- More Dealers Go. A tough market is seeing a lot of dealers go, but have we seen the end of it? This week we have a caravanning tip, we see how to check our caravan brakes are working as they should, we have a lovely low mileage toyota alphard camper van arrive for sale, we look at some used caravans for sale and see how caravan prices are doing.
If you are looking for a used caravan for sale then visit our website where you will find caravans for sale, camper vans for sale and motorhomes for sale. www.thecaravan...

The industry has been taking the customers for mugs for a number of years, every manufacturer is producing rubbish new vans and motorhomes with shocking build quality and I mean every manufacturer, no exceptions. I have a business carrying out remedial work on motorhomes and caravans and we used to get vans in with really bad problems at 5 to 10 years old but now we are seeing the same issues with vans at 5 to 10 weeks old. Its that bad now the only way to change it is to have the public to refuse to purchase new and force the companies out of business and collapse the whole industry. Sounds dramatic but that is what is needed to bring back fairness, integrity and quality in the sector.
@@rabmcleod3508 it has got worse on the new, but they have produced more, which we then see more problems, but in this day and age surely they should be able to stop some of this. We won't sell new for this very reason. 👍
Absolutely spot on
Anything to do with caravans and motorhomes has become silly money. Sites for pitches and for the caravans and motorhomes have made it a very expensive past time, diesel and petrol will be going up in the budget which will add to the problems for most of us sadly
@@rabmcleod3508 the manufacturers are focusing on the wrong things, its all very well adding gadgets to appeal to the young but from my own observations caravaners as a rule caravanners are not young or short of disposable income! Its ABOUT QUALITY! ive had 3 new caravans in 5 years and everyones got progressively worse ending up with the diabolical quality of my 24 model Bailey. And thats what annoys us!
Looks like you need a belt for your jeans - Now everyone knows you wear Jack & Jones boxer shorts ! lol
I'm just glad you didn't get to see the holes in them, the boxers that is 🙈
New Dawn Conversions are lovely chaps. Fitted curtains and awning rail to our Nissan Elgrand and did a lovely job,
We have a 20year old van with a growing number of niggling faults, but are reluctant to change it because;
The cost of a decent replacement is too high.
The future of carravanning in the medium/long term is unsure due to changes in car propulsion
I dont see too many under 40's taking it up, i could be wrong on this one.
The carravanning community needs a shake up to keep itself viable and survive.
I would miss it dreadfully, am in Spain for three weeks now, but am struggling to commit to such a large expense for an uncertain future. The worst thing we can do is bury our heads in the sand and pretend change isn't necessary.
@@GlennDoney we are finding it's more first time buyers and more younger couples or small families that are buying with about 20% already owning a caravan. I think prices will now settle and the correction is about done, we will now just see a normal drop of around £1000-£1500 per year from 2025 I think🤔👍
Made enough Hay with new units while the Covid sun was shining n most try to keep doing it now so no sleep lost here I'm afraid. Like in the wild losses make it easier for others to survive hopefully those who have a good name and not in it for the profits alone but for the buyer .
Just picked up a Elddis Affinity 554 2021 for 10k less than new and it is like new. Toured for around 20 years while the kids were growing up and then did something really stupid and bought a static which I lost a fortune on in 2019.
Bought a puppy and I love the site we have put it on, life feels good again really missed it.
Huge ongoing correction occurring - lots more will go bust unfortunately.
Kilometres would be more ! 1 mile = 1.6km roughly🤔
Yes so if it was 37k km it would be 22k miles is what I meant lol 👍
great info cheers
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Love this canal nice one
@@RodneyMorris-y6j that's great 👍
Think Teesside was part of a bigger holding type company, they've kept the caravan storage facility open and closed the sales. Leisure World group have also closed 2 branches keeping the Catterick site as a flagship store ( York and Birtley gone )
The Toyota Alphard may have had a new odometer with zero miles when it was converted. Alphards and Velfires hide their mileage very well
@@yerags when they are imported you should always have a import certificate, this will confirm the km for the previous 4 years. This will prove everything is correct. Obviously without this then it can't be proven. 👍
Greentrees, 50 year family firm in Norfolk closing October 31, 2024
Yes, someone commented that it's due to retirement but I don't know the exact reason. 👍
Very interesting, just a thought, would a Belt be beneficial?😃
@@phyl692 very 👍
Very interesting and useful again, thanks. A couple of tips though. 1) Don't stuff your pockets with your wallet and phone, and 2) wear a belt so we don't see the top of your underpants. Neither are an attractive look! :)
Im pretty sure it's not my wallet making them fall down. I was nearly at the point of having to use the blur out mode, I will try to find a belt or get some clothes that actually fit me 😂😂.
@@thecaravanplace Have a word with Mr Starmer, or Sir Kier if you're on friendlier terms; I hear he may have some clothes he now needs to clear out!
Greentrees are closing due to retirement.
Thanks 👍
Burton Caravans of Burton on Trent and and Staffordshire are also reportedly to be in trouble, sad times.
@@GWuk69 no they have just purchased another premesis I believe, another family company who have built up over time and not got themselves into debt, so should be pretty safe.
@@thecaravanplace Let's hope so, but I'd still be cautious.
If you use an electrical spray on plugs would it not run down to the next contact and this could cause a short circuit as the spray is a conductor
It shouldn't do and even just normal wd40 won't cause any problems, although others will disagree possibly 👍
Visited both your sites yesterday, found a lovely van but we need a seasonal pitch round Ludlow bridgenorth area, any ideas ?
@@Paulo-fr3xm Www.discoverparks.co.uk 👍
Is this the beginning of a wider plan made by manufacturing purposely regionalising their products. Small companies also being forced out because of the APR rate on pushed caravans to them. I firmly believe that we’re going to see a manufacturing brand disappear the way things are going . The lack of customers buying new will seriously cause issues too. Hence why second hand caravans seem to be more attractive due to prices now levelling off.
We are looking for day van / small camper but not on an import so little choice be nice to see if you do something
@@michaelgrant9160 we have got 2 now that we will be converting, but both imports sorry. The VWs are very expensive in comparison and less well specd. Once we have donr our first 2 we may see if we can find a VW or similar 👍

We looked at the fiat scudo size or even the smallest Ducato
Debt on new unmoved vans causeing it
Your Union Jack is upside down.
Union flag not Jack. Union Jack only flies on a jackstaff.
We got our D4-4 from Teesside caravans back in 2022. The service we have received from them has been 1st class. Great shame they have closed. 🥲
