i can surely say, without hongki, pd48 would've been a total mess. He's a great teacher and he knows how to explain things and moreover he speaks japanese which makes things easier for jpn trainees
I'm sure one of the reason why they choose him as the trainer is bc he's good in japanese. it would be easier for him to explain about singing to japanese trainees.
Finally, I found Hongki cut. I watched the first ep in full and fell in love with the Japanese team. They already got the charisma to pull in crowds, they just need to polish their skills in other areas. Hongki's surprisingly patient lol

Wow surprisingly hongki is very good and helpful teachers. He is very professional and passionate artist and a coach. He is not just good but really share techniques and very patient to share and improve the one he’s coaching. He is amazing
After seeing this, I was very glad to see Hongki is great vocal teacher. His trainee was success now💕💕💕 Hongki teach them to be Main Vocal (like him)😍 As a Primadonna I was bit jealous 😂 Honestly I had seen hongki teaching Rowoon SF9 (Seokwoo) in CDD111 (2013) and then now Rowoon success as a Main Vocal, Visual and Center in SF9😂
I remember Hongki said that he knows a BIT of JAPANESE on a Korean variety show. But he speaks so well, I'm proud of him! I first saw him in WGM about 3 or 4 years ago, and he really couldn't speak Japanese.
Fyi, even during his WGM days he was already fluent in Japanese. Since it's a Korean show (and Fuji Miina is also fluent in Korean), therefore they didn't really show that much of Japanese interaction/conversation. I mean, the guy's even BFF with Taka (One Ok Rock frontman and vocalist) and starred in Japanese drama (Muscle Girl) wayy before his WGM days. lol Go check out their old Japan concerts or fanmeet and you'll be surprised.
He speaks Japanese because fnc sent him and the whole Ftisland to Japan for 3 years after flower rock. He gave an interview he said they had to start from zero, he said there were rats on the studio and that they had to sleep on the floor. When they comeback with the album Return they weren't as popular in Korea people forgot about them and moved on, but in Japan they are big, he just released his solo album Drawing in Japanese after his military service. Not in Korea but in Japan. The album is in Japanese

He could, he spoke to Mina sometimes in Japanese. But since Mina is fluent in Korean, they mostly talked in Korean.
