So im guessing you could just use a dehu relay from the trolmaster to control a 2 pole contactor and use the time clock to break that signal so that it only activates after lights out?
the idea is great but not cost efficiency but helps on small grows. Question how do you calculate the Tonnage of the room for de-humidification taking in consideration x amount of plants.
Yer right, it’s not about saving energy. It is about growing mold free, higher Terps, better looking Weed. The Lights are the Load not the water….. difficult to explain in reply here, Science, my IG has much more
When the lights are on the AC is and it’s doing more Dehu work than you know…. That’s why when the lights go out and the AC stops that the dreaded out of control Humidity begins. No dehumidifier installed has ever been large enough, hence the struggle
Hello steve i have a question. If I have two flower rooms, one running from 0 to 12 hours and the other from 12 to 0 hours, can I use one AC unit in each room and place the outdoor unit of Room 1 in Room 2 and vice versa? Would this allow the heat to transfer between the rooms with some level of dissipation? Would a setup like this work ?
@@senna78ks no each space needs its own capable system… Like how our planets Atmosphere is not shared with another. The problem is not cooling, but it’s D humidification, and when the lights are out it doesn’t matter that you don’t need cooling you still need dehumidification
Thanks Steve!! Really appreciate you sharing so much of your expert knowledge. Did you ever find a way to integrate this hack into the trolmaster? If not have you found a preferred controller?
So if im getting this right, as temperature gets colder AC gets better at removing moisture from the air?. Ive noticed its the exact opposite with dehumidifiers.
The AC doesn’t lose capacity at low indoor temps because the Outdoor side is outside with head pressure control… but the Dehu in a cool space loses capacity, true, yer correct
So If I have a 70pint ideal air 680w dehum, I can essentially swap it for a 600w heater and turn that bad boy on at night with less energy and the same result?

@@cannabismechanicalwouldn’t a space heater that also dehumidifies be better for this than a heater only? At the end of the day 1w=3.41 btu of heat, and with one option you get free dehumidification too.
I think I have worked out why people struggle with the principle here, and it’s because they are coming from small systems where they only need a small dehumidifier and likely not running sealed spaces. The analogy that the standard dehu is a poor space heater is surely not correct. I’m not hating, I’m a big fan of yours and have integrated reheat to kick in via a dsh unit when the lights go out, works a treat, but the analogy - my 1000w heater puts out 3500 btu. Jason, Maybe. You can experiment with that scheme. Buy a Temperature/ Humidity data logger. I recommend Lascar USB stick to find out. Without the details, I think a dehumidifier made by a reputable company would cost less to operating then a electric heater which is very electrically inefficient.

So add a heater during lights off? What about a mini-split that can do heatind during lights off and AC during lights on?
