I run the Specialized Eliminator Blck Diamond in the back and Butcher Grid Trail up front, no inserts on my hardtail. Super sweet and affordable setup!
how do you find it with the higher rise bars? one thing I find with mine when it come to steep technical stuff the front end is too low, been thinking of putting a higher rise bar on myself
I wonder if you can put a small piece of electrical rubber tape on the brake housing under those pads. If it will fit between them it might quiet down that rattle. Not normal electrical tape but the rubber tape. Ive never looked at them so I could be totally wrong but just a suggestion.
Dude I’m racking my brain on what size to get! I’m just under 6’1” going to go with a 29er for sure... I already got a XL YT Capra for park days so thinking maybe a slightly smaller L to fit another type of riding? What do you think?
Hey, Ben, I know what you mean about the rattling finned pads. My first set did that but for some reason my next two sets didn't. Great brakes for the price though!
@@aparadoxinplaidsox On man! I feel I did not emphasize enough how well the pads work! because they honestly work better then I thought. but holy cow they are noisy as heck. I am gong to try the tape thing. but regardless I don't find it necessary for myself to run finned on a regular.
Ya its stiff... And so is the 2019. But it's a hardtail. It honestly has never crossed my mind. toss some alloy bars and some 2.6 tires on and your good to go! :)
Thats an awesome setup, and the color is very cool. I have a question. I am planning to get a meta ht in june. I just dont know if I should buy the deore 10 speed version or the sram Nx 12 speed? I like to climb too.
ooo Thats a tough one. I myself Really like sram over Shimano when it comes to drivetrain. But! One thing I can confirm is that the NX cranks are kinda weak. I have a vid up of me bending a crank over shooting a jump. Now if your not planning to do any gnar park days I would take the NX. but thats just me. I really don't think you can go wrong.
@@BenYorkeMrHardtail thanks for the info. I will think about what to get, those 2 gears on the SRAM version are probably noticable when climbing which I do when riding just normal XC routes for getting in shape. I plan to go to bikeparks too, will probably go with the deore version, and upgrade if needed. Also I really enjoy your videos! A lot of honest info about parts and the bike, plus the places you are riding are epic. 🤘
@@BenYorkeMrHardtail im experiencing this issues as well. haha. so what i did is reduced the 210mm travel to 190mm and raised my post about 20mm to compensate. this way i can tighten up my seat clamp a bit more.. rad fork! 👍
Honestly my 2019 build came stock with a Yari and I ran the for a year and it never held me back. I only upgraded originally because I wanted 170mm. But its honestly personal preference.
About tires i still use High Roller II on rear wheel.. Good at descends and also pretty good at uphills.. Btw i also have Commencal Meta HT. Yeah and one thing i want to share with you, propably the best upgrade i ever done, is to get rid of tubeless and install Mousse. Its a foam inside the tire and between rim and foam there is a small tube. And this thing is amazing, because the foam inside the tire is slightly damping the impacts (air inside tire is just springing no damping), so the riding comfort is amazing specially on hardtail. The risk of puncture is very very low, and (and this is propably the best benefit for me) its a god damn clean job to swap tires, no bloody hell sealant everywhere! You can just install it and forget it. Just my opinion :) ruclips.net/video/pktbXR3M04Y/видео.html Great vid man, your bike looks so sick!
Whistler Bike Park BABY!!!!! haha. it is a bit over kill as I myself have told people that a 38 is completely unnecessary for a hard tail. But I ended up getting it much cheaper as a new take off then buying a new 36. :)
Nice bike bro, running the same oneup pedals, dropper and remote on my hardtail, very good quality and value, lovin the brand. You should try Maxxis aggresor on the rear, Im running one now and it's suppppppper durable. good rolling, decent grip!
@@BenYorkeMrHardtail Ah it just 2.5 I'm afraid but the durability is insane coming from a trail boss 2.6 before which is a great rear but no durability at all!
I reckon 2.6 assegai front and rear would work super good on a hardtail, I'm lovin it at the front, you can sacrifice some rolling resistance cus uve got no suspension to sap power at the rear!
That front mud guard does not look good. I mean I have a 2020 Fox 36 Elite and it has Syncros mudguard and only 2 small screws holing it in place. None of that zip tie. Especially for a 38 I expected a lot more. It looks a loot cleaner and nicer IMO. BTW my brake pads don't rattle that much. I use the same brakes. I am not sure why yours does. I actually have a screw in them not just a pin. NICE video as always.
Ya the main reason I got that mud guard was just to keep mud from flying up on my lens. I Love those Syncros mud guards! I just cant seem to get my hands on one. And ass for the pads oh man they are bad on my bike! ya maybe it has to do with the pin instead of bolt. I my try the whole 3m tape mod thing. :)
Love your honesty when talking about the components mate. Keep up the good work 👍
Cheers! By no means do I know what is the best I just know what works for me at this time. ;)
This is a better frame than the Nukeproof Scout :))). I am so getting this bike:)!
Nice build. I have the OneUp EDC Lite on both my Commencal bikes and also utilized the Fork Cork to hold a C02 cartridge in the steerer tube.
Love this frame! Thinking of buying one and slowly building up a full bike over time. That matte sand color is 🔥.
Do it! :)
looks great dude! The fork fits perfectly!
I run the Specialized Eliminator Blck Diamond in the back and Butcher Grid Trail up front, no inserts on my hardtail. Super sweet and affordable setup!
Completely agree!
I just bought this bike thanks to you! 🙌🏻 Really love the look of it
how do you find it with the higher rise bars?
one thing I find with mine when it come to steep technical stuff the front end is too low, been thinking of putting a higher rise bar on myself
Love the bike! Thinking about getting myself some of those FU40 bars... the polished silver ones look sick!
Great vid, bike is looking soo sick 🤘
Hey mate, what size is the frame and ow tall are you in cm? awesome build!
Idk if you covered this but what rear wheel do you run? I’m trying to find a new rear one for me.

