One of the things I like about Vee as a character in a story is that she isn’t a hero. She doesn’t want to brave her trauma to save whatever basilisks may still be held captive and she knows it’s not her responsibility. She’s a kid who wants to rebuild her life and feel safe and happy. AND THATS OK! Ofc she doesn’t want to go back to the place and people who hurt her and she has no obligation to. It just shows that it’s ok to not be heroic and just want a normal life. Luz always wanted to be a hero, a protagonist chosen by destiny to save the day, but Vee is the opposite, a normal kid just wanting to belong, and both characters are awesome. ❤ Side note I definitely think Luz would help any captive Basilisks. Vee knows that too. Their in good hands.
The castle was destructed by Belozilla, so I assume the basilisks were freed if they were captive there. Or probably Luz and Camilla remembered they needed to be rescued.
If there's a VEE spin-off series, I think it'll be about her life with Camilla on Earth and emotionally preparing herself to visit her former home in the boiling Isles after Belos is defeated.

I was always under the impression that Vee was never intended to be a main character important to the story in any major capacity and was rather an explanation for the at the time lingering question of how Camila was handling Luz's absence considering had Vee not been there, Camila would have known something was wrong not just from Luz not coming home from camp, but from before she even got to said camp- considering Camila would have to be her ride there in the first place. Vee is there as an explanation, simply put, and was largely absent from Season 2 and stayed behind at the end of Thanks to Them because she wasn't needed for the main plot to play out. There's nothing wrong with Vee not being a major asset in the story, of course, if anything it's a treat to have her as a character present at all- this is just how I always interpreted her reasoning for being in the series. But her character arc could just as easily be the explanation instead and I could be wrong, I can't be sure, that's just my assumption.
As someone who is not a fan of throwaway characters, I am grateful for what we got from her. To remove her from the spotlight simply because she is no longer essential as a plot device would be, in my opinion, extremely lazy writing on a level unprecedented for this show.
The idea of a doppleganger to solve the issue with Camilla was genius... and the plot twist of Luz' "copy" being good, even better. I'm tired of the evil twin/copy" cliche.

The genius in that move, if there is any, is in the decision to explore why a shifter would want to impersonate our hero for any reason other than their evil agenda. Why has nearly all of fiction agreed that, if any random person were cloned, they'd inevitably fight to the death?

In 2:22 it reminds me of one episode from Gravity Falls "Soos and the Real Girl", where while fighting Soos tells Melody that "Dipper and Mabel will protect you" and she responds "Um, Soos these are children."
I see Vee's arc as being like Lake from Infinity Train. spoilers for book 2 of infinity train Lake had to live her entire life pretending to be someone she wasn't since she was a reflection of Tulip. She spent the entirety of book 2 and behind the scenes since her appearance in book 1 running from people who were trying to kill her, and leaving the train was the best thing for her because that means now she gets to be her own person on earth and there's no more fighting to survive or running for her life, she gets to be a kid. And since she got off the train with Jesse, she also has a support system on earth. I know this isn't a great explanation but their characters feel very alike, even if Lake can be pretty rude, stubborn, and tough, and Vee is not. Even the ending of book 2 feels line a parallel in a way because Lake chooses her own name, she gets to choose to be herself; and that feels like how Vee gained her own human form during the montage and decided to stay in the human realm. Actually the more I think about this, I would love it if someone made an owl house/infinity train au.
Camilla works at an animal hospital; I think that Vee potentially not knowing how to do Camilla's job will come up quicker than an IRS audit, if Camilla runs out of sick days while this Boiling Isles situation is going on.
When I heard people speculating why that first special is called "Thanks to Them" I hadn't heard somebody suggest this. I think Thanks to Them can also refer to Masha helping the Hex Squad figuring out the rebus.
Another part to consider is that while Vee is safer in the human realm, those around her are safer as well. She can't harm anyone by draining their magic because they don't have any. In the Demon Realm she's a monster. In the human realm she's not.

