Nice overview of the MEP trades and how they fit into the overall building puzzle. And, as a long-time MEP Electrical engineer, I totally agree and champion what you said about understanding the "Systems" first, such as the overall system diagrams, mainly the one-line or single-line diagrams in electrical's case. This should be treated as your overall road map to the electrical system, and then treat the "in-the-building" views more like actually in your car driving through the town with landmarks. Well done!
Great video. Gave me a little confidence. I’ve been a formally trained electrician for 10 years, and the last 5 I have been a GF running the BAS installation on huge data centers. I have an offer coming up to be an MEP owner rep. I love construction and I’m hoping I will get a good enough offer to start a new journey!
Do you have to be an engineer to work on and draw plans for MEP? I have construction and mainly electrical experience but no drafting or schooling. Do you think its possible to get a job without a degree?
my course of study is economics....right now I'm almost 12 years in the MEP building industry as a MEP supervisor. at first, I thought it was a little bit hard to understand MEP. Right now I can easily understand the system. you need to always ask your vendor about the system.
I am a Quantity Surveyor, and it is exceptional!

@@ZuglyRed I would hope so. I would hire you if I did that and you were a cultural fit.
