For a few days now, I have re-taken my own very intuitive way of meditation, caused by watching several videos on the Beatles'Rishikesh experience. I still feel a special bond with that period musically and spiritually because I was born in 1968. But with growing life experience, I decided to take information from several sides instead of what I did as a teenager, swallow everything concerning Beatles and remain putting them on a pedestal. The turning point came from watching the film Two of us, about the fictive meeting of John and Paul in New York in the late seventies. The film has made me cure from viewing John as a kind of prophet figure, and more to accept him as a human, however artistically gifted, with all his faults. Still, I had a growing interest in the benefits of TM and although never having had lessons from a TM teacher, I still try to take meditations in my own intuitive way. And the last few days I feel growing benefits from it on my personal and artistic energy. But, as I decided after the film Two of us, I considered it important to find out more than one side of the story, and after the interview with Jenny Boyd on this channel, I decided to watch this interview too. Your story has resulted in giving me some fresh new views: I have to trust my intuition whether or not to go take TM lessons. and at the moment, I decided not to, but stay to mature my own intuitive meditation method. It may be that I already practice TM in my own way, but at the moment, it is not yet important to me to find out. I want to thank you for your brave decision to write your book, for your own decisions to loose yourself from the TM movement and still being able to let TM in your life, and for giving me fresh viewpoints. No problem, Jai Christ; God is infinite and infinite are the ways to reach Him. Maharishi Mahesh (I omit to write Yogi because he was not a yogi nor a wise men) was not a good way to reach the Infinit Goal of life.
Maharishi seems to have passed on Feb 5th, 2008. Judith Bourque's book seems to have been published 2010. How convenient! Not saying her book belongs on the shelf in the science-fiction section...just interesting!
I doubt this lady's story Maharishi was a highly knowledgeable and intelligent monk ,and a spiritual person too (see end) according to his traditions a celibate He would hardly be foolish enough to veer away from the path and endanger his image and message by an cheap affair with a young lady, nor would he be interested. SELF Realisation offers so much more than that especially for a monk. I learnt TM in 1978 and have never met Maharishi and have studied other forms of meditation ,TM is far superior and so easy to do to realise the SELF ,proving Maharishi knew what he was talking about. I never did have any connection with the TM organisation,because I knew TM is all one needs to realise the SELF. I lost contact with my TM teacher after she moved away and just did TM, and got on with my life running a small business.I forgot about Maharishi and the TM movement. Years later 2008 Maharishi came into my mind and I wondered if he was still alive so I searched on YT ,very quickly the very first post stated that Maharishi had passed just few hours before ! I was dumbfounded ,what a coincidence or was it? I feel Maharishi even though we had never met came into my mind after he had passed....this has to be cosmic consciousness so proving Maharishi was indeed a great Master and not some foolish playboy out for cheap thrills.......
Why do we think a master meditator is not a sexual person? It is biologically impossible for a male to with hold sperm for long durations. It is the same for women to with hold eggs.. I have been meditating for 45 years every day and have been with many gurus. The honest ones will tell their students to have sex but keep meditating. The deeper the practice gets, the samadhi bliss comes and it does not require celibacy. The sex drive naturally gets weaker with age. The bliss does not require a biological interruption. I go into serious levels of bliss every day. I had a wife for 18 years and we gave life to 2 children. The bliss never stopped. It is actually unconditional. It does not require the attainment of conditions. The bliss naturally makes us better as it gets deeper.
@DavidSereda thank you for your input. I feel that Maharishi was in conflict with it himself, since he was never able to come out with the truth before he died. I agree that there is no inherant conflict between spirituality and sexualtiy, but it is an area where there is still so much confusion and in that confused energy a lot of people are getting hurt. Thank you Judith for your courage and telling the truth about the sexual needs of Maharishi. Your testimony proves he was not a ghost, nor a god, but a human being (like us all) after all. It does not disaproves the value of meditation eventhough. Maharishi's choice to hide this aspect of his life is his choice, in his time, as a leader. I will not elaborate this, sorry; this is a discussion on itself. Nowadays, I think, the TM movement should have the courage and adulthood to deal with this sexual truth of Maharishi and even to reveal this to the world: because truth makes always stronger; falsehood and makebeliefs are far more destructive ( in the end). This prooves to me that even high TM-spirituality-exercices do not eliminate sexual needs completely, but maybe only supresses this to a certain level or extent. ( Of course some people maybe " real celibates", but they seem to me rather the exception and the anomaly in biological life or only possible in certain conditions and with certain bodies. Catholic priests are struggling with celibacy too... Was Jezus a celibate? We can/may doubt this, evenso the virginiy of Mary. Cultural and relgious truths are not real truths, I found out -long ago- ... ) I was a TM member (not a teacher) in the eighties and meditation helped me a lot in difficult times. I left TM (in the eighties) because I could not find a scientific proof of "the siddhic flying" (=levitation; hopping is not levitation!) -it is a lie, hoax and fraud to me- and the finding that other things (sound sleep, healthy food and air, calmness and silence, physical exercices, ...) are better. (Also I can hold "the state of meditation" longer in my life, without the need to meditate everyday... Maybe I am awakened, haha? I speak only for myself and cannot judge others.) But like catholicism ( I also left), I took only the good and truthfull in it with me in my life, and rejected the bad, the untruths and lies. I follow saint Pauls advice: investigate everything, and keep only the valuable in your life (and leave the rest of it). This is a positive message of St Paul. And be free and kind to others, respect to life choices and path (as long it doesnot damage others); I see TM like it is, I have no hate in my mind, but I would hope that there may be more truth coming in the movement.

