerable so I was shielding. Apart from the view from my window and the news Coverage, I didn’t get to see what the world really looked like outside of my little bungalow out in the sticks of Lincolnshire.

Awesome job of my home town.... good to see from many miles away. you couldn't pay enough to get the streets empty to shoot a few years back, now you could shoot the aftermath of an apocalypse on a Sunday morning at 5am :D

This is so weird for me to say this as we are nearly approaching 4 years, as I know people have lost someone but for me who hasn't , lockdown one was one of happiest period of my life (especially when furlough was announced and approved by my employer ). I was gyming , baking , gaming (war zone) with the mrs, using house party and teams to day connected with friends and family had a proper daily routine and got so much done around the flat , sure it was was frustrating in the beginning lining for hours in line at Sainsbury's etc just to do a quick shop. Even looking forward until Thursdays at 8pm for the NHS claps truly nostalgic for me.

On a smaller scale, I had a drive around my local town centre in April 2020 on a Saturday night and everywhere, except a corner shop, was closed. I saw no one on the streets and it was weird to say the least.

I guess most of the streets you filmed would have started to get a little busier from 8am onwards which is when you stopped filming. However, it will still have been relatively less busy than on non lockdown times.
Absolutely. Around 8am there were a few runners, a handful of commuters, and a number of empty busses. Still very different to regular times.

Be great to do something like this where I live in Perth, Western Australia but theres no real difference as theres still cars on the road and people getting out as we are not on lock down here.

Thanks! I was riding a bike so it would have been classed as exercise. But filming is also our job, so it can also be classed as work. Just make sure you stay away from other people, it got a lot busier since I filmed this (so I hear). - Julian

Yeah I would have imagined it's been more busy, sort of missed opportunity. I am on the c2c line so a bit of travel from Essex and probably more chances of a fine. Might head up one evening and then again once everything goes back to normal to put it in perspective of life spinning back up. Or just capture my own area.
