This is such a good vid. I'm due to go back up there in a couple of days...can't wait! Love walking around the vast Rufford colliery area, there is so much to explore and still so many remnants of the former railways. I just wish I had the chance to go up there 30+ years ago.
Wow. That looked like you had a really enjoyable time. Sign you up for the Tour de France! I visited that part of England last year and found it incredible just how many old railway lines there were. Made for some interesting walks, so much history to soak up. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from northern NSW, Australia.
so many train lines, i didn't realise, well, even the squirrel could tell you were rushing this one Ant. I personally prefer the slow gentle walks and the willing you on to find a signal pole or a pile of sleepers in the undergrowth, a beautiful bridge even better, but either way I enjoyed the ride, thanks, ps Sutton Pit is now Brierley Park and it is close to New Hucknall (Huthwaite) and the old Silverhill colliery sites, and Silverhill, well must be near to the old Teversal colliery site (they shared the same pithead baths, somehow, until 1954) which in turn must be near to Skegby Colliery, there could be a huge concentration of disused lines and the history is hidden from us mortals and only you Ant can find it for us!
Thanks Ant I see why you did it on a bike. Any idea what sort of distance that was? Is there much of the old Great Central line track bed left around where you are?
The section from Clipstome Junction to where the former Crown Colliery site is still there, thats about half the distance to Mansfield. Also the Blidworth line is still is fuly there as a cycle route too :)
I thought for a moment you was going to give us a sneck of Archway House... but you went left ! Only seen a photo of it. Is it on one of your previous posts I haven't seen ? It looks interesting. Enjoyed the return journey, thanks.
I keep mening to get down there for this, its only a 15 minute walk from me, but its either rainignlately when im at home, or there are people stood near or outside it and i never know if they live there. I'll get it one day :)
Lovely day for a cycle Ant, seems this lockdown malarkey has got everyone out on their bikes, me included. Another You Tuber I watch, Wiltshire Man is doing the same at the moment.Such a shame that so much history and jobs have been lost with the demise of the coal industry but better for the environment and people are gradually moving on.
Hey Ant, are you home yet?!!!!!!! No wonder you put subtitles up, you must be out of breath pedalling that fast.🤔 Did you do it that way so that you could get it all in in your alloted hours exercise?!!!!!!😃😄🤣
Morning Bob. It was a little bit different wasn't it? Those subtitles tried to slow me down 🤣 I thought I'd give it a go as I'd just filmed it on the way up. I did fledborough on the way back too so I'll Pop that on eventually 😉
good video but i prefer when you guide us along the way with history spoken...never the less enjoyed it .. i think Ant i like taking it nice and easy ..must be my age mate..Thanks for sharing ..Frank& Lee
Don't worry it's just a mid week filler not the new normal 🙂 I've been out filming the conventional way this afternoon. Some local finds I never knew of 😉

I really do need to get over to the Teversal end of this area, i've not touched any of that especially over to Westhouses. I'll keep searching :)

You've done walking and cycling videos - and a few on a boat. Is it car or motorbike next?
That's funny because I had a chap message recently who has a light aircraft licence and suggested doing a video from the air
Nice ride !
Not too fast I hope, first time I've tried this 🙂
@@TrekkingExploration No, the speed's smooth . I wonder if you closed the gates 🙈

Thanks so much for watching :)
