Great information as always Dan. I use corks from wine bottles to block the ends after securing the pad. They work well after some minor trimming.

To clean the Mouthpiece, I am using Kukident, the stuff people use for cleaning their artificial Teeth. That works perfect by using one Tablet in a Glass of water.

I've found that an empty egg carton works well for holding the neck while cleaning like this.

Thanks For that tip Dan! Just did this and some nasty stuff came out from my neck, and I clean it at least 3-4 times per week.

A few days ago I bought some white vinegar to be able to clean my mouthpiece, but after seeing this I will add the sax neck (which has never, in the 20 years I've owned, the already 25-year-old, sax been cleaned in this way) to the cleaning agenda.

Good tip, just wish you had shown exactly what you were doing a little more clearly, and slower. You just whizzed through it, and never mentioned nor showed how you plugged the end of it, before pouring the vinegar in. And once you emptied the neck, did you run a rag or something through it, or did all the gunk just flow out with the vinegar?

Hi Steven plugged the end with blue tack, emptied the vinegar down the sink and then ran lukewarm water through the neck for 15 seconds or so, popped it back on and played as you can see in the video.

Just for info, the manual is no longer available but Stephen Howard is hoping to possibly self-publish a new edition.

If you check out Steve's link in the description he might be able to help. Perhaps if enough people message him, he can make a digital version available?