Incontinence is like death to an advanced yogi. Maharishi was not an enlightened man. It's also absurd how he sold TM as a "science" when it's clearly Hindu religion. Yes, find the Giru within. I was in Rishikesh in 1975,and has very bad experiences there. But I still respect what he taught. But the the Beetles were right, " he has taken everybody for a ride😀. "
We are really spiritual beings having physical experiences; but we have lost our true identity. Consequently we are vulnerable to be exploited by people who claim to be able to show us what we have lost. When a condition of so-called spiritual teachers is that you give them lots of your money for their secret knowledge, that is when we should know that we are being ripped off.
Maharishi looked for a Master until he found one who was life celibate because he had that high ideal for himself. Spreading lies about Maharishi comes back to anyone who says it and anyone who believes it. I'm happy about that.
The guru within will take you to a true Guru without, a real Guru... real Gurus are so few... God will send such a true Guru when we are ready and desire God very badly. I very much love TM. I think the creator has stamped sexuality pretty firmly in most of us humans. I count it as a good thing when Maharishi suggested the benefits of "conservation of energy" or celibacy. I think it is good to experiment with celibacy. But personally I have had a great spiritual breakthrough, (more like a recovery of a lost experience level), through a sexual experience. I knew Maharishi as the most brilliant person I have ever heard speak. His techniques gave the most profound experiences for me. I still practice them all today. I have no reason to doubt Judith's experience. I have to go now at the moment.

I'm sure she will sell many books... Of course, the Maharishi would have jeopardized his whole community, life, and history, for what? for a fling with a twenty-year-old girl... She says that in her encounter with the Maharishi, he was very 'inexperienced' as she says of herself, if so, by what standard did she judge the Maharishi if she was as inexperienced as she says of herself??? Somewhat of a big contradiction here? And then she says "She didn't tell anyone" Surely as a woman that would be the first thing to divulge to those who are close to the Maharishi unless she consented to whatever happened... "Her neurotic needs were being fulfilled" and exactly what does that mean? So the Maharshi advocated her getting married 'quick' if she had got pregnant, to anybody in the movement...So the Guru is suggesting that she lie?? Of all the millions of women he must have met, he chose her to bring down and ruin all his work... For what, a twenty-two-year-old 'inexperienced' young lady...
I’m with you. Remember this was the free love 60’s. So why not ask her how many sexual partners did she have before meeting the Maharishi? I can just imagine her trying to seduce a celibate, failing and becoming a scornful woman.

