It is a bad vice, and there are means of correcting it, which definitely should be done. It is not something you should ever allow to continue if you can stop it.
Also, I’ve known a few horses that crib and they have been lovely ridden horses. It’s not considered a bad vice by everyone like it was in the old days.

Speak to any vet about it. It can’t be stopped in most cases and attempts to stop it increase stress for the horse.
