Looks awesome! My only suggestion - as someone who installs countertops for a living - don't silicone ONTO the cabinet then place the stone on it, rather put the stone in place then go up from inside and silicone where the stone meets the cabinet walls. This way, you're not tearing apart your cabinets if you want to change your countertops in the future. You'd just simply run your knife across the silicone, much like you did when cutting the silicone away from the splash and countertop in the beginning of the vid.
We have laminate in our kitchen. We've only had it for 5 years. Looks dark and I want something lighter. Of course my husband is having a fit (can't blame him) because to take of our laminate, it will be a tough job because they glued it down tight, not just silicone where the stone meets the cabinet walls. So we are screwed in terms of tearing this out. He is afraid it will not only hurt our new cabinets but will destroy the bottom part of our backsplash tile. I wish someone knowledgeable could help us remove it. Also have an 8' x 3' island. My husband thinks adding quart to this length will cost up to $5,000 just for a quartz or Solid Surface put on. I just don't what to do at this point.
@@theresahemmer3725 You can also install new laminate over existing laminate. My friend's mother had it done on the laminate that was installed in the 90's. The new laminate was a replica of marble. Looked beautiful.

Manufactured home cabinets, fake cabinets, what is the best way to paint them? Love your content, thanks for all the tips! 👍
The whole video I was distracted by his tools on top of expose surfaces lol. Just something I always try to not do. The customer is always watching your move.
Where should I buy the underlay for vinyl plank flooring..mentioned in video.
O geez mine is still iron counter from 1961 and it’s all old and rusty, corrosion but since the owners won’t do anything looks like I will do it myself.
I actually bought an undermount sink and a faucet and want a new countertop that I think my husband and I can install. Can't use laminate because it's an undermount which is what I want so I don't get what I got--deteriorating countertop around the back and edges. I'm also not very careful when it comes to putting hot things or cutting on the counter. And how do you cut the holes for the faucet and sink? Who does that?
I noticed you didn't use a ply substrate. Was that because of the thickness of the quartz? When do you need a plywood substrate?
The countet top that you removed is Plastic Laminate on Particle Board. Not Formica. Formica is a trade name.
Ive seen a lot of videos where the guy does the process weird, but as a granite guy; seems like you know what you're doing... For now lol 😂
Is that a special sink? or is the quartz placed right on top? sorry if this is a dumb question or have already been asked!
I feel like there is a leveling left and right and front and back that should be done after laying down the countertop?