These days we don't find such genuine innocent people. What I can't get to agree or accept is, that why should a Guru hide the truth? A true Guru is fearless and honest. I was also a TM teacher. I heard stories about these shenanigans, -- way back then from others who were in closer. This kind of promiscuity is a violation of the trust that a spiritual leader, a therapist, etc is supposed to have. Furthermore he is in the dress of a renounced order. Another well known case was Muktananda, even more flagrant I would say, involving allegedly under aged girls. He also was a highly talented guru. The list is long. They get tremendous spiritual power, even closeness to source, then the name and fame and adoring girls hit them like a tsunami. What to say???
In my past 10 years in practising different meditation techniques, Yoga, listening to Gurus etc.... At the end of the day, no matter how much spiritual knowledge one gets, how transceded one may be.... Dude at the end we are all humans and have needs, the real crime is if one denies ones humanity and needs that go allong with that physical closeness, love making, eating, sleeping, having friends and family.... We are all the same no matter Guru or not. I just laerned TM a few days ago, but I dont care for the cult guru hype thingy, whether. I do my spiritual practise sometimes more one form than the other, I do my physical exercise I just live my life.
@@UmaerHashmi Every human being has a ultimate source of creation inside human body. That's y they are searching the key to unlock this treasure. Guru Mahesh Yogi gave this technique. Even prophet Muhammad at the age of 40 used to go in a cave and meditate in silence. Shri Ravishankar separated from His guru Mahesh Yogi and started New method of meditation called Sudarshan kriya and Art of living. Guru Mahesh Yogi was unhappy and never talked to him again. You do running for few minutes and then do deep breathing by closing your eyes . You will get calmness within. Guru Mahesh Yogi just simplified things.

Why don't the fake gurus who make their living off of such twisted rationale about sex in particular, why don't they have the capacity for honesty, to just marry one wife and take care of her & the children. The hard questions are not being asked..... First: Take a polygraph test Second: provide witnesses This claim means nothing without evidence. Other than just you and your claims we have nothing. I find this claim to be extraordinary and the evidence needs to be commensurate.
there are other women, who had the same experiences with Maharishi (independently from Judith), but she was the only one, to make it public. All others are too loyal or had/have fear to tell the truth. I was for a long time in the mouvement and I know a lot of people, they were very close to Maharishi. They said the same...not in public, but in the private. She is authentic and you can believe her.

But given the other claims - there probably is enough out there to bear an investigation if anyone cared to pursue it. When this level of money and this level of notoriety happen to a man I feel like a lot of the time spirituality and their morals take a hit from which they can not recover.
Her book has plenty of evidence Ray. Written Letters from MMY and other's who have shared in her book that they were there at the time as witnesses. Read her book.

Intimacy is for bona fide married couples, so how in the three worlds could this old cogger, who was more experienced in corruption, deceit, dishonesty and perverse sexual conduct be even considered transcendental. It's good that the poor girl is getting a chance to share what profound confusion and subtle trauma she was subjected to.
Most people either lie or fabricate events to make themselves and their story sound more interesting than they actually are. Maybe she is aware of this and was stressing that hers does not fall into this category. Who knows what to believe without evidence.

There is nothing wrong with a healthy natural sexual desire shared with a Beloved - it is the HEIGHT of human experience. After all, sex IS part of life, as long as it includes respect for the Beloved. That basic premise was violated by a dark energy of secrecy to promote an image of Holiness IF, and I say IF, the claim is true. How do we know? Is there any evidence? any proof? Or is it all He said She said? Sadly, that's what this story is. How many other women were or are there? where are they? Haven't heard a peep. This is similar to the Woody Allen Mia Farrow case. Real sexual predators always have a history and repeat offenses. That was not the case w Woody, which is one reason two law enforcement investigators, from two states, dropped the charges. Beautiful (esp. young )women are VERY dangerous to associate with for any male human who are trying to seriously pursue the spiritual path...They are the very embodiment of MAYA! Lord Brahma Himself (the 1st living creature made by God), at the sight of his own daughter was bewildered by her charms and shamelessly ran up to her in the form of a stag when she took the form of a hind. If even great demi-gods like Brahma and Lord Siva can be captivated by the beauty of a women...what to speak of ordinary human beings! Maharishi was NOT an ordinary human being....he had certain powers and was well aware of many hidden things, spiritual in nature...and he was much more advanced than most of us, but he still wasn't as PERFECT as Jesus was....yet...he still had some work to do on himself to achieve the ultimate freedom state of Nirvakapla Samadhi..The god Cupid(or LUST) is a very tough opponent to defeat because when one becomes infatuated with a beautiful female, the SENSES do not even consider the current relationship of daughter, mother or sister to one's self Humans are half animal...and half angel..it's up to you which way u choose to be Namaste.
The whole Interview this Lady is not saying the Truth and perhaps she could Expect something from the TM Guru and probably is Totally ignored by that Guru. So she is telling this story and it seems scripted by the Interviewer and the Opposite person....
But where is the problem ? We mix vows of celibacy with vows of chastity. A lot of yogis and sadhus have sexual relations in India. It has nothing to do with their level of consciousness and the value of teaching. They just can not engage in a family life
Sexual relationships lead the serious Spiritual aspirant astray because of the many wordly complications and heavy responsibilities involved. In short ,you lose your very freedom and peace of mind because of all that worldly confusion and worry , that beautiful freedom of the SELF was in your grasp,.....as an 80 year old who has experienced both sides of life's rich coin I know what I am talking about. A worldly life and Spiritual life don't mix, some dont know the difference between love and lust "making love" for most people means having sex, lets be honest. Sex can cause problems ,leaving your spiritual life weakened ,sex for the housholder can also be a trial for some if it doesn't work out.. 50% of couples fail for one reason or another...One Master said on this subject. "5 minutes of pleasure ,23 hours 55 minutes of pain , every day for years.....because of the heavy responsibilities. As for this lady's story I don't believe it.Maharishi wouldn't have got involved with a young lady and risk ruining all that he had worked for.

