The two of you did an absolutely extraordinary job on the removal of the cedars and junipers, removing roots and debris, disposing of all the trimmings, tree trunks and clippings, and finally adding too soil and seeding, turning in the seed and lightly rolling it to maximize seed/soil contact. For the homeowner to suggest, that sufficient work wasn’t done to warrant paying for the job is despicable and preposterous!!! I hope you take them to court, with your video footage of the entire job, as proof of work completed.! It is outrageous that these homeowners had the audacity not to pay for the job! The home owner should have cut down those trees 🌲 and done the gardening themselves as you were never going to please them as they are chancing their arm in paying. To see the extent of the physical work involved . To say you and your employee didn’t do satisfactory work is a joke! There is no pleasing some people. I wished only all gardeners were so professional. It was excellent the work. Unfortunately in this case I would take them to court and provide the evidence. To limit others thinking they’ll get a free pass for not paying.

Only 9 minutes into the video and the house owner has been seen twice observing (and probably criticising) what you’re doing. Major red flags on the type of person you’re working for imo. As everyone else has said take them to court and don’t let them get away with treating you like this. They probably pull this kind of thing all the time! I giggled at your comment. I've always been one who watches people I hire work. Not because I'm criticizing their work, but because I'm nosey about how professionals do things and obviously (since I watch this type of videos) I enjoy seeing it in progress. But, I got the criticizing vibes from the homeowners, as well. Theirs didn't seem like "enjoying the process".. it seemed like negative eyeballing to me.
I watch contractors like a damn hawk, as so many of them are cowboys and don’t have a damn clue wha they are doing. The last 2 contractors I had replace my fence and do some major gardening worth thousands were both cowboys and had to be thrown off the job for ignoring every single thing specified, then wanting even more than quoted. So yeah., watch, ask police questions, offer tea/coffee if it’s a cold day and make sure they are following the job spec and not destroying your home. It took me 11 weeks to fix what the last idiots did and costs me £2500, just in hire equipment alone, as I couldn’t do it on my own!
Remarkable job! You guys worked very very hard and did a great job. If you and he did not discuss a price adjustment because you were not removing the roots from the line along the fence, he owes you for the full amount. It's not like you didn't earn it. You both worked extremely hard at this project and it turned out fabulous!
Speaking as a gardener myself and has done many jobs like this, it isnt easy by any means its alot of hard work lots can and usually do go wrong. Youve done a fantastic job there and literally what more did he expect you to do, tile the bathroom? Paint the kitchen??? I sympathize with you because ive had customers like that too. As a contractor, if you promise a client, OR make a client believe that you will do a certain thing.....and you do not do it, the client feels deceived/misled/lied to. And some clients don't take lightly to this. Seems like the client believed that the stumps along the fence would have been dug up...and they weren't. The client probably feared that with the stumps still in the ground, the trees might spring new shoots...or the grass wont grow. So we have to understand the clients perspective as well.

Very good job of removal, hauling away the hedges, cleaning up afterwards, and finishing touches. As far as not being adequately compensated, the videos speaks for itself as far as your work. Anyone watching can observe the work put in, the conditions you worked under with the bad weather and someone eyeballing you and your helper continuously. This is a great video for showing your preofessionalism.
You could ask another professional to quote how much they would charge and take them to court with you and sue the owner that's a lot of good work and high quality well done guys x

Isn't there a way that you can sue the customer to get paid what they'd contracted you for? Take this video to court with you, to show the judge all of the work you did, and the final way you left the yard!
@@sharonycampbell6884, This is what I found about putting a lien against someone else’s property till they pay back that person they owe, “The short answer is no. If somebody owes you money, you can sue them, you can obtain a judgment, a judgment lien. It gets a court record against that property, when the owner decides to sell their home or refinance their property, then they have to pay you”. The bad thing is that property owner can turn around and file a lawsuit called, “quiet title”, against him if they feel wrongfully sued or slandered. It might not be something in other countries. I’m sure he’ll win either way he sues or reports it to their court system. I wish him luck! 😁

I would have never went back, they will be dissatisfied no matter what you do, they are cheap scammers, you should have gotten at least half the money before you even touched that job.

adding too soil and seeding, turning in the seed and
lightly rolling it to maximize seed/soil contact.

You also had the tools for the job and have to pay for the wear and tear of your equipment, not to mention your Body. Only 9 minutes into the video and the house owner has been seen twice observing (and probably criticising) what you’re doing. Major red flags on the type of person you’re working for imo. As everyone else has said take them to court and don’t let them get away with treating you like this. They probably pull this kind of thing all the time! I giggled at your comment. I've always been one who watches people I hire work. Not because I'm criticizing their work, but because I'm nosey about how professionals do things and obviously (since I watch this type of videos) I enjoy seeing it in progress. But, I got the criticizing vibes from the homeowners, as well. Theirs didn't seem like "enjoying the process".. it seemed like negative eyeballing to me.
I watch contractors like a damn hawk, as so many of them are cowboys and don’t have a damn clue wha they are doing. The last 2 contractors I had replace my fence and do some major gardening worth thousands were both cowboys and had to be thrown off the job for ignoring every single thing specified, then wanting even more than quoted.
So yeah., watch, ask police questions, offer tea/coffee if it’s a cold day and make sure they are following the job spec and not destroying your home.
It took me 11 weeks to fix what the last idiots did and costs me £2500, just in hire equipment alone, as I couldn’t do it on my own!

If you and he did not discuss a price adjustment because you were not removing the roots from the line along the fence, he owes you for the full amount. It's not like you didn't earn it. As a contractor, if you promise a client, OR make a client believe that you will do a certain thing.....and you do not do it, the client feels deceived/misled/lied to. And some clients don't take lightly to this. Seems like the client believed that the stumps along the fence would have been dug up...and they weren't. The client probably feared that with the stumps still in the ground, the trees might spring new shoots...or the grass wont grow. So we have to understand the clients perspective as well.

@@sharonycampbell6884, This is what I found about putting a lien against someone else’s property till they pay back that person they owe, “The short answer is no. If somebody owes you money, you can sue them, you can obtain a judgment, a judgment lien. It gets a court record against that property, when the owner decides to sell their home or refinance their property, then they have to pay you”. The bad thing is that property owner can turn around and file a lawsuit called, “quiet title”, against him if they feel wrongfully sued or slandered. It might not be something in other countries. I’m sure he’ll win either way he sues or reports it to their court system. I wish him luck! 😁