The only possible issue with her being in the human realm permanently is that without a source of magic they lose their transformation abilities but the finale solves that issue

Those poor people would do anything to have a normal life, but the scars of the horror they suffered would remain with them forever. Years later, she ends up going to the Boiling Islands to join the party for Luz, but it must have taken time for to face that world again, even if her friends reassured her it was safe and there were still basiliscs alive and well there.
I mean there's the obvious thing of Vee being a demon that prefers living in the human realm and Luz is a human who prefers living in the demon realm but also I just like to imagine Vee choosing to live a mundane yet fulfilling life (possibly with Masha who would likely be totally cool with Vee being a basilisk) in the human realm while Luz will end up living in the demon realm with Amity and probably still have wacky magic adventures every now and then. Also Vee likely does know what taxes are from the summer camp she went to instead of Luz

Vee explicitly tried that ;) and I thought they handled it perfectly :) * The writers couldn't just have Vee one-hit-KO Belos by draining him - cheap cop-out easy ending for that part of the story * If Vee didn't try to magic-drain Belos, the impression would've been "the writers knew that if Vee tried to magic-drain him, then she could've one-hit-KO'd him" * Instead, Vee TRIED to magic-drain Belos, and he was clearly scared of her (he'd been toying with everybody else, but when Vee attacked him, she got his UNDIVIDED attention), but even if she was the most dangerous threat to him, she wasn't dangerous ENOUGH to one-hit-KO him, and he was able to stay in the fight long enough to throw a counter-attack that could've killed her immediately if Amity hadn't thrown her to safety. TLDR: Vee is a Glass Cannon when fighting magic-based enemies.

Honestly Vee was a good character I wish she had a bit more screen time but oh well. What we got is still great but I would’ve loved to see more of her getting out there in the human realm.
Honestly I was pretty disappointed with vee’s character in the show she got literally little to no screen time and a severe lack of character development but due to the cancellation we never got to see more of her character and her developing a connection of sisterhood with luz or with her friends nor did she an episode where she began to realize how wrong she had been about luz and her life and the issues she had to deal with in the human realm leading to her going to the isles and understanding luz better while understanding how wrong her own actions of trying to replace luz was leading to her and luz forming a connection so while this is a nice video I disagree that vee’s arc in the show which to be honest there was really no arc at all was not perfect at all and there so much more that could have been done with her character and there probably was plans but the show got cancelled so in all honesty her character ended up becoming wasted potential.
I don't agree with that part of the episode where eda says luz and shouldn't deal with belos cause they are kids, being kids doesn't matter especially when you ARE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING! luz and king can help and can fight back but the big reason is in that specific situation it's all hands on deck, the boiling isles is luz's real true home where she belongs and she was completely right to get on eda's case about sending her away from the battle to stop the day of unity cause she CAN HELP and since her real home was in danger it absolutely was her obligation to defend her home being a teenager is not important in that situation when your home and your family are in danger you HAVE TO FIGHT! there IS NO CHOICE BUT TO FIGHT! so yeah eda was in fact wrong, luz and king being kids did not and NEVER DID MATTER! now I do agree that vee's trauma was a valid reason for her to not go with her family and friends to save the demon realm or at least it matters in her case anyway considering her backstory and all that, anyway I do agree when it comes to vee but luz and king, they DID NEED TO FIGHT AND BEING KIDS NEVER MATTERED IN THAT REGARD.

Have we had Vee’s gender confirmed? I think the show used the they/them pronouns, which made sense to me since they could technically look like either gender and there’s no hints that her species even has different sexes.

Honestly I was pretty disappointed with vee’s character in the show she got literally little to no screen time and a severe lack of character development but due to the cancellation we never got to see more of her character and her developing a connection of sisterhood with luz or with her friends nor did she an episode where she began to realize how wrong she had been about luz and her life and the issues she had to deal with in the human realm leading to her going to the isles and understanding luz better while understanding how wrong her own actions of trying to replace luz was leading to her and luz forming a connection so while this is a nice video I disagree that vee’s arc in the show which to be honest there was really no arc at all was not perfect at all and there so much more that could have been done with her character and there probably was plans but the show got cancelled so in all honesty her character ended up becoming wasted potential.

I don't agree with that part of the episode where eda says luz and shouldn't deal with belos cause they are kids, being kids doesn't matter especially when you ARE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING! luz and king can help and can fight back but the big reason is in that specific situation it's all hands on deck, the boiling isles is luz's real true home where she belongs and she was completely right to get on eda's case about sending her away from the battle to stop the day of unity cause she CAN HELP and since her real home was in danger it absolutely was her obligation to defend her home being a teenager is not important in that situation when your home and your family are in danger you HAVE TO FIGHT! there IS NO CHOICE BUT TO FIGHT! so yeah eda was in fact wrong, luz and king being kids did not and NEVER DID MATTER! now I do agree that vee's trauma was a valid reason for her to not go with her family and friends to save the demon realm or at least it matters in her case anyway considering her backstory and all that, anyway I do agree when it comes to vee but luz and king, they DID NEED TO FIGHT AND BEING KIDS NEVER MATTERED IN THAT REGARD.

Have we had Vee’s gender confirmed? I think the show used the they/them pronouns, which made sense to me since they could technically look like either gender and there’s no hints that her species even has different sexes.