@DavidSereda thank you for your input. I feel that Maharishi was in conflict with it himself, since he was never able to come out with the truth before he died. I agree that there is no inherant conflict between spirituality and sexualtiy, but it is an area where there is still so much confusion and in that confused energy a lot of people are getting hurt. I look forward to humanity healing this confusion.
Thank you Judith for your courage and telling the truth about the sexual needs of Maharishi. Your testimony proves he was not a ghost, nor a god, but a human being (like us all) after all.
It does not disaproves the value of meditation eventhough. Maharishi's choice to hide this aspect of his life is his choice, in his time, as a leader. I will not elaborate this, sorry; this is a discussion on itself.
Nowadays, I think, the TM movement should have the courage and adulthood to deal with this sexual truth of Maharishi and even to reveal this to the world:
because truth makes always stronger; falsehood and makebeliefs are far more destructive ( in the end).
This prooves to me that even high TM-spirituality-exercices do not eliminate sexual needs completely, but maybe only supresses this to a certain level or extent.
( Of course some people maybe " real celibates", but they seem to me rather the exception and the anomaly in biological life or only possible in certain conditions and with certain bodies. Catholic priests are struggling with celibacy too... Was Jezus a celibate? We can/may doubt this, evenso the virginiy of Mary. Cultural and relgious truths are not real truths, I found out -long ago- ... )
I was a TM member (not a teacher) in the eighties and meditation helped me a lot in difficult times. I left TM (in the eighties) because I could not find a scientific proof of "the siddhic flying" (=levitation; hopping is not levitation!) -it is a lie, hoax and fraud to me- and the finding that other things (sound sleep, healthy food and air, calmness and silence, physical exercices, ...) are better. (Also I can hold "the state of meditation" longer in my life, without the need to meditate everyday... Maybe I am awakened, haha? I speak only for myself and cannot judge others.)
But like catholicism ( I also left), I took only the good and truthfull in it with me in my life, and rejected the bad, the untruths and lies.
I follow saint Pauls advice: investigate everything, and keep only the valuable in your life (and leave the rest of it). This is a positive message of St Paul.
And be free and kind to others, respect to life choices and path (as long it doesnot damage others); I see TM like it is, I have no hate in my mind, but I would hope that there may be more truth coming in the movement.

Incontinence is like death to an advanced yogi. Maharishi was not an enlightened man. It's also absurd how he sold TM as a "science" when it's clearly Hindu religion. This makes him a con man as well.

Looking back at the modern history, and my own experiences with the 'Gurus' we see that ALL Gurus are regular human beings with commitment to teach what they have learnt/experience to the seekers... We the followers make the mistake of making them God like.. some of the them like JK desist from that image whereas other Gurus fall for this God like image ... Maharishi looked for a Master until he found one who was life celibate because he had that high ideal for himself. Spreading lies about Maharishi comes back to anyone who says it and anyone who believes it. I'm happy about that.
Except 14 other women said the same thing one of them being Teresa Olsen who has been highly respected in the tmo for 50 years
The guru within will take you to a true Guru without, a real Guru... real Gurus are so few... God will send such a true Guru when we are ready and desire God very badly. Never fall in the trap of fake guru and never fall in the trap of thinking that a real Guru doesn't exist.

