I love old cemeteries, the older the better. I had no idea there was even one Jewish ceiling NOLA, much less three! It is hauntingly beautiful, even with the need of some repair. Thank you for me the reason the rocks are on the grave markers. I am not Jewish, but have a deep respect for what they have been through as a nation and as a culture. BTW, where is this at in NOLA. Thank you and God bless.

QUESTION. I'M FROM MONROE,LOUISIANA & MY MOTHER WAS BURIED WITHOUT A GRAVE MARKER IN THE MAGNOLIA CEMETERY, OWNED & OPERATED BY THE CITY OF MONROE,LOUISIANA. THIS CEMETERY IS RACIALLY SEGREGATED MEANING THAT BLACKS ARE BURIED IN A TOTALLY SEPERATE PART OF THE CEMETERY FROM WHITES. THIS CEMETERY ALSO LOST THE GRAVEPLOT TO MY MOTHER'S GRAVESITE ESSENTIALLY MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND MY MOTHER'S REMAINS. YOU CAN'T UNDO THE MENTAL ANGUISH & EMOTIONAL PAIN FROM REALIZING THAT I WILL NEVER HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET MY MOTHER A GRAVEMARKER & JUST BE AT HER RESTING PLACE. ARE THEIR RACIALLY SEGREGATED, CITY OWNED- CEMETERIES IN NEW ORLEANS? AND IF SO, HOW DOES THAT SIT WITH BLACK PEOPLE OR DO BLACK PEOPLE EVEN KNOW OR CARE? 🤨

Unfortunately there are many (if not most to all) cemeteries that were segregated, though newer burials don’t practice this (as far as I know). I’m so sorry to hear about what happened with your mother and her gravesite. I wonder if through some deep research it could be located.

I remember at the St. Louis 1 cemetery the tour guide mentioned that the Catholics were in the front and the Prodestants were segerated to the back. Certainly not the same as racial segeration though.

Interesting video. Done very respectfully. I had no idea there were that many Jewish Cemeteries in New Orleans. I would like to visit one if I ever get back to New Orleans. I have always loved seeing this part of the past.

NOLADEEJ - ITS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU. You was my first RUclips channel to watch so long ago, and still my #1 favorite..
I remember telling you I had just visited NO for my first time and how I loved the history of it and you sent me a link to your channel. Then I found Adam the Woo and Carpetbagger..
Thank you for all the great memories.
Stay safe and so good to see you....❤

My last visit to New Orleans was in 2019, before all the garbage. I was in Lafayette cemetery across from Commander’s Palace. There was a lady there working who restored burial sites. She might make for a good interview and possibly steer you to some interesting markers if not give you a little tour of some interesting burial sites in the city. Thanks for the videos!
