- Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan gave a very Candid interview to Shushma Datt during one of his "Sold Out" concerts in Vancouver in 1994.
Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was born in 1948 and died at the age of 48 in 1997. He was and still is one of the most recognized artists in the world. His collaboration with Peter Gabriel on the soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ in 1988 was outstanding. His last composition for Bollywood film industry includes songs from Dillagi and Aur Pyar Ho Gaya.

Ustadji lived for just 48 years...His demise was totally undigested reality to world music lovers... But he created centuries of musical barrier to European & Western music to sub-continental music...With his work he lives forever...I don't think any one ever born like him...His range and accuracy of singing different compositions in different ragas and creating different genres was highly unique...
His work in soundtracks to films such as Natural Born Killers (produced by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails) and Dead Man Walking (where Nusrat Sahib collaborated with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam) were astounding! The songs & remixes that we all know and love him for, which are played at our weddings, religious celebrations, and parties, will hopefully remain dear to us for many more generations to come. Glad to have been alive during the time of this legend. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan will forever live on through the legacy of his music!