I very much love TM. I think the creator has stamped sexuality pretty firmly in most of us humans. I count it as a good thing when Maharishi suggested the benefits of "conservation of energy" or celibacy. I think it is good to experiment with celibacy. But personally I have had a great spiritual breakthrough, (more like a recovery of a lost experience level), through a sexual experience. I knew Maharishi as the most brilliant person I have ever heard speak. His techniques gave the most profound experiences for me. I still practice them all today. I have no reason to doubt Judith's experience. I have to go now at the moment.

I'm sure she will sell many books... Of course, the Maharishi would have jeopardized his whole community, life, and history, for what? for a fling with a twenty-year-old girl... She says that in her encounter with the Maharishi, he was very 'inexperienced' as she says of herself, if so, by what standard did she judge the Maharishi if she was as inexperienced as she says of herself??? Somewhat of a big contradiction here? And then she says "She didn't tell anyone" Surely as a woman that would be the first thing to divulge to those who are close to the Maharishi unless she consented to whatever happened... "Her neurotic needs were being fulfilled" and exactly what does that mean? So the Maharshi advocated her getting married 'quick' if she had got pregnant, to anybody in the movement...So the Guru is suggesting that she lie?? Of all the millions of women he must have met, he chose her to bring down and ruin all his work... For what, a twenty-two-year-old 'inexperienced' young lady...
I’m with you. Remember this was the free love 60’s. So why not ask her how many sexual partners did she have before meeting the Maharishi? I can just imagine her trying to seduce a celibate, failing and becoming a scornful woman.
She isn’t the only one to reveal having a carnal relationship with the Maharishi. That should probably be a deal-breaker for any earnest seeker.

I was also a TM teacher. I heard stories about these shenanigans, -- way back then from others who were in closer. This kind of promiscuity is a violation of the trust that a spiritual leader, a therapist, etc is supposed to have. Furthermore he is in the dress of a renounced order. Another well known case was Muktananda, even more flagrant I would say, involving allegedly under aged girls. He also was a highly talented guru. The list is long. They get tremendous spiritual power, even closeness to source, then the name and fame and adoring girls hit them like a tsunami. What to say???
In my past 10 years in practising different meditation techniques, Yoga, listening to Gurus etc....
At the end of the day, no matter how much spiritual knowledge one gets, how transceded one may be....
Dude at the end we are all humans and have needs, the real crime is if one denies ones humanity and needs that go allong with that
physical closeness, love making, eating, sleeping, having friends and family.... We are all the same no matter Guru or not.

I find this claim to be extraordinary and the evidence needs to be commensurate.
there are other women, who had the same experiences with Maharishi (independently from Judith), but she was the only one, to make it public. All others are too loyal or had/have fear to tell the truth. I was for a long time in the mouvement and I know a lot of people, they were very close to Maharishi. They said the same...not in public, but in the private. She is authentic and you can believe her.
@@hille3142 Some tell me they believe this and others say it is just a made up story. This claim is significant and as such it needs significant evidence. If it is so others were involved, we need to here from them. Otherwise this is only another baseless claim.
@@raywingfield Agree. But I think this is just an interview- not investigative journalism - like Dateline where they are trying to get to the bottom of things. This is a woman sharing her experience. But given the other claims - there probably is enough out there to bear an investigation if anyone cared to pursue it. Can anyone name one modern-day male guru who claimed to be celibate who actually was? When this level of money and this level of notoriety happen to a man I feel like a lot of the time spirituality and their morals take a hit from which they can not recover.
Her book has plenty of evidence Ray. Written Letters from MMY and other's who have shared in her book that they were there at the time as witnesses. Read her book.

Or is it all He said She said? Sadly, that's what this story is. How many other women were or are there? where are they? Haven't heard a peep. This is similar to the Woody Allen Mia Farrow case. Real sexual predators always have a history and repeat offenses. That was not the case w Woody, which is one reason two law enforcement investigators, from two states, dropped the charges. Seems the same here, sorry to say. I appreciate her story, and perhaps it is true as a one-off falling in love event. Does it devalue his teaching? If even great demi-gods like Brahma and Lord Siva can be captivated by the beauty of a women...what to speak of ordinary human beings!