Excellent video. I just got the same bike last week. Absolutely amazing bike 👍🏼👍🏼
How much did it cost you for the GX conversion?

Wow awesome setup mr hardtail 🤙
Hello. sick bike. what size it is and how much it weighs (kg) ?
Bike is a size large. I would guess right now that its around 32-33lbs with everything on it.
How much fork offset you have for that 170 beauty Ben?
Very nice frame👍
What's the size of the frame?
Thanks lot
size large :)
Put some rubber tape(3M 2323) on those brake fins to quite them down a bit.
Thats a killer idea! I will try it out thanks!

Hey man how's the new 2021 frame? I watched some video reviews regarding the 2019 meta ht and they said the frame was very stiff.
Ya its stiff... And so is the 2019. But it's a hardtail. It honestly has never crossed my mind. toss some alloy bars and some 2.6 tires on and your good to go! :)
@@BenYorkeMrHardtail Awesome bro! I pre-ordered my bike Meta/HT Essential Gun metal color. I can't wait man. Hopefully this coming March. Ride safe 👊
That 38 looks 👌
I have seen your setup! Looks epic!!!! Thats a beauty 29er setup meta you have! A weapon for sure!!!
BMX Bike Check for sure

Love your videos, Ben! I just got a HT and was wondering what P.S.I you run in your tires?
Thanks so much for the comment. I usually ride 26-28 psi front and 29-30psi rear for everything lol and thats with or without inserts. :)
Nice video, I love the Commencal HT/AM.
I just posted a pretty in detailed Vid on the Chromag Stylus. Check my YT home page for the link and hopefully it helps. :)
@@BenYorkeMrHardtail thanks.
"Commencal" sounds like an industrial warehouse district downtown...
What's the HTA with 170mm of travel up front lol 64 degrees?
Do you have to get a new bottom bracket with the gx cranks
does your oneup dropper post "stick" if you run it slammed to the seat tube and when you tighten the seat post clamp?
Yes! lol they all do no matter the length or model. just the design of the post.

Amazon! I got it for $139cad at the time. fantastic stand! highly recommend!

Frame is a size large and im 6'2. :) I run my bikes a tad on the small side.
What do u think of the chromag doctahawk with the 62 degree head angle?
Bike looks epic! I was going to pic out up but $2700 for a steel frame alone Is a bit steep for me. But would definitely love to get my hands on one!
Fox 38 170mm on a hardtail is pretty mental haha
