John Wuhl - yes this "normal Dave". Introspective, intelligent, well read, cultured and very smart. People think of him as the cackling, smiling "onstage Dave" but that's just the showbiz Dave. In normal life he is very different. He loves life, loves learning, exploring the world, and making jokes. One thing Dave is NOT - a stupid Rockstar. He's probably one of the last true Rock Stars left.
his sister said he is Mensa smart, He is a complex yet down to earth person, from rock climbing, dog training to painting and allot in between. DLR is living three lives at once, most people don't live one to the fullest
I love this! "From mousewife to momshell..." (epic quote!) Such a gentle speaker - and lots of wisdom. Nice photography, nice sound, nice speaker... He should do the speaking circuit.
I really like the 'outta control' stage personna DLR puts on. But, I love these in-thought, intelligent discussions. Wish there was more material like this on You-tube.
Dave’s a Lyrical Genius he always has been despite his big head in the 70s but we all have something we don’t like about each other either way he was part of the catalyst that made Van Halen love you lyrics Dev you’re awesome dude even though you blew me off in the 80s at the door of the whiskey a gogo in the mid-80s but I don’t hold it against you.
+MrSyCoe - go to Dave's RUclips channel and he has lots of these kinds of talks. He's a VERY well read, cultured and educated guy. I think the "onstage Dave" is a way for people to underestimate him.
DLR was given a bad rap IMO. Yea he got full of himself and no doubt was tough to handle. He is an intelligent guy, that has seen alot of different cultures and has taken something from each of them in his persona. He was and is a talented guy, some people knock him, I think he was the right guy at the right time for VH. Their last album rocked with some of the most ass kickn songs they produced since Dave left the band. May Edward rest in power. He was a virtuoso multi instrument musician. We will miss you my dude.
Let's get into the meaning of this deep, far reaching epic of a song. Let us delve into the creative chasm that is david's mind. Come on guys. It's called tattoo. nuff said.
I'm a bit skeptical about this a need to express oneself when the only satisfactory means of doing so is to permanently modify your body with vague and obscure symbolism. Why show people a symbol that they will never understand because you won't have the time or opportunity to explain it to them. The symbolism is meaningless to those that observe it. So then what's really important is that they see a (read as "any") tattoo, not that they understand it. So then what's actually being expressed?
A tattoo can be for you and you alone. A remembrance every time you look in the mirror. A note to self. No need for anyone else to understand it. You’ve never done anything for yourself and yourself alone? May God have mercy on your soul.
Absolutely HATE tattoos. What a wretched trend. Favorite part of this vid, though, is his line about the 320 lb. cat. LOLLers. Least favorite part: "What's more poignant than the union struggle?" R U kidding me? Um ... about a couple million things. Anyway, tune's kinda catchy. Wish it had more substantive lyrics.

I'm not, as I have never been, a Van Halen fan. However, the respect I have for them is an ever growing one.

@hodis795 I agree, Tattoos should be an official art form.
While I personally abhor self-mutilation, I love this band, and this track rocks!
I'm a coal miner so this song is special to me. Glad to see the boys BACK

@@WorkFromYourLaptop I have a story about that -- involving one of the very first of my peers to have one (a girl). Caused quite a reaction.
